Today we like to announce another UPDATE about the Avalon Vortex body shell. The body shell will be allowed to use for the rest of the ETS Season #19 2026/27 in the classes Pro Stock, 40+ Masters, and 21.5 Stock. In Modified, the body shell will stay banned until the end of the season.
Vortex not allowed in Modified – what are the reasons?
Our original plan was to just allow the body with the standard rear wing to prevent racers from using bigger and higher wings all the time to further increase the performance (and destroy the look) of the body. However, as most racers have huge concerns that the Vortex will not work with the standard wing in modified, nobody really wants to use it on track.
We have talked to most of the ETS Modified frontrunners now, and they all have the same opinion: They do not want to run the body (as it is so critical to drive), but they feel that they have to do so as soon as one driver will figure out how it can work with the standard wing and goes faster than everybody else. As the body is very thin in the rear section, it also gets damaged even faster than all other body shells – especially in high speed crashes which only happen in the modified class. This was also an argument which almost every racer brought onto the table.
As we know that the top drivers will never find a gentlemen`s agreement to say “Hey, lets agree that we all will not use the body”, we as the ETS crew will now take over this decison and ban the Avalon Vortex from the modified class until the end of the season.
We know that this is not the way we are normally handling things mid-season (and we are very sorry for Avalon as they did nothing wrong) but in this case we think it is the best for the class and the show on track which is the most important for the racers, their sponsors, and especially our spectators and fans around the world!
Body works fine in stock classes and seems to be more than an option
Even if the Avalon Vortex will not be on track in modified again this season, the body will still be in contention in the Pro Stock, 40+ Masters, and 21.5 Stock classes. During ETS RD2 in the Hudy Arena, David Ehrbar (Xray) and Michel Zierold (Awesomatix) finished on the podium of the 40+ Masters class using the Vortex body on their cars. Ehrbar, who won the event, and an incredible pace all weekend long with the Avalon shell!
We saw many other racers with the Avalon body on track as well and it seems that it can be very fast with the correct setup. This should be a serious call to all Stock racers to finally try the Avaoln Vortex in the 0,7mm version on their stock cars!
