ETS RD5 in Daun started with the usual free practice on Thursday. The track in Daun is very challenging, caused by the very special track dimensions here in the “Tennis Sports Hall” of the Sporthotel Grafenwald. After the first round of free practice, the ETS team changed some small details on the track which caused a lot of crashes. They created a bigger distance between the curbs and the white barriers to make the track more forgiving. Almost every racer who has signed up for the race took the chance to participate in the 5 rounds of free practice in groups. On early Friday morning there will be another two rounds of free practice, followed by two seeding rounds to set up the qualifying heats. On Friday evening we will see the first shakedown in round one of Qualifying at ETS RD5. But now, find out about the early pace of your favourite drivers in our short free practice report!
The Matrix Modified class saw Awesomatix driver Marc Rheinard on top at the end of the day. He was very close with Mugen Seiki`s Ronald Völker throughout the whole day, and in the end the leaders were separated by just 0.054 seconds. Yokomo`s Christopher Krapp finished in a strong third position in front of Schumacher`s Michal Orlowski who is debuting the new Mi8 touring car here for the first time at the ETS. Marco Kaufmann was fifth fastest with his Xray car at the end of day one here at the Sporthotel Grafenwald in Daun. Let`s see what the modified guys will show us on Friday – we expect nothing than amazing RC car driving!

In the Xray Pro Stock class it was Awesomatix driver Simon Lauter on top of the field. A perfect start into the weekend as he aims to take maximum points here in Daun during the absence of Xray`s championship leader Alexandre Duchet. Behind Lauter it was Alex Kunkler who looked very fast in second place, ahead of fellow Awesomatix driver and Team manager Max Mächler. The leading trio was in one tenth of a second only and qualifying will be a nail biter for sure. Adam Izsay from Hungary was also very quick with his Xray car and together with Mugen Seiki`s Berkan Kilic he completed the top 5.

Nicolas Delisé and Jonas Völker completed the top five, while Steven Olsen ended the day on P9. To keep his small chances for the overall title alive, Olsen must find some pace tomorrow to have a serious shot for maximum points here in Daun.

Dominik Reile is the last remaining contender for Thomas Bemmerl in the fight for this season`s overall ETS title in the Orca 17.5 Stock class. He was fastest in today`s five rounds of practice ahead of the championship leader Bemmerl. This looks very promising, and we are hoping for a nice fight between both drivers. Behind the leaders, David Kuschnarew, Max Körner and Daniel Pöhlmann completed the top five on Thursday.

Toni Mateo from Gran Canaria was the fastest driver on Thursday in the ToniSport 40+ Masters class. He outpaced championship leader Caspar Morgen from Denmark by 0.1 seconds with German racer Manuel Stankowitz also in striking distance. Mirco Thalheimer and Torsten Baggendorf completed the top 5 at day one of ETS RD5.

In the Scorpion Formula class, we saw Luke Lee from Great Britain turning the three fastest consecutive laps of the day. Renè Kölbel was second fastest with a gap of two tenths to Lee. Sören Sparbier, Herbert Weber and Michael Lipperheide also had a solid practice session to finish in the top 5 here at ETS RD5 in Daun.

On Friday morning, drivers will have another two rounds of free practice followed by two important rounds of seeding practice for the definition of qualifying groups. Last on Friday afternoon will be the first round of qualifying where all drivers and teams had to show what they have in their pockets. We are looking forward to Friday here at ETS RD5 in Daun!
Follow us during the whole weekend and check out the LIVE section on our website. There you find the livestreaming from ETS RD5 Season #14 2021/22 in Daun / GER via pullstart.tv and a second, static stream as well!
Close the door, sit down, fasten your seatbelt and take a ride around the track of ETS RD5 in Daun/GER. ETS Media team member and ToniSport Expert Patrick Beck drove with Hanno van den Boogaard`s Tamiya TT-02S, equipped with a small HD camera under the roof of the body shell. In the video it is the blue and white car which is cruising around the track during a free practice heat of the ORCA 17.5 Stock class!
the current season #14 of our beloved Euro Touring Series is still underway, but today we like to inform you about a little surprise for our upcoming race in Daun!
We are still going through difficult times as Covid-19 is not finally over. We all had a lot of trouble in the last 2 years but we managed to organzie at least some ETS races which we all enjoyed a lot. Without your support and your trust in our work and the Euro Touring Series that all would never have been possible. YOU ARE AMAZING!
To say THANK YOU once again, the ETS crew decided to print some nice designed ETS Season #14 T-Shirts which we will hand out to every racer who will be in Daun. The Shirt looks super nice and we hope that you wll be happy about this special gift from us. We have taken the T-Shirt sizes from your data in MyRCM as our reference, and we hope that everybody will get the right one from us! Fort he next season we hope to bring back the well-known ETS T-Shirts with all our sponsors on, but for now we are really stoked about this very special ETS Season #14 2021/22 T-Shirt.
You can pick up your shirt in Daun and we hope to see many of you wearing it at one day throughout the event as we will take pictures from everybody for sure!
Next stop for the Euro Touring Series is the Sporthotel Grafenwald in the small village of Daun, GER. The huge hotel complex is located in the large forests of the Eifel region, only 20km away from the famous Nürburgring. It is the fourth time for the ETS circus at this venue after the first race 2018, followed by two more in 2019 and 2020. We always saw high numbers of registrations in Daun, making this event one of the most popular ones of the year. This time we are happy to welcome almost 300 racers in Daun who signed up for our six ETS racing classes!
This year`s track layout
Building a track is not so difficult. But building a “perfect track” is more than difficult. The ETS crew always has the goal to create an amazing track for the racers to guarantee maximum racing action and fun during the weekend. Therefore, everything needs to be in good shape. New carpet gets rolled out always at the ETS and needs hundreds of meters of double-sided tape and hot liver to get fixed on the floor perfectly. After the carpet is in place, it is time for putting the layout on it. The well known ETS curbs are perfect for carpet racing and the crew always tries to build a track which is challenging for every class, without being too hard to the car`s in case of crashes. This year, Tobias Baumbach and Marc Rheinard invested a lot of time and work to built up the track on Tuesday – thank you for this amazing job guys ! Due to the T-Shape of the hall in Daun, we always see a very special and unconventional layout. The main straight is always directly in front of the driver stand, followed by a technical infield. One of the biggest challenges in Daun is the area of the track on the opposite side of the rostrum. In this corner, the cars are driving away and then back towards the drivers into the “normal” section of the track again. Drivers must get used to the visibility of their car on track during the practice sessions on Thursday to be prepared when the controlled practice starts.
Winners from the past
The special track layout always was a huge challenge for the drivers here in Daun, and we saw amazing RC racing all the time. The atmosphere in the full packed sports hall was always very intense, especially when it came down to the A-Main finals to decide the winners at the Sporthotel Grafenwald.
2018 – Coelho wins first ETS race in Daun
At the first ever ETS race in Daun, it was Xray´s Bruno Coelho who took the win in the Modified class. His teammate Jan Ratheisky took the win in the Pro Stock class and Awesomatix driver Özer Yürüm won the second ever 40+ Masters race at the ETS. In the Formula class it was Olivier Bultynck on top of the podium!

2021 – Race canceled due to Covid-19
Everybody knows about 2021 – no words needed. We really liked to race in Daun but there was no chance for us to make it happen!
2022 – New heroes wanted!
This year the ETS is back at the Sporthotel Grafenwald in Daun and we are more than happy to welcome all of you at this amazing place. We are looking forward to a great weekend of high class ETS racing and we are excited who will be our next race winners in all six racing classes of the Euro Touring Series!
Let`s go racing
We are looking forward to the racing action at the great facility in Daun and we hope that all of you will like the media coverage of ETS RD5 on our website!
The rumors that popped up in one place or another are true. After we saw a voting result with 70% of people voting for ETS RD6 in Neumünster, we will open the registration for this race on Tuesday, 01.02.2022.
We counted a lot of votes, and we think that we can rely on this result. Chuck`s Raceway in Neumünster hosted ETS RD4 in December and we saw great racing over there. We really like to organize a great sixth round of ETS Season #14 2021/22 for the whole ETS family.
About Chuck`s Raceway
If you have not raced at Chuck`s Raceway at ETS RD4, here are the most important facts for you: Date: 24.03. – 27.03.2022 Location: Stefan Schnoor Arena, Fehmarnstraße 16, 24539 Neumünster, Germany Track: Black ETS carpet (new for ETS RD6) Track size: 30 x 20m Covid-19 Rules: Only vaccinated, or from Covid-19 recovered persons are allowed to attend ETS RD6. Detailed and actual Covid-19 information’s shortly before the race! Entries: We open MyRCM for entries on Tuesday, 01.02.2022 at 20:00 MEZ
Thursday Practice
Before we started the voting process about a possible race in Neumünster, we pointed out that we will not have a practice day on Thursday. But after we received many requests for this day of practice, we now decided to offer out free practice day on Thursday. But as always, it is up to every driver to make use of this practice day or not. The main ETS event starts on Friday! For every driver who will not be able to practice on Thursday, there will be a special practice slot on Friday morning. Only the drivers who were not able to practice on Thursday can practice on the track then as we don`t want anybody having kind of a disadvantage when racing will start. We will talk with all these drivers and organize their practice fair and strict. Please inform us during the registration process on MyRCM if you will practice on Thursday, or if you will join us at least Friday morning!
Registration
We will open the registration on MyRCM on Tuesday, 01.02.2022 at 20:00 MEZ.
We hope for everybody signing up as we would like to welcome you for a great season finale at ETS RD6 at Chuck`s Raceway in Neumünster. We need at least a minimum of 200 drivers at the race so we reserve the right to decide about RD6 to happen, when we see how many entries we will have until the end of February!
The fifth round of ETS Season #14 2021/22 will finally take us to the Sporthotel Grafenwald in Daun again. The last indoor race we had in Daun (February 2020) was the last ETS race before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. Since then, we have been waiting for the day the ETS returns to Daun, as we always saw fantastic RC racing in the village located close to the world famous Nürburgring!
Covid-19 rules still dominating everything
It is not something we all have ever dreamed of, but after a long time with different and quickly changing Covid-19 rules, we have adapted ourselves a little bit to this situation. For our race in Daun we still must accept some strict rules. We are sure that we can count on your cooperation as we could in the last 5 ETS races since we got racing back underway in September 2020 at Arena33 in Andernach/GER.
Another huge turnout at ETS RD5
It is amazing to see so many entries for the race in Daun (300+). The fascination and the secrets of success of our races in Daun are a mix of several things. The Sporthotel Grafenwald is a very unique location in the Eifel region in Germany. Close to no man’s land and only forest on one side, and only a quick drive away from the world famous “Green Hell Nürburgring” on the other side. The huge hotel complex offers the great opportunity to stay with some teammates in the Bungalows and the hotel`s restaurants have never disappointed us. The huge tennis sports hall is the place to be during an ETS race in Daun. The hall normally covers 4 tennis courts, but when the RC racers arrive, a unique track is always expecting them. The T-shape of the area where the track is built up is a huge challenge for most of the drivers as normally everybody is used to tracks with a rectangular shape. We are sure that racers will be excited once again to race in Daun at ETS RD5.
As the season is now entering its final stages, we expect the tension to be very high as the decision for the overall ETS championships is coming closer. Now we look on the different classes, the list of entries, and what to expect from drivers and teams at ETS RD5 Season #14 2021/22 in Daun.
Matrix Modified
Outstanding modified racing in Neumünster whets appetite for more
At the last race in Neumünster we saw an epic battle between Awesomatix Marc Rheinard and Xray`s Bruno Coelho – a fight that people will talk about in different ways for a very long time. Coelho walked away with a well-deserved win, while Rheinard hat to settle for third place behind the star of the race, the amazing driving Michele Manzo (Awesomatix). Mugen Seiki`s championship leader Ronald Völker finished fourth in Neumünster – a deletion result for him which he will try to improve in Daun for sure. Tim Wahl (Awesomatix) showed his tremendous quality with scoring a strong fifth place overall. It was his best result since a long time.
Rheinard and Völker top favourites in Daun while Xray skips the race!
When we are looking on the list of entries for the Matrix Modified class in Neumünster, we are missing some big names. The biggest surprise on the 300+ field of drivers is the fact, that most of Xray`s top factory drivers have not made their entry. With Bruno Coelho, Alexander Hagberg, Jan Ratheisky and Alexandre Duchet, the Slovakian manufacturer will not line up with their top Modified and Pro Stock performers in Daun. At the same time, they will be in the United States with the major team to race at the famous Snowbirds Nationals in Orlando/Florida. A big surprise, after Coelho won the last two races in Modified after missing out the first two encounters of season #14 due to Covid-19 travel restrictions. His chances for the title are close to zero now with his team skipping the race in Daun.
Awesomatix driver David Ronnefalk will be on a USA trip for his major racing class (1:8 Nitro Buggy) with his new chassis sponsor Mayako. Ronnefalk made the A-Main in Neumünster at his first official race as an Awesomatix Onroad driver and showed again that he can perfectly wheel RC cars in any classes.
We now can expect Marc Rheinard and Ronald Völker to have the biggest shot for the win at ETS RD5 as they showed strong performances all season long. Völker (Mugen Seiki) won the first two races at Arena33, finished second in Apeldoorn and fourth in Neumünster. He is leading the championship and is very close to his seventh overall Modified ETS title of his career. Marc Rheinard (Awesomatix) also had a good season so far, even without claiming a race win so far. He was on the podium at the last race in Neumünster, and at the first two races on his home ground at Arena33. Especially his performance at the last race in Neumünster was very promising. He seemed to have the fastest car in the mains and created some serious pressure on pole setter Bruno Coelho who was in “defending mode” all the time, especially in the very thrilling second final.
Can Rheinard finally win his first big race for Awesomatix or will Ronald Völker be on point again. Völker won the last race in Daun (February 2020) and if we think back, we remember amazing races between him and Rheinard – let`s see what happens in the Matrix Modified class at ETS RD5 of season #14 2021/22.
Team by Team
The modified class is the premier class at the ETS, and we don`t want to forget to talk about all the great drivers of the teams traveling to Daun. We have a list of high-quality entries and the modified guys never disappointed us when it came down to close and impressive racing!
Awesomatix pushing for first Modified win since Madrid 2019
The fabulous Freddy Südhoff brought home the last win in the ETS Modified class for Awesomatix when he won the race in Madrid in April 2019. Since then, Freddy Südhoff has retired from RC racing and Marc Rheinard joined the team in 2020. The multiple world champion is the best driver who ever wheeled an Awesomatix car for sure, but Marc is still missing an ETS race win with the Russian brand`s car. After the pace he showed in Neumünster he is one of the top favourites in Daun and a driver to watch. Together with Rheinard, the Awesomatix team will consist of RD4 runner up Michele Manzo, Tim Wahl, Lucas Urbain, Thimo Weissbauer, Dominic Vogl and Karri Salmela. All drivers can do something special and Awesomatix can be very proud of having such a strong team in the Modified class!
Xray still with a lot of quality
With the absence of Coelho and Hagberg in the Matrix Modified class, it will be all about Antoine Brunet, Marco Kaufmann, Oliver Havranek and Patrick Gollner to score good results for the new X4 touring car platform at ETS RD5. Still a good line-up, and after Antoine Brunet showed his potential at the first race of the season at Arena33 where he finished second, we can expect good results from the team even without their two top guns Hagberg and Coelho. Nevertheless, it is sad that we will not see them racing in Daun!
Yokomo on the line with Prümper and Krapp
The Yokomo team must count on the quality of their two factory drivers Christopher Krapp and Yannic Prümper in Daun. This time, their teammates Loic Jasmin from France and Nicolas Lee from Singapore will not be able to make the trip to add some additional strength and experience to the team of the Japanese company! But as Prümper and Krapp are always drivers aiming for top results, Yokomo will be in a good situation with their BD10LC platform at the Sporthotel Grafenwald!
Völker targets Mugen Seiki`s first ever ETS title
If you like to win big titles, you need a driver who can bring big titles home – and Ronald Völker is one of these drivers! He is the record champion of the ETS Modified class where he already won six titles in the past for Yokomo. After his move to Mugen Seiki at the end of 2020, he had a pretty decent start into the ETS season with two dominant victories at Arena33. He also won another German national title in 2021. After his second place at the third ETS of the season in Apeldoorn, he arrived to RD4 in Neumünster leading the championship. The race in Neumünster didn`t went as Völker and his Mugen team had planned, but in the end, he still finished fourth in a „not a perfect weekend “, which shows the strength and the ambitions of Völker and his Mugen ride. Together with Mugen Seiki designer Robert Pietsch, Völker will try to score an even better result now in Daun where he won the last race in 2020. Robert Pietsch himself will also race in the Modified class to collect as much setup data as possible to adjust their MTC2 touring car perfectly to the track. Eric Dankel, who was a strong asset for the team during the outdoor season where he made the A-Main three times in a row, will miss the race in Daun (he also missed Neumünster) because of his Master`s degree demanding most of his time right now!
Schumacher trying to improve on carpet
After scoring two good results at the opening rounds of Season #14 at Arena33, the Schumacher team is looking for some pace since the races in Apeldoorn and Neumünster. Their top driver, Michal Orlowski, qualified for the A-Main at Arena33 and was right on speed there, but in the last two rounds he had to settle for the B-Main. This time he will be in Daun with Schumacher`s Onroad Engineer and 1:12 Stock world champion Andy Murray, and Pekko Ivonen. Let`s find our if Orlowski can make another A-Main with the Mi7 Pro touring car for the British RC car manufacturer.
Xray Pro Stock
Xray`s title at risk with Duchet not on the line in Daun
As championship leader Alexandre Duchet is also racing in the United States at the Snowbirds this weekend, he can only hope that any other driver instead of Simon Lauter (Awesomatix) will win the race in Daun. Lauter is the only driver with a chance to steal the overall title away from Duchet, and Lauter was in a great form in the last months. Duchet collected strong points at Arena33 (two wins) and in Neumünster (second place) but this weekend he will watch the races in Daun from a distance. Jan Ratheisky also made the trip to the US and in Daun it will be Lukas Ellerbrock leading the Xray drivers together with routinier David Ehrbar in the Pro Stock class. Can Ellerbrock do something to protect Duchet`s lead in the championship in Daun?
Big chance for Awesomatix and Lauter to close up
The Awesomatix team will have a big shot at ETS RD5 in Daun. Simon Lauter is their driver with high hopes and chances to win the overall title in the Xray Pro Stock class. With Xray`s top drivers Duchet and Ratheisky not attending the race due to their USA trip, it is a huge opportunity to bring Lauter even closer to championship leader Alexandre Duchet. After four rounds, Duchet is 4 points ahead of Lauter (one deletion result taken out). But when Simon Lauter will TQ and win in Daun, the championship will be wide open and even closer as before. It will be interesting to see how the huge Awesomatix team will deal strategy wise with this situation at ETS RD5 in the Sporthotel Grafenwald this weekend! All eyes will be on guys like Simon Lauter, Max Mächler, Alex Kunkler, Martin Hofer, Louis Kretschmer, Frederik Mikkelsen, Jesper Rasmussen and many more. But the main goal for Awesomatix will be clear – closing the gap to Xray´s Alexandre Duchet!
Mugen Seiki aims for fifth Pro Stock A-Main of the season
Since the release of their new MTC2 touring car platform, the Mugen Seiki team had at least one car in the A-Main during this ETS season. A huge step forward for the Japanese brand in the Xray Pro Stock class. With Alex Kunkler (Arena33), Tim Benson (Arena33 and Apeldoorn), and the duo of Jonas Völker and Mugen factory driver Berkan Kilic in Neumünster the team is having a strong season so far. At this weekend`s ETS RD5 in Daun we will see Berkan Kilic, Jonas Völker, Sebastian Meibörg, Maximilian Unterschütz, Kevin Sparbier, and others lining up on the grid with their Mugen Seiki cars. The team around car designer Robert Pietsch, lead driver Ronald Völker and team manager Patrick Beck is looking back on their most successful ETS campaign since Mugen Seiki entered the electric market and they want to continue like this for sure!
Another one for Yokomo`s Jung?
Enrico Jung still is the only “hot iron” in the Pro Stock class for Team Yokomo. But nevertheless, Jung did an amazing job throughout the whole season. He made three A-Mains and his average position during this season is P9 which is the same position he is holding in the overall championship of the Xray Pro Stock class. Yokomo can be happy to have him on board, they just need one more driver like him to strengthen their team for the next season in the Xray Pro Stock class. But for now, all eyes on Enrico Jung and his Yokomo car in Daun!
Hobbywing Frontwheel
Title race between Schulz and Olsen not decided yet
Stefan Schulz is sitting on top of the Hobbywing Frontwheel class. He is leading second placed Steven Olsen by comfortable 6 points now (one deletion result taken out) but is in the United States as well with the Xray team to be the race mechanic for Jan Ratheisky. This brings back some thrill to the fight for the title after Schulz looked very dominant with TQ`s and wins in the last 3 races of ETS Season #14 2021/22. Now, Steven Olsen sees some daylight again – and has some chances for still taking the title away from Schulz. When Olsen will be able to TQ and win the last two races of the season he will be tied on points with Schulz, and it will all come down to the tie breaker. But for sure, Steven Olsen will have a lot of competitors as the class is the biggest once again with 90 entries. Many very fast names are on the list for Daun, and it is almost impossible to point out Olsen`s hardest competitors before the race. Marvin Fritschler and Jonas Völker had been very quick in Neumünster, and they will try to improve their results for sure. Olsen will need a perfect weekend with a TQ and win to keep his championship hopes alive. Game on for a thrilling FWD race in Daun!
Orca 17.5 Stock
One last chance for Reile, advantage Bemmerl!
In the Orca 17.5 Stock class the situation is almost like in Hobbywing Frontwheel. Thomas Bemmerl is traveling to Daun with an advantage of 8 points over Dominik Reile. Both are the only drivers who scored race wins during the season (3 x Bemmerl, 1 x Reile), and especially Thomas Bemmerl looked very consistent so far. Daniel Pöhlmann has the same number of points on his favour as Reile, but he was not able to win a race in the season until now. Pöhlmann`s championship hopes died in Neumünster where he TQ`ed the event but finished only third overall after some bad racing luck in the finals. In Daun, the show will go on between Bemmerl and Reile. The only chance for Reile to turn things around are two pole positions and two victories in the last races of ETS Season #14 2021/22. We expect a thrilling race in the Orca 17.5 Stock class – let`s go for it!
ToniSport 40+ Masters
Can Morgen win his first ETS title in Daun?
Danish driver Caspar Morgen has the best initial situation when we head into the weekend in Daun. He is the championship leader of the ToniSport 40+ Masters class, with Mirco Thalheimer and Thomas Oehler behind him (tied). Until now, we saw four different winners during the season with Soren Boy Holst (RD1), Caspar Morgen (RD2), Elibert Sievers (RD3), and Toni Mateo (RD4). Caspar Morgen scored the best average points so far and only Thalheimer and Oehler can snatch the overall championship trophy away from Morgen. As Mirco Thalheimer is not on the list of drivers for Daun, Thomas Oehler is the last serious title contender for Caspar Morgen. The ToniSport 40+ Masters class produced great racing during the whole season, caused by the huge experience from most of the drivers racing in it. This weekend, the field is peppered with a lot of very good drivers in the ToniSport 40+ Masters class, and it will not be an easy task for the championship leaders to stay on top of the game. We hope to see a great showdown between Morgen and Oehler, and we wish everybody the best of luck at the Sporthotel Grafenwald!
Scorpion Formula
Ratheisky is champion, but who will win RD5 in Daun?
After ETS RD4 in Neumünster, nobody can take the title away from Jan Ratheisky anymore. The Xray driver won three out of four races this season and his gap to the rest of the field is big enough to skip ETS RD5 to attend the Snowbirds nationals in Orlando/USA with his Xray teammates. Ratheisky was dominating the season and is a well-deserved champion in the Scorpion Formula class. Congratulations Jan Ratheisky for another ETS Formula title! Now we must see who can win the race in Daun with Ratheisky not on track this weekend. The second placed driver in the ranking list, Renè Kölbel from Austria, is not sure if ha can make the trip to Daun. He suffered from health issues and had to stay in hospital last week. The whole ETS Family wishes Renè a speedy recovery, as health is the greatest good, we all have. Get well soon Renè! After kind of a weak turnout of F1 drivers in Neumünster, we expect almost 30 drivers in Daun to race on the new Matrix foam tires which are finally available for the class!
As you can see, there is a lot to expect from ETS RD5 at the Sporthotel Grafenwald. We are looking forward to welcome all of you there for ETS RD5 Season #14 2021/22!
Today we must inform you, that we had to cancel ETS RD6 Season #14 2021/22 in the Hudy Arena /SVK. As the Covid-19 restrictions are still very strict in Slovakia, the whole situation is not very safe and clear for the ETS crew to plan and organize an event there. With Slovakia only having a quote of around 50% of twice vaccinated people, we decided to NOT travel to the country for ETS RD6. It was not an easy decision for the ETS crew and ToniSport, but in the end we concluded to still think about the health and safety of our ETS family at first!
Early cancellation makes it easier for everybody
Together with the Hudy Family, we decided to cancel the race as they are expecting the restrictions to get even stricter in the next weeks. As we know that it needs a lot of preparation for racers to travel to the Hudy Arena, we decided to cancel the race right ahead of time to prevent our ETS family from any trouble when it comes to cancellation of vacation days, hotels, flights, rental cars and stuff like that.
Searching a new location for the ETS “Season Final”
When you read this message, the ETS crew has already started to find a new location for ETS RD6. We will update you as soon as we know if it will be possible to host our season final in a different country.
We are sorry for this message today, but we have no other chance to react to this situation and we hope for your understanding.
One week after we all raced together at ETS RD4 in Neumünster, our Media Team member Hanno van den Boogaard edited a short video clip from our amazing race at Chuck`s Raceway. Enjoy some impressions and let us take you back to the action and experiences from ETS RD4.
If you like, just check out Hanno`s YouTube Channel: RC Race Video
the fifth ETS race of the season is scheduled from 3rd to 6th of February 2022 and the Registration on MyRCM is still OPEN. If you want to be part of one of the biggest indoor Onroad events, just sign up on MyRCM and join us in Daun for ETS RD5 Season #14 2021/22!
High number of entries to expect
Until now we have a total of 265 entries for all six ETS racing classes on the list which is a real amazing turnout for us. As we hope for even more entries, here is the link for the Registration once again!
At the last ETS race in Neumünster, we made very good experiences with our hygienie concept and we ran the complet event under the 2G+ rule, which helped a lot to get green lights from the local authorities of Schleswig-Holstein. The 2G+ rule requires an additional self-test every day for a maximum amount of safety for everybody in the hall.
We already talked with the local authorities of Rheinland-Pfalz (the state where Daun is located), to find out what will be the way to go for our ETS race in the Sporthotel Grafenwald and it will be 2G+ as well. To make the testing as easy as possible for everybody, we were able to hire a pharmacy that will send their stuff to the hotel to do the daily Covid-19 tests directly in the facility of the Sporthotel Grafenwald. We are very happy with this solution as your health is the most important thing for us!
When there will be any changes we will inform you on time but for now the 2G+ rule is the way to go!
We hope to welcome all of you in Daun for a great weekend of racing at ETS RD5 Season #14 2021/22
From the 09. – 12. Dezember 2021, the fourth round of ETS Season #14 2021/22 took place in Neumünster/GER at Chuck`s Raceway. The carpet track was built up in a former indoor soccer hall and the ETS had enough space to host another event with great races and the typical ETS atmosphere. We saw amazing RC car racing once again and we are sure that you all liked to race on the track of Chuck`s Raceway. If you have not been there in person, we hope that you liked our event coverage on the eurorcseries.com website, as well as the live streams and heat videos on our YouTube channel.
Let go back to Neumümster to review the race results and some other things we noticed during the fourth round of the actual ETS campaign.
Complicated parameters ahead of ETS RD4
A huge thanks to all participants for their great discipline and responsibility
Hosting an event with more than 200 RC Car racers was never a problem in the past. The ETS had more than 400 registrations from time to time before the Covid-19 pandemic started to overrun the whole world. But after we are in this worldwide dilemma now for almost 2 years, the challenges for the ETS to host our beloved racing events became tremendous. Some weeks before the race in Neumünster, the number of Covid-19 infections went up dramatically fast in Germany. Until some days before the event, nobody could be 100% sure that it would finally happen! When we got “green lights” from the local authorities, we decided to run the event under the 2G+ rules which meant that everybody in the hall had to be vaccinated or recovered from the virus. The 2G+ rule also required a daily test to guarantee the best possible safety and health for everybody. All drivers and mechanics acted very respectful, and everything went smooth. As the local authorities came in to check the situation, they were totally satisfied with the way the event was organized! The whole ETS crew and the team from Chuck`s raceway would like to shout out a massive THANK YOU to everybody for showing responsible for yourself and others!
Chuck`s Raceway – RC Car Racing in northern Germany
A track layout that many racers will remember for a long time
The track in Neumünster was simply superb, and most of the drivers complimented the technical layout and the challenge they had to take when driving on it. The team of Chuck`s raceway around track designer Tim Benson did an amazing job and we had one of the best carpet tracks in the history of the ETS with zero bumps, nice curbs, well mounted barriers, and a huge rostrum. The only thing which could have been better was the lighting (which was not very bright) and the temperature in the hall but in the end, everybody was happy to race indoors at the ETS again!
Media coverage of ETS RD4
ETS media team with two different live streams in Neumüster
In cooperation with PullstartTV, the ETS brought their streaming camera system to Neumünster. Oliver Storm installed and activated it on Friday as soon as the controlled practice had started. This ensured a nice live streaming during the entire weekend and a lot of people watched the races from home. Additionally, ETS media team member and camera man Hanno van den Boogaard installed another static camera, and the viewers had the choice between the active PullstartTV system and a classic single camera live stream. Phil Richter was announcing the race again, Hartmut Wenzel was the responsible time keeper and referee Franz Heinsbroek was on the line to watch drivers racing each other in the finals. Uwe Rheinard once again managed everything else during the days and worked together with Jutta Treder who was in control of race tires and electronics. Photographer Tom Wald was also in charge with the media team and accepted the challenge of the bad lighting at Chuck`s Raceway to shoot a lot of pictures of drivers and cars. Reporter Patrick Beck did his job with writing all the reports and doing small interviews with drivers after their races. Sadly, he got stopped Saturday night as he had to visit an emergency dentist who hat to remove him a very inflamed wisdom tooth. This was the reason for the A2 and A3 report being online with a little delay on Sunday as Patrick wrote those reports after arriving at home. We hope that you guys are still liking our media teams work – if you have any kind of critique just let us know at any time!
Matrix Modified – the strongest Onroad racing class in the world!
Epic battle between Rheinard and Coelho while Manzo shines like a diamond
The Matrix Modified class is the premiere category at the ETS. And for everybody who is not sure about this – watch our videos from the triple A-Mains and you will know it from then. We saw amazing racing with a sensational A1 winner Michele Manzo and an epic drive from Coelho and Rheinard in A2 where they raced nose to tail for the entire 5 minutes. Modified racing is not easy and a lot of people don`t have the courage to try to race in this class but it is the only class where you can compete against the best touring car drivers on the planet. And even if you only watch these top guys from the sideline it is always magic and a great feeling when everybody is so impressed after these races.
Team and driver`s top performances
As we have already 4 ETS races in the books, we are looking forward to RD5 in Daun and the season final at RD6 in the Hudy Arena. These races are scheduled for February and March 2022 and we really hope that we can welcome you there. But what can we expect from the teams and their drivers for the final races on carpet? After one carpet race is done, we take a closer look on their performances now!
Awesomatix still on a high in all classes
Marc Rheinard showed his class with world class driving
Awesomatix top modified driver Marc Rheinard finished third behind race winner Bruno Coelho and Michele Manzo, but he showed one of his best performances at the ETS since a long time. It looked like he had the fastest car all weekend long, he just missed the TQ in qualifying. His second starting position meant that he had to overtake Bruno Coelho and – which we all saw is not an easy task. But with the great pace Rheinard showed in Neumünster, we can expect him to be in the fight for the win at RD5 in Daun for sure. Rheinard already announced on his social media, that he will be back in “full attack mode” in 2022.
Michele Manzo – the pride of Switzerland
Michele Manzo had the race of his life and booked his best ETS result with second overall. He described his A1 win as “very emotional” and he drove flawless all weekend long. Manzo made the A-Main 5 times in a row now after he joined Awesomatix at the end of 2019 and it looks like he is on a real high now! His teammate Tim Wahl qualified and finished fifth overall and made the A-Main again for the first time since RD1 at Arena33. Awesomatix latest signing, former 1:8 Nitro Buggy World Champion David Ronnefalk, finished 7th and Karri Salmela 9th (both made their first ETS A-Main). Awesomatix was the brand with the most cars in the Modified A-Main with a total of 5 A800MMX cars.
Simon Lauter continues winning in the Xray ProStock class
In the Xray ProStock class, the brand is still one of the strongest while they had 4 cars in the A-Main with Simon Lauter taking the overall win after starting from pole position. After this important win, Simon Lauter is totally in the game for the overall championship where he is fighting against Xray`s Alexandre Duchet. When Lauter will be able to carry his current form over into 2022 he can be very optimistic to claim the overall championship title for a second time after 2019.
Awesomatix wins the Orca 17.5 Stock and ToniSport 40+ Masters class
Thomas Bemmerl and Daniel Pöhlmann had a dominant weekend in the Orca 17.5 Stock class, Toni Mateo won the ToniSport 40+ Masters class and Marvin Fritschler and Jonas Völker stepped onto the podium of the Hobbywing Frontwheel class in second and third position. We can call ETS RD4 a huge success for the Russian manufacturer Awesomatix around team manager Max Mächler.
Xray taking the win in three classes
Bruno Coelho with a masterpiece of defensive driving in A2 & A3
With Bruno Coelho`s impressive drive ahead of a hard pushing Marc Rheinard, Xray took a second consecutive ETS win in the Matrix Modified class. Bruno had a lot of work to hold off Rheinard in the triple A-Mains and he did a brilliant job. His car looked strong in practice and qualifying, where he earned himself the TQ spot. But in the finals, Rheinard had the better pace in A1 and A2 and after only finishing 6th in A1 after a racing incident, Coelho had to deal with tremendous pressure in A2, but he finally brought home the win. In A3, after a small setup change on his X4, Bruno`s car looked much better and faster again and he was able to win ETS RD4 for his Xray team. Bruno Coelho is now in a good position of the championship as he still hast the chance to win the overall title. He and Ronald Völker (Mugen Seiki) both have 2 wins, including 2 TQ`s, on their score card and we cannot ask for more when we look forward to the last 2 races of the 14th ETS season.
Alexander Hagberg makes the main after tough qualifying as Brunet does the bump up
Coelho`s Xray teammate Alexander Hagberg had a tough qualifying and it looked like he could miss the A-main. His car looked good, but his times were relatively slow compared to his normal pace and maybe his set of tires was not as good as it should be. But finally, Alex had a solid Q3 and Q4 and made the A-Main to start 9th and finish 6th overall in the end. Marco Kaufmann and Antoine Brunet qualified for the A-Main as well (Brunet did the bump up from the B-Main) and they finished 10th and 11th overall making it 4 Xray cars in the Matrix Modified A-Main.
Alexandre Duchet still a candidate for overall title
After his second overall finish at ETD RD4 in Neumünster, Alexandre Duchet is still in the hunt for the overall ETS title in the Xray ProStock class. Duchet won the first two races of the season and booked a disappointing 5th place in Apeldoorn. With his result from the last weekend, he is still in a good situation, and he will fight with Awesomatix driver Simon Lauter for the title in Daun and in the Hudy Arena in Trencin. Jan Ratheisky finished 4th overall and Lukas Ellerbrock 11th.
Xray wins Hobbywing Frontwheel class and scores podiums in 40+ Masters and 17.5 Stock
In the Hobbywing Frontweel class, Stefan Schulz showed that he is still the man to beat after winning the race from pole position. It seems like he is the driver who can get the most out of his package now and with 3 race wins (compared to one win for Steven Olsen) he is close to the overall title in this important class at the ETS. In the ToniSport 40+ Masters class, Caspar Morgen was the fastest driver during practice and lined up third on the grid. After some thrilling finals he finished third overall and is still leading the overall championship. In the Orca 17.5 Stock class it was Jan Gehrig who finished 2nd overall after a great fight with the Awesomatix drivers Thomas Bemmerl and Daniel Pöhlmann.
Mugen Seiki with three cars in ProStock A-Main
Ronald Völker finished 4th in the Matrix Modified class after a tough weekend
Mugen Seiki`s lead driver Ronald Völker lacked a bit of pace during qualifying and started from 4th position into the finals. Not a bad starting position, but for Völker`s ambitions it was not a perfect weekend in Neumünster. His car just didn`t turn as sharp as the cars of his main competitors, and his average lap times have been just a little bit slower compared to Coelho, Rheinard and Manzo. Maybe he had the same problem as Hagberg, with a set of tires that was not as good as other sets. We will never know, but as we know about Völker`s regular pace on carpet it was kind of a surprise that he had no real shot for the overall win at Chuck`s Raceway. Together with Robert Pietsch he tried a lot of things on the car, but they were not able to get into the fight for the win during the weekend. For sure, Ronald will test a lot before the next race in Daun (which he won in 2020) to be even stronger at ETS RD5. As the fight for the overall title in the Matrix Modified class is now between him and Coelho, we can expect maximum tension when we head to the next ETS race in February 2022.
Berkan Kilic impresses in ProStock class at first ever ETS
In the Xray ProStock class, Mugen Seiki had the highest number of cars in the ProStock A-Main since the Japanese company started to compete in the electric 1:10 scale touring car class in 2017. Three Mugen Seiki MTC2 drivers qualified for the biggest show in stock touring car racing at the ETS. Berkan Kilic, normally known for his excellent 1:8 scale Offroad driving skills, showed that he also can go fast with a touring car and qualified 7th on the grid. Jonas Völker (Mr. StickonRC) qualified 9th and made his first ever ETS ProStock A-Main with a car that he borrowed from Ronald Völker. Both showed great driving and improved their positions in the finals to P6 (Kilic) and P8 (Völker). The third driver who qualified 4th on the grid with the MTC2 was Tim Benson. He started in A1 with the Mugen car but decided to run a car from a different manufacturer for A2 and A3 and left the Mugen Seiki team during the event due to personal reasons! However, it was a successful weekend for Mugen Seiki in the Xray ProStock class and the team will try to further improve the car for the upcoming events!
Kevin Sparbier wheeled the MTC2 FWD car in Neumünster
The new MTC2 FWD car from Mugen Seiki is available now since a couple of weeks and booked his first A-Main appearance at the ETS in the hands of Kevin Sparbier. He qualified and finished 7th overall in the Hobbywing Frontwheel class. A strong result on the first big race for Mugen Seiki`s new front wheel drive car!
Yokomo with cars in 3 different A-Mains at Chuck`s Raceway
Christopher Krapp – the A-Main guarantor for Yokomo
Christopher Krapp was the fastest Yokomo driver in Neumünster as he was able to qualify 6th on the grid in the Matrix Modified class. He finished 8th overall after some tough races in the finals but he once again was responsible to show the performance of the Yokomo BD10LC. His teammate Nicolas Lee from Singapore, who is always a potential top 10 driver, struggled a bit during the weekend and found himself in the B-Main. With Loic Jasmin and Yannic Prümper not racing at ETS RD4 in Neumünster, Yokomo missed both of them to achieve a stronger overall result with more teamwork and more cars collecting datas concerning the perfect setup for this track.
Enrico Jung with second “Bump Up” of the season
In the ProStock class, Yokomo`s Enrico Jung had to work hard for his third A-Main appearance of the season. He was BQ after qualifying and won the first B-Main in a dominant way to bump up into the A-Main for a second time this season. He is Yokomo`s top driver in the ProStock class at the moment and this role seems to give him a lot of confidence. Jung will do his very best to continue like this in his best ETS season so far!
Tim Dübel with great race in the FWD class at ETS debut
With Yokomo driver Tim Dübel, the Japanese RC manufacturer had at least one car in the A-Main of the Hobbywing Frontwheel drive class. Tim is normally racing 1:10 scale Offroad for Yokomo only and had his first onroad experience during ETS RD4 at Chuck`s Raceway. He drove some very good qualifiers which earned him a well-deserved 9th starting position for the finals. In the end he finished 11th overall for Yokomo.
First race on foam tires for Scorpion Formula class
Ratheisky stamps authority on Formula class at ETS RD4
The Scorpion Formula class saw the cars using foam tires for the first time in the history of the ETS. It looked like all drivers had to find a good and drivable setup in the beginning, but in the end, all cars looked good on track and the tires seemed to work good on the black ETS carpet. Jan Ratheisky conquered a relatively unchallenged win ahead of his competitors. He is driving in the Formula class since many many years now and he probably is the best Formula driver on earth right now (which he showed with winning the World up in 2018). With his biggest rival over the years, David Ehrbar, now racing touring car again it will be interesting to see when there will be somebody to fight with Jan for race wins in this class again! Behind Rtheisky, René Kölbel booked a strong second place finish making it a 1-2 for Xray on the podium. Sören Sparbier completed the top 3 of the Scorpion Formula class with his Serpent chassis! Another interesting story came from Jan Ratheisky and Kai Asmer (who is Jan`s father). Kai was able to make the “bump up” from the B-Main and so he raced together with his son in the Formula A-Main. Imagine how cool this is and think about Jos Verstappen racing a F1 race together with Max on track – only RC racing can write stories like this! The overall attendance in the Formula class was a little low this time. We will find out in the future, if the foam tires can bring back more racers to the F1 class as they normally perform great everywhere.
Other Highlights from ETS RD5 in Neumünster
Our media team is always trying to cover as much stories as possible during an ETS weekend. But as the days are long and a lot of action is going on all the time, our reporter cannot always be where the action happens! But here are some more highlights from ETS RD4:
Rarely cars and their drivers
Søren Boy Holst drove to a strong 5th place in the ToniSport 40+ Masters class with his Gizmo Genesis Mid 2022 touring car. The car from Gizmo USA is unique and not seen a lot out there at the ETS but he showed that it is possible to go fast with it. He also won ETS RD1 at Arena33 with a Gizmo car this season. You don`t always need the moset frequent car to have success on track!
Dominik Ruf once again made the A-Main in the Orca 17.5 Stock class with his Tamiya TRF 420MM H2RD touring car. Tamiya was a strong force at the ETS some years ago but since the shutdown of their factory team at the end of 2016, the number of Tamiya cars in the pits decreased. Dominik Ruf is a real Tamiya enthusiast and trusts in the products of the biggest RC Car company in the world. He is always pushing his Tamiya car to the limit and is competing in the 17.5 A-Main against the strong forces of Awesomatix and the other brands around him.
Elena Fuchs in Orca 17.5 Stock A-Main again
Young Elena Fuchs worked hard to qualify for her first ETS A-Main, which she finally achieved in Apeldoorn at RD3 where she finished 8th overall. She now was able to repeat this strong result on carpet as she qualified 9th to finish 8th overall. She is always working together with her father Frank Fuchs who is constantly in the A-Main of the ToniSport 40+ Masters class and it is great to see how she improved her skills during the season.
The “Beer Bet”
Jonas Völker used a Mugen Seiki car this weekend in the Xray ProStock class which he borrowed from his friend Ronald Völker. Right before the race, Jonas talked to Mugen team manager Patrick Beck and said: “When I will make the A-Main you have to buy me a lot of beer….!” Patrick accepted the challenge as he was not 100% sure if Jonas would be able to get it done. But right after Q4 when Jonas booked his spot in the final, Patrick went to the supermarket and bought Jonas a punnet of canned beer. Betting debts are debts of honour!

We hope you liked this small recap of our beautiful weekend in Neumünster from ETS RD4 Season #14 2021/22. Now we will head into a little Christmas break, and we hope to see all of you (and many more) at the beginning of February 2022 when the ETS will stop in the Sporthotel Grafenwald in Daun for RD5.

ETS Crew (Uwe, Scotty, Hartmut, Jutta, Malo, Hanno, Oliver, Tom, Phil, Franz, Toni, Oli and Patrick)
