On the sound of the tone, TQ Michal Orlowski brought the field around the first lap and saw Ronald Völker, Simon Lauter, and Bruno Coelho following him around the Arena33 track in Andernach. Orlowski was pulling a small gap to Völker in lap one before their laptimes started to stay almost the same.
Behind Orlowski and Coelho, we could see a hard defending Simon Lauter who had Bruno Coelho “all over him”. Coelho tried a move on Lauter but lost a position to Prümper – to just get it back two laps later again.
At the end of A1, Orlowski won with a gap of 1.1 seconds in front of Ronald Völker. Simon Lauter finished third and was another two seconds behind Völker. Bruno Coelho had to settle for fourth place in A1 and was followed by Yannic Prümper and Eric Dankel.
With A2 starting later today under the lights of Arena33, the thrill for the day was not over after an intense first final in the Cayote Modified class.
So much pressure – Izsay stands his ground to win A1 from Langner and Ratheisky
In the first A-Main of the Awesomatix Pro Stock class, top qualifier Adam Izsay was putting his head down and executed a perfect race on top of the field. Izsay saw Jan Ratheisky hunting him down during the first laps before Ratheisky went a bit wide coming onto the straightway.
Phil Langner took full advantage of that and pulled an inside move on Ratheisky – great to watch. In the following three minutes we could see perfect Pro Stock driving from Izsay, Langner, Ratheisky, and Kriz and Izsay took the very important win in the first final. Phil Langner showed what he is capable of and brought home a strong second place.
Iceman Borschel takes opening FWD A-Main at Arena33
Roman Borschel drove the perfect race in A1 and took the win from start to finish. For Stefan Schulz and Kevin Schmid, A1 was a different story. They had an amazing battle for the entire five minutes and it was Schmid who could bring home P2 ahead of Schulz, Weffers, and Degoes. This first final showed great FWD racing from everybody and we cannot wait for teh next one!
Unstoppable Ehrbar wins A1 from Mateo and Dinger
Xray driver David Ehrbar took the win in A1 – even with a small error in lap 9 which had almost cost him the lead.Ehrbar was super-fast (hot lap 20.583) and behind him we saw Toni Mateo creating a lot of pressure on Mirco Thalheimer who was runnign in second place before he made a costly mistake allowing Mateo and Dinger to go by.
The top 5 finishing order after five minutes: Ehrbar, Mateo, Dinger, Thalheimer, and Stankowitz.
Hiesch takes thrilling first final after Kappes and Anthes had a contact
Top qualifiern Daniel Anthes had a very intense fight with second place starter Christoph Kappes in A1 of the Hobbywing 21.5 Stock class. Kappes was chasing Anthes around the track and it was really nice to watch.
Daniel Hiesch could almost match the pace of the leaders and never lost contact to them. In lap 8 of the race it happened: Kappes was very close to Anthes in front of the driver stand and they had an unlucky collision ending in a big loss of time for both drivers.
Daniel Hiesch took full advantage with his Awesomatix car and took the win in A1 ahead of Anthes, Kuschnarew (from 11 to 3), Buchwald, and Weffers.
A-Main number one goes to Xray
Martin Hudy converted his Formula pole position into A1 victory after a clean run on the challenging Arena33 track. His advantage over Schumacher driver Andreas Stiebler was at around 1.2 seconds while Stiebler had a nice battle for second and third place with David Ehrbar and Jacques Libar. Michal Wojcik finished fifth in A1 in front of Luka Jovicic and Chris Grenz.
