ETS A1 Report RD6 Season #15 2022/23

0

The first round of Finals was scheduled for Saturday evening, and all drivers looked forward to start from the grid “on the sound of the tone”. The A-Mains had been spectacular to watch and in this report you will find all the information about the races!

Matrix Modified

Orlowski wins A1 in front of hard pushing Volker as Rheinard flew off the track

In the first Matrix Modified A-Main, we saw Michal Orlowski with a perfect start off the line. He was leading for the entire race and was able to hold off Ronald Völker, who was absolutely pushing his car to the limit to set him under pressure. But Orlowski stayed calm, and made no mistakes until he crossed the finish line.
Marc Rheinard was also in the mix during the first half of the race, where he was driving in third place with his Orca powered Awesomatix A800R. Reinhard’s goal was to attack Völker in front of him for the overall championship. At the 2:30 minute mark, Rheinard was riding the curb in the fast left hander of the left track section a little too much, and his car flew into the fence. His race was done!

Behind A1 winner Orlowski and second placed Völker, it was the Yokomo duo of Christopher Krapp and Yannic Prümper earning P3 and P4 while Lucas Urbain finished fifth. A1 was a big break for Orlowski in case of winning the event, and a very good result for Völker in direction championship title. Rheinard needs to get by Völker in both of tomorrows remaining finals to keep his championship chances alive!

Awesomatix ProStock

Lauter wins A1 like a real champion

In the Awesomatix Pro Stock class, Simon Lauter never looked back after the sound of the tone. He had everything under control and drove to an unchallenged win in front of a strong teammate Lukas Ellerbrock. Oliver Krähemann, Patrick Danielsen, and Sören Sparbier finished in the same order they started and took positions 3 to 5. A great run from the back-to-back ETS champion Simon Lauter which once again showed that he is the dominant force of the Pro Stock class at the ETS.

Hobbywing Frontwheel

Masterclass from Sparbier in the first FWD A-Main

Hobbywing Frontwheel TQ Sören Sparbier won his first A-Main in his ETS racing career here in Daun. He started from pole position and converted it into a very impressive win. ETS champion Stefan Schulz was all over him in the early stages of the race until he had to stop his car after a driving mistake which ended in a crash. After Schulz had disappeared from the rear-view mirror of Sparbier`s Mugen Seiki car, it was Awesomatix driver Roman Borschel who was closing in on Sparbier. But Sören Sparbier showed strong nerves, made no mistakes, and brought home an important win in the first A-Main under the applause of the audience! Roman Borschel, Meik Niemann, Henrik Heitsch, and Nicolas Delisé rounded out the top 5 on Saturday evening!

Orca 17.5 Stock

Perfect drive from Reile in first 17.5 Stock A-Main

Dominik Reile showed that he still can convert pole positions into race wins. After having several bad runs from the pole position during the season, he found his winning attitude again and brought the day to a perfect ending with winning the first Orca 17.5 Stock A-Main. Reiles championship rival Jasmin Donath also showed an amazingly clean race and crossed the line only 0.270 seconds behind Reile. What a clinic drive from these two amazing drivers out front. The gap to third placed Roman Borschel was about 4 seconds which shows the extra class of Reile and Donath in A1. Henrik Heitsch drove from 6 to 4, and Kevin Schmid finished fifth.

Everything looks really good for Dominik Reile now, but he needs another brilliant run on Sunday to receive the big trophy from Scotty and Uwe. Jasmin Donath will try everything she can to fight back on Sunday and she has shown that the pace is there. It is game on in the Orca 17.5 Stock class!

ToniSport 40+ Masters

No mistakes from Zierold as he takes A1 from Stankowitz and Morgen

Pole sitter Michel Zierold is still on a high here at the ETS season finale in Daun. He won the first A-Main with a defensive driving (because of the overall championship) Manuel Stankowitz in tow. Andreas Myrberg had a traction roll in the early stages of the run and dropped all the way down to the end of the pack, while Torsten Baggendorf and Ulrich Dinger finished fourth and fifth behind third placed Caspar Morgen.
Manuel Stankowitz is only one A-Main away from becoming ETS champion in the 40+ Masters class, he just needs to finish ahead of Toni Mateo one more time. Sunday morning will tell us more about this story!

Scorpion Formula

Hard pushing Kölbel found no way to attack Stiebler in A1

The first A-Main of the Scorpion Formula class was a two-horse race between Andreas Stiebler and René Kölbel. Both had a very clean race, and no matter how hard Kölbel was pushing, there was no chance to come close enough to Andreas Stiebler. A big break for the Schumacher driver Stiebler who would become ETS champion if he can repeat this result just one more time on Sunday. Gergö Valent and Herbert Weber continued with the nice fight they had all weekend long and finished right behind Stiebler and Kölbel in third and fourth position.

Hobbywing Frontwheel

Sparbier seals first FWD TQ for Mugen Seiki

Sören Sparbier posted another TQ run in the last round of Hobbywing Frontwheel qualifying and took the pole position away from Stefan Schulz in the very last minute. A great debut for Sören Sparbier who is running Mugen Seiki cars here in Daun for the first time. It was a super close race and Sparbier was slowly closing in on the Xray car of Schulz who was running in front of him. Stefan Schulz showed great sportsmanship with opening up a small gap to allow Sparbier going by. Thats how its done at the highest level of rc racing! After finishing second in this heat, Stefan Schulz (Xray) will line up directly behind Sparbier, with a very quick Roman Borschel (Awesomatix) in third place.
After Steven Olsen was sadly not able to make the A-Main, nobody can take the title away from Stefan Schulz anymore, and he can celebrate the season win with a nice trophy on Sunday. But before spraying champagne, we are looking forward to some great races in the Hobbywing Frontwheel class at the ETS season finale!

ETS Q3 Report RD6 Season #15 2022/23

0

Round three of qualifying is in the books and we have seen the first TQ decision here at the ETS season finale. Adreas Stiebler will start from first on the grid in the Scorpion Formula class, while all other TQs will be decided in the upcoming last qualifier of ETS season #15 2022/23. Until then, read our Q3 report and find out what happened!

Matrix Modified

Another TQ run for Völker as he takes Q3 by 0.049 from Orlowski

The third round of Matrix Modified qualifying was a show of world class rc car racing. Michal Orlowski had the best start into the heat and was leading from Rheinard and Völker in the first 3 minutes. His gap was at 0.7 seconds before Völker found his rythm and closed the gap until he was leading by 0.1 to 0.2 seconds ahead of Orlowski and Rheinard. They were matching laptimes lap after lap, and in the end it was Völker who had the best outcome of the heat with his second TQ run of the event. Orlowski and Rheinard followed in second and third, while Ronnefalk and Krapp scored another top 5 finish as well.
The decision for the overall TQ comes down to the line between Orlowski and Völker in the last round of qualifying, with Marc Rheinard also having a chance to grab second place on the grid if he can win the last one. For the Yokomo drivers Yannic Prümper and Christopher Krapp, as well as Awesomatix Lucas Urbain, the chances for the title are gone after there is no more chance to TQ the event for them!

Awesomatix ProStock

Pro Stock Q3 goes to Ellerbrock while Lauter is already ETS champion

The third round of qualifying was taken by Awesomatix driver Lukas Ellerbrock. His advantage from second place finisher Patrick Danielsen (Xray) was 0.5 seconds at the end of the run. Oliver Krähemann (Awesomatix) continued to score great results here in Daun with a third place for the round, and Olivier Bultynck (Awesomatix) followed him in fourth place. Mugen Seiki`s Sören Sparbier posted the fifth fastest time coming out of the second fastest group and is sitting in fourth place overall now! Simon Lauter had a terrible first lap of the race and lost some seconds, which let him stop the car atfter three minutes. The decision for the overall TQ is moved into the upcoming last round of qualifying and everybody is already excited about the outcome of Q4.
However, with Max Mächler not having a chance to TQ the race anymore, Simon Lauter is already the inofficial Awesomatix Pro Stock champion of ETS Season #15 2022/23 – congratulations Simon!

Hobbywing Frontwheel

Sparbier wins Q3 in front of Schulz and Niemann

In the third round of Hobbywing Frontwheel qualifying, Sören Sparbier (Mugen Seiki) was the driver posting a strong TQ run. He was the only driver making the extra lap (16 lap run), which allowed him to make a small mistake in this last lap without loosing any position!
Behind Sparbier, Xray`s Stefan Schulz finished second, with Meik Niemann, Roman Borschel, and Ulrich Dinger completing the top 5.
When looking on the overall championship, it seems like Steven Olsen has lost all chances with sitting on a B-Main position right now. He will need kind of a miracle to make the A-Main, or at least finish in front of Schulz at the end of the weekend. It is not decided yet, but everything looks very very promising for Stefan Schulz now!

Behind her, Dominik Reile took the second place, only 0.9 seconds behind Jasmin Donath. The fight for the title is getting closer and closer between Dominik and Jasmin now and we are optimistic to see some epic battles in the finals between them. Kevin Schmid, Roman Borschel, and Daniel Pöhlmann completed the top 5 during the third round of Orca 17.5 Stock qualifying.

TQ decision shifted to Q4 as Stankowitz wins third round of Masters qualifying

Manuel Stankowitz (Awesomatix) was sending out a signal to his competitors as he took the win in the early Saturday morning qualifier at the Sporthotel Grafenwald in Daun. This TQ run brought him back into the fight for the pole position. However, it is still Michel Zierold (Awesomatix) with the fastest runtime (from Q2) on his scorecard but the TQ run was important for Stankowitz to secure a starting spot ahead of Toni Mateo in the fight for the championship. Andreas Myrberg (Iris), Caspar Morgen (Xray), and Torsten Baggendorf (Awesomatix) completed the top 5.

Matrix Modified

Völker bounces back in Q2, Rheinard second, Orlowski flips in opening lap

In the opening lap of Matrix Modified Q2, Michal Orlowski had a traction roll with his Schumacher car in the opening lap and dropped all the way back to the end of the field. Meanwhile, Ronald Völker was leading the race with his LRP powered Mugen Seiki, with Rheinard`s Orca powered Awesomatix A800R right in tow. It was a very close race for the whole 5 minutes, and Ronald Völker was able to bring home the very important win in this heat to keep the chances for the pole position alive. Marc Rheinard crossed the line 0,9 seconds behind Völker and is still in striking distance when looking on the overall championship.
Christopher Krapp (Yokomo), David Ronnefalk (Awesomatix), and Lucas Urbain (Awesomatix) rounded out the top 5 in the last heat of qualifying on a very long Friday in Daun.

Awesomatix ProStock

Another win for Lauter, this time ahead of Sparbier and Krähemann

The second Awesomatix Pro Stock qualifier was another show of Simon Lauter`s extra class. After winning a complicated Q1, he drove without any mistake and scored his second TQ run of the event. Behins Awesomatix driver Lauter, Mugen Seiki`s Sören Sparbier had an amazing run to second place for the round with Oliver Krähemann (Awesomatix) taking third place. Louis Kretschmer (Awesomatix) and Olivier Bultynck (Awesomatix) rounded out the top 5.
With his second TQ run, Simon Lauter is only one run away from the pole position, AND the overall championship. His only contender Mächler needs a TQ and race win here in Daun to take the title away from Lauter, but with missing pole position his hopes for the title would go up in smoke. However, we will know more after the third, or at least fourth round of qualifying on Saturday.

Hobbywing Frontwheel

Unstoppable Schulz continues winning in FWD

After winning Q1, Stefan Schulz was on point again in the second round of FWD qualifying. His gap in front of second placed driver Roman Borschel was 0.2 seconds, and he is only one run away from a possible pole position in Daun which would be a huge break for the championship.
Roman Borschel finished second in Q2, and Sören Sparbier took the points for third place.

Orca 17.5 Stock

Borschel, Donath, Schmid, and Reile nose to tail in Q2

Roman Borschel took the second qualifier in the Orca 17.5 Stock class. But what an intense race it was! The top four finished within 0.413 of a second – that`s crazy, isn`t it? Daniel Pöhlmann finished fifth for the round, another second behind the top four. The overall ranking list on Saturday evening is listing Q1 winner Dominik Reile on top, with championship contender Jasmin Donath in third position. Everything is wide open and the decision for pole position and all A-Main spots will be on the line on Saturday morning here at the ETS season finale.

ToniSport 40+ Masters

Zierold again in Q2, Stankowitz now second overall with Mateo dropping down to eight place

Michel Zierold is on a mission here at ETS RD6 in Daun. He won the second round of qualifying and has two TQ runs to his favour now. He has nothing to do with the fight for the overall championship title, and he is driving very relaxed and without any pressure. The situation for Manuel Stankowitz is different. He is sitting in second spot now which looks very promising for him as Toni Mateo is only ranked in eight place after Q2. Even if qualifying is only halfway done, we can see the pendulum swinging a little bit to the side of Manuel Stankowitz.
Iris car designer Andreas Myrberg is sitting in third place now and it looks like he can also be in contention for the race win here in Daun. Torsten Baggendorf posted another fourth place and has booked his place on the A-Main starting grid for sure now. Caspar Morgen from Denmark is sitting in fifth place overnight!

Behind the leaders it was once more a fight for third and fourth between Herbert Weber and Gergö Valent. A much improved Jacques Libar posted the fifth fastest time in the second round of Scorpion Formula qualifying.
