5 things to watch at ETS RD5 Season #16 at the Sporthotel Grafenwald in Daun, GER

Before we head into our racing weekend, we always give you some interesting things to watch. The sixteenth season of the Euro Touring Series is slowly approaching the home straight, and the penultimate race in Daun is just around the corner. Before the weekend kicks off, we would like to focus on 5 interesting topics for ETS RD5!

1.) Biggest ever turnout in the Hobbywing Frontwheel class

The Hobbywing Frontwheel class is a part of the ETS since 2019. Since the class was implemented, it is a huge success and a pure joy to watch. Champions like Schulz and Izsay have been crowned, and many drivers won their first ETS race in this class (for example: Olsen, Heitsch, Jung, Borschel, Sparbier).

The FWD class is THE class for the ambitioned hobby racer who is just looking for some fun with his friends, but it is also a class for some great competition on top of the field. This upcoming weekend, we will see our biggest turnout ever with 116 entries and we are maximum proud of that. We wish everybody the maximum amount of fun in the FWD class and like to say THANK YOU for your ongoing support!

2.) Yokomo`s newest signing Brunet back at the ETS

In 2021, Antoine Brunet’s star rose in the ETS sky when he finished a sensational second place behind Ronald Völker at Arena33 in Andernach. Bruno Coehlo was unable to take part at the time due to coronavirus travel regulations, and Brunet stepped into the breach and did a sensational job for Xray.

After almost 2 years away from the ETS, Brunet is now back with his new chassis sponsor Yokomo. We are all very excited about him, and especially how he will find his way in his new team with Krapp and Prümper. At last weekend`s GP3F in France, Brunet finished only in the B-Main. We know that he has a great speed and we are sure that he will be a strong asset for Yokomo`s factory team in the future. Welcome back to the ETS Antoine Brunet!

3.) Greiner with first ETS attendance after retiring from nitro racing

One of the best nitro racers of the last 10 years (1 x IFMAR world champion, 3 x EFRA european champion) has announced his retirement from nito racing at the end of 2023 – Dominic Greiner. What sounded like the end of a carreer in the first minute has now turned into Domnic Greiner racing electric touring cars for Serpent. He did some electric races in the past, but never took it really serious as nitro racing was his major approach to RC.

Greiner is practicing and racing electric touring car frequently now and placed his entry for the Matrix Modified class. As we all know about Greiner`s huge talent, we are lookign forward to see him compete against the top drivers of the premiere electric 1:10 scale onroad class. Greiner will need some time to get into the groove, and he will start his electric racing campaign next week in Daun. Welcome to the electric racing family Dominic!

4.) EAM Batteries hitting Europe

EAM, the brand of US racer Eric Anderson is well-known for their range of lipo batteries in the United States. They had many great results at several races, and won the 1:12 scale stock world championships at the end of 2023 with Max Mächler (Awesomatix). Now, the batteries are available in europe with Max Mächler appointed as their team manager and RC Kleinkram as the distributor.

The EAM team has already signed some very good drivers (Olivier Bultynck, Max Mächler), and we are excited to see a new battery brand competing at the ETS. We will check their results again after the race in Daun and inform you about the batteries they used.

5.) Tobi`s Cafeteria – always there for you

Food and Drinks are VERY IMPORTANT at an RC racing event. Especially in Daun, the job of doing the catering is very demanding. With super long days from 6:30 in the morning almost until midnight, it is a hell of a job. Everything must be brought to Daun, and you can imagine how much snacks, meals, coffee, and cold drinks the 370 racers need over the 4 days of the event.

We are more than happy to have ETS racer Tobias Baumbach and his colleague Jörg Buchner caring about us again. Tobias and Jörg are both professional chefs and, as in previous years, they will be preparing good and tasty food for all racers in Daun. Stop by, say hello, and support their trackside cafeteria business as they are really working theia a.. off for us!
