Hunting titles
Before every season, drivers and teams have high expectations and goals they want to achieve. Some drivers only want to have the maximum amount of fun with their friends, others want to make their first A-Main. The top guns are chasing the biggest trophy – the overall ETS championship title.
But in the end only one driver can call himself ETS Champion in every class. Let us take a closer look on all categories and what to expect from season #14.
Matrix Modified – the fastest class at the ETS
Last season, Ronald Volker was able to claim his 6th overall ETS title in the prestigious modified class. Ronald was able to win 2 out of 3 races (Daun & Andernach) while finishing 3rd in the season opener (Vienna). At the end of 2020 Ronald changed his chassis sponsor and is now running for Mugen Seiki after being with Yokomo for almost 12 years. The Japanese company (Mugen Seiki) now hopes for a real chance to fight for the top spot in the championship with the 2016 world champion coming on board.
The champion of the previous years, Bruno Coelho, had a tough season finishing 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Results which put him into 4th position overall – something Bruno wants to improve in the new season for sure. His Xray team mate Alexander Hagberg was able to collect a race win at RD1 in Vienna, and he finished in a very strong 2nd overall position calling himself the ETS modified vice champion. As always the Xray team will be one to watch as they find the pace to be competitive on every track. Unfortunateley, Alex and Bruno will not be able to attend RD1 at Arena33. The travel restrictions in Portugal (both live close to Lisbon) don`t allow them to travel to Germany without going into quarantaine. This case produces a unwanted throw out result for both directly at the start of season #14.
The best Awesomatix driver was Marc Rheinard who secured himself the last spot on the podium of the modified class – equal on points with Coelho. A strong result when keeping in mind that Marc didn`t have a lot of chances to practice with his new Awesomatix ride coming into last season. His team mate Lucas Urbain finished 5th overall with a blistering performance at RD3 in Andernach where he finished 3rd on the podium. It will be interesting to see how Marc will perform in his second campaign with the Russian brand and how much Lucas can attack on track in the new season.
Team Yokomo added Yannic Prümper to their factory team once again, and he will be in contention together with Christopher Krapp and Loic Jasmin. All three drivers are very experienced and they carry plenty of speed in themselves. Yannic and Christopher were able to win ETS races in the past and for sure we can expect something from them after their lead driver Volker left the team.
Behind the top guns, there are more than enough drivers with high quality aiming to catch up with them and trying to make A-mains constantly. Drivers like Michal Orlowski, Marco Kaufmann, Eric Dankel, Robert Pietsch, Carl Grössel, Tim Wahl, Thimo Weissbauer and Antoine Brunet (only to name a few) will try everything they can to achieve top results in the new season. After the retirement of Freddy Südhoff and Elliott Harper it will be very exciting to see who can qualify for the A-main now constantly instead of them.

Xray ProStock – the biggest show for everybody
The ProStock division is the class for the very ambitioned hobby driver, and in almost every season ProStock was the class with the highest amount of overall participants. The class nowadays is very professional as most of the top drivers doing a lot of practice and racing during the whole year to be as competitive as possible.
Last season’s champion Jan Ratheisky (Xray) will be one of the title contenders in the new season as he comes along with a lot of race craft and somehow he is fast with whatever car he is racing with. He was under huge pressure by his French Xray team mate Alexandre Duchet and Awesomatix Team Manager Max Mächler until the very end of season #13.
The new season looks to be very close again as 2019 champion Simon Lauter will try to improve his 4th overall position as well. He finished on the podium in all races of last season showing that he is still hungry for more. The top 4 will see a huge field of drivers hunting them down. Guys like Frederik Mikkelsen, Olivier Bultynck, Alex Kunkler, Kevin Nielsen and Lukas Ellerbrock (only to name a few) will be very close , trying their best to step up onto the prestigeous ProStock Podium at the ETS.
Will we see a new “old” champion in Xray ProStock, or can somebody else in the highly talented field of drivers capture one of the most important 1:10 scale trophies?

Hobbywing FWD – amazing scale look on track
The FWD class looks back on a very great first season after getting implemented into the ETS. With high numbers of entries at all events the class brings a nice scale look onto the track – something all drivers complimented a lot about.
The first season saw 3 different FWD race winners – Enrico Jung (Vienna), Henrik Heitsch (Daun) and Stefan Schulz (Andernach). Henrik Heitsch (ARC) went away with the overall championship title, only 1 point ahead of Stefan Schulz (Xray) and Enrico Jung (ARC) who finished 2nd and 3rd (equal on points).
The new season will see close FWD racing – that`s for sure. But who will be in the mix for the overall title? Heitsch and Schulz will go for it once again but drivers like Steven Olsen, Jacques Libar, Sebastian Meibörg, Kevin Sparbier and Jonas Völker (only to name a few) will try to keep up the pace with them.

17.5 Stock – pure hobby stock racing
The 17.5 Stock class was created for “non-sponsored” drivers only and the racing we saw in this class was super entertaining and thrilling as well.
Last season, it was Daniel Pöhlmann taking away the championship title in front of Thomas Bemmerl and Joachim Altenhof. Alexander Müller finished 4th ahead of Dominik Ruf in a strong 5th position in the championship. Pöhlmann took RD1 in Vienna, Altenhof won a nail biter in Daun and Thomas Bemmerl was able to win the last race in Andernach – securing himself the vice champion title in the 17.5 Stock class.
With Luis Moreno and Tony Mur not beeing able to travel to Germany (Covid-19 restrictions), it will be the job of drivers like David Kuschnarew, Felix Schneider, Maximilian Unterschütz and Werner Schmitzer (only to name a few) to make pressure on Pöhlmann, Altenhoff, Ruf and Bemmerl.
Everybody is looking forward to a close fight in the 17.5Stock class at the ETS.

Infinity 40+Masters – old but gold
This class saw one dominator last season – Alexander Stocker. He TQèd and won all three races and earned himself a well-deserved title. Behind Alexander, Caspar Morgen finished the season as the 40+Masters vice champion ahead of Thomas Oehler in 3rd position. Nathan Parker (4th) was always in the mix and drivers like Christian Drießle (5th)Toni Mateo and Mirco Thalheimer will do everything they can to improve their results in season #14.
As the 40+Masters class now switched from a 13.5T to a 17.5T Motor for the new season, we are looking forward to see how the field of drivers will lineup at the end of RD1. Who will be the driver to step into Alexander Stocker`s footprints? Let`s go and battle it out!

Scorpion Formula & 40+ Formula – for real F1 enthusiasts
Formula 1 racing is a class for real enthusiasts. The cars are very nimble to drive and they can look amazing on track with the right setup and driving style. The Formula class formed two major champions in the past – Jan Ratheisky and David Ehrbar. These two guys battled out so many tight races and it always is a pleasure to watch them going at it.
Even if the field was closing up to them in the last years, it was David Ehrbar taking the titel in front of Jan Ratheisky and Jitse Miedema who was able to challenge them by winning RD3 in Andernach with a great show of driving.
The new season will be a close fight again, and maybe Olivier Bultynck can put some serious pressure on Ratheisky and Ehrbar in contention for the overall ETS title in the Formua class.
The 40+ Formula ranking is included in the Formula class to find out who is the fastest 40+ driver running these cars. Herbert Weber took the top spot in front of Chris Grenz and Marek Sova to be the 40+Formula champion.
