Matrix Modified

Mugen`s Völker takes A3 to secure second overall

Ronald Völker (Mugen Seiki) took the win in the last final of the Matrix Modified class. Völker started from pole as race winner Coelho had to sit out A3 and he crossed the finish line 1.4 seconds ahead of Yannic Prümper who had a great fight with Marc Rheinard during the entire race. With his second place in A3, Yannic will step onto the podium together with Coelho and Völker as Rheinard had to take fourth overall here in Apeldoorn. Yokomo`s Christopher Krapp completes the overall top 5.

We talked to the overall top 3 after the trophy ceremony and here is what they had to say:

It was a perfect weekend for me and my team as we wanted to achieve the best possible result with our new X4 platform. Now we walk away from the Netherlands with the win and we couldn`t ask for more. Also for myself it is great to be back in competition as I could not attend a touring car race in the last 12 months.

Bruno Coelho, Xray/Hobbywing

For sure I wanted to win this race here in Apeldoorn but P2 is not a bad result in the end. I was happy with my LRP powered Mugen Seiki car all weekend and the gap to Bruno was small all the time. He did a good job and deserved the win. I also want to point out that it is really amazing to see the growing numbers of Mugen cars in the pits and I am happy that Eric made the Main here as well.

Ronald Völker, Mugen Seiki/LRP

My weekend was very good and I am absolutely satisfied with third overall. I had a really good pace and tried everything to close the gap to Bruno and Ronald with my Dash powered Yokomo. With finishing third here in the Netherlands after finishing on the podium at RD2 in Arena33 as well it shows that we are on the right way with our car. We had three cras in the A-Main with Krappi taking 5th and Loic 7th overall.

Xray ProStock

Lauter wins big for Awesomatix

In the Xray ProStock class we saw another super close and eventful final in the last leg. It was all about Tim Benson (Mugen Seiki) and Simon Lauter (Awesomatix) and Simon was able to put huge pressure on Benson directly after the start.
As the pressure reached the maximum, Benson and Lauter went on the main straight side by side and the cars touched each other just a little bit. Nothing big at all but enough to let Benson`s car fly of the straight into the barriers. He could continue his run but was not able to recover anymore. As it was just a normal racing incident, Simon Lauter was taking full advantage of it bringing home the overall victory in the Xray ProStock class at ETS RD3 in Apeldoorn. What a great result for Lauter in this field of world class ProStock drivers!
Tim Benson finished second and Lukas Ellerbrock (Xray) in third on the podium.

Matrix Modified

Coelho wins it for Xray

Bruno Coelho is the overall winner in the Matrix Modified class making it a perfect debut for the new Xray X4 touring car platform. Bruno had another great start into the second final and was able to maintain his gap of around 1.0 seconds ahead of Völker until he crossed the finish line.

Völker (Mugen Seiki) was not able to close the gap which Coelho opened in the first laps, but he pushed hard to make it happen. In the end Völker booked another second place in front of Yannic Prümper (Yokomo), Christopher Krapp (Yokomo) and Antoine Brunet (Xray).
In the middle of the race we saw a very unlucky situation between Rheinard, Hagberg and Krapp which cost Hagberg a lot of positions and Rheinard got a stop and go penalty which also was not neccessary as the critical contact was not only between Marc and Alex – terrible luck for all of the guys in this racing situation. The referree apologized to Marc for the stop and go penalty as he saw that giving the penalty was a mistake – great sportsmanship in the end!
With Coelho sitting out A3 after already walking away with the overall win, the fight for second spot is still alive between Völker and Prümper and we can expect another exciting race in A3 of the Matrix Modified class.

Xray ProStock

Lauter takes A2 after dramatic last lap

The second leg of A-Mains in the Xray ProStock class was a thriller until the last corner when Simon Lauter (Awesomatix) made an amazing pass on race leader Tim Benson (Mugen Seiki). But let`s start at the beginning. Tim Benson had a great start and behind him, Simon Lauter saw Alexandre Duchet (Xray) pushing hard once again. After the first couple of laps Duchet made a mistake and was on the grass with 2 wheels which allowed Simon Lauter to focus on race leader Benson again.
Lauter then closed the 0.6 second gap all the way down to 0.1 seconds and in the last lap Benson had not the perfect entry onto the main straight. They went into the chicane side by side and Lauter gave Benson enough space just to pass him in the following teardrop after the chicane only some meters in front of the finish line to win a dramatic second final. Alexandre Duchet also found his way by Benson on the last meters to take second place.

A2 winner Simon Lauter told us after the run:

I had so many close “second places” in my last races and this time I tried everything to make it happen. In the end it was an amazing fight until the last lap with the better end for me this time. Now I am looking forward to A3 where I will go “All In” again!

Simon Lauter, Awesomatix / LRP

Behind Lauter, Duchet and Benson it was Lukas Ellerbrock (Xray) and Jan Ratheisky (Xray) completing the top 5. We are looking forward to the deciding third A-Main where Benson, Lauter and Duchet will fight for the overall win at ETS RD3 in the Netherlands.

Hobbywing Frontwheel

Schulz victorious in Apeldoorn

Stefan Schulz is the overall winner in the Hobbywing Frontwheel drive class at ETS RD3. He had another strong race on the track of the AMCA Apeldoorn and took A2 with 0.3 seconds in front of Steven Olsen who also showed a strong performance once again. It looks like we will have a close fight between Olsen and Schulz for the ETS championship title until the very end of the season.

FWD winner Stefan Schulz was really delighted after his win and said:

It was a clean run from my side in A2 but I always felt the pressure from Steven who performed so strong this weekend again. Racing with him is always fair and on a very high level and I have to compliment him for his driving. Now I took over the lead in the championship and I hope that I can stay on top until the end!

Orca 17.5 Stock

Reile breaks Bemmerl`s winning streak

After Thomas Bemmerl was on a winning streak in the last 3 ETS races, Dominik Reile finally broke up Bemmerl`s amazing series with taking A2 and the overall win in the Orca 17.5 Stock class here in Apeldoorn. Reile took advantage of his first starting position again and took it from tone to tone in front of Daniel Pöhlmann, who crossed the line 2.1 seconds behind Reile.
David Kuschnarew (3), Thomas Bemmerl (4) and Felix Schneider (5) completed the top 5 in A2.

We talked to Dominik Reile after his first ever win at the ETS:

Before the second final I tried to stay fucussed as I was more nervous on the line. But as soon as the race started everything went perfect for me as the guys behind me were fighting with each other. My goal for the rest of the run was to just keep the rubber on the tarmac and staying away from the curbs. It feels really amazing to win a race at such a high level of competition and I am super happy!

Infinity 40+ Masters

Sievers fights back in A2

After having a bad first final (9), Elibert Sievers took the second leg of A-Mains in the ToniSport 40+ Masters class. He was able to lead for the entire race but he had to stay calm as A1 winner Toni Mateo was all over him. In the last laps Mateo tried everything but there was no way by the car of Elibert Sievers. We will see the decision about the overall win in A3 and it will be all between Sievers, Stankowitz and Mateo.

Scorpion Formula

Miedema seals the deal in A2

After the second leg of A-Mains in the Scorpion Formula class, Dutch driver Jitse Miedema is the overall winner after another brilliant drive from his pole position. Jitse took A2 with 3.7 seconds ahead of Jan Ratheisky, Herbert Weber (3), Renè Kölbel (4), Bram Lagerwey (5) and Chris Grenz (6) while David Ehrbar had another tough run finishing only in sixth position.

Jitse Miedema was very happy after taking thw win in the Scorpion Formula class and told us in a quick chat:

My start in A2 was excellent as the rear tires had been in the perfect temperature window – I just punched it and had a clean run afterwards. My teammate Robin van Gog also had a good start and was running second for a while which helped me to stretch out my lead lap after lap. I am very happy about my third ETS race win in the Formula class and it is great to win a race in my home country here this weekend!

Matrix Modified

Coelho wins A1 in Apeldoorn

In the Matrix Modified class it was Xray`s Bruno Coelho who had a decent start into the final day here in the Netherlands. Coelho had a perfect first lap and was able to open a small gap between his Hobbywing powered Xray and Völker`s LRP powered Mugen Seiki car. Third place starter Yannic Prümper used his Dash power to follow Völker very closely in the first laps of the race. But as Yannic had Hagberg and Rheinard in his rear-view mirror as well, Völker and Coelho were able to check out in the front.
After some laps, it looked like Völker found a good rhythm as he could reduce his gap to Coelho by a couple of tenths. But as Völker was up on two wheels in front of the driver stand in lap 9, he lost that time again and Bruno was able to win A1 tone to tone after a very impressive run from pole position.
Marc Rheinard (Awesomatix) finished third after a very intense battle with Prümper and Hagberg. In the end of A1, Antoine Brunet (Xray) finished fourth and Christopher Krapp (Yokomo) fifth while Prümper and Hagberg dropped back to the end of the field.

Asked about his run, race winner Bruno Coelho said:

I was surprised about the huge traction the track had this morning. My car felt really good and I could benefit from that in the opening laps of the race. I tried to control the gap to Völker and after he had a little mistake, I had some more breathing room and won the first final which is always very helpful!

Bruno Coelho, Xray/Hobbywing

Second place finisher Ronald Völker also had a quick chat with us:

After the start I lost some ground to Bruno in the opening lap. But then I got back into a very good rhythm and tried to create some pressure. After I was on two wheels in front of the driver stand the gap was too big and I had to settle for second in the end.

A1 goes to Benson

Tim Benson (Mugen Seiki) took the win in A1 of the Xray ProStock class here on Sunday morning at ETS RD3 in Apeldoorn. He was able to open up a small gap in the beginning as Duchet (Xray) and Lauter (Awesomatix) had a nice fight for second and third.
After Duchet had a mistake, Simon Lauter was able to close the gap to Benson but in the end, he ran out of time and Tim Benson won the race – a perfect start into the triple A-Mains for him.
Lukas Ellerbrock (Xray), Frederik Mikkelsen (Awesomatix) and Martin Hofer (Awesomatix) vompleted the top5.

Hobbywing Frontwheel

Schulz resists Olsens pressure to win A1

In the Hobbywing Frontwheel class, top qualifier Stefan Schulz took the win in A1 in front of his rival Steven Olsen. Schulz was leading the race after a good start from his pole position and Olsen kept the pressure as high as possible during the entire run. In the last minute the gap between them was around 0.5 seconds but Olsen never got into the position to start a serious attack as Schulz simply made no mistakes in the front.
Mischa Kroos crossed the line in third position in front of Manuel Stankowitz (4) and Jacques Libar (5). Can Olsen turn it to his favor in A2 or will Schulz seal the win to take over the championship lead in the Hobbywing Frontwheel class?

Find out who made it into the big show in our Q4 report!

Matrix Modified

Coelho is top qualifier in the Netherlands

Bruno Coelho will start from the pole position into the triple A-Mains of the Matrix Modified class at ETS RD3 on Sunday. The Xray factory driver won the last round of qualifying in front of Mugen Seiki`s Ronald Völker and Yokomo`s Yannic Prümper. Alexander Hagberg (Xray) will line up fourth on the grid after making a mistake in lap 19 while running in second. Awesomatix driver Marc Rheinard will attack from the fifth position!

Top qualifier Bruno Coelho had the following to say about his day and the upcoming finals:

It is great to start on pole here in Apeldoorn. But as the gap to the others was always very small, I expect difficult finals to be honest. On this track the first 3-4 laps are very important and not easy as you can win or loose everything. I will focus on having a good start and when the cars behind me also fighting for positions it maybe will help me to build up a gap to them.

Bruno Coelho, Xray/Hobbywing

We also talked with second qualifier Ronald Völker after Q4:

After Q3 I thought that I maybe might lose my second position to Alex in the last round of qualifying. But luck was on my side and I am still second on the grid. For tomorrow I will try to get my car on point as it will be important to build up as much pressure as possible directly after the start!

Miedema takes last minute TQ

Jitse Miedema is the overall TQ in the Scorpion Formula class at ETS RD3 in Apeldoorn. The Dutch driver will start from pole in front of David Ehrbar, Jan Ratheisky, Bram Lagerwey and Robin van Gog.

My car was amazing in the conditions this afternoon as I struggled a little in Q1 yesterday evening and in Q2 this morning in the colder conditions. I will think about a small setup change as A1 will be tomorrow morning and I have to find something to make the car better. I hope that David and Jan will have a fight for second right behind me which maybe can help me leading away in the front!

ETS Q3 Report RD3 Season #14 2021/22

0

Round three of qualifying here in Apeldoorn is completed and we have our first overall TQ in the ToniSport 40+ Masters class.

Matrix Modified

Hagberg takes eventful Q3

Alexander Hagberg (Xray) won the third round of qualifying here in the Netherlands with a comfortable gap of 1.5 seconds ahead of Yannic Prümper (Yokomo) and Michele Manzo (Awesomatix). Eric Dankel (Mugen Seiki) scored some very important points finishing fourth for the round and Robert Pietsch (Mugen Seiki) crossed the line in the fifth spot.

During the run we saw Mugen Seiki`s Ronald Völker and Awesomatix Marc Rheinard being the early leaders in front of Hagberg, but after Rheinard went too wide at the end of the main straight he spun around and found his car stopping in the gras. This handed the lead over to Völker who was in a close fight with Hagberg in some hundreds of a second but Völker also made a small mistake which let him drop down the ranking list. Hagberg scored important points for himself and the Xray team in this third round!

Nicolai Lindegaard placed his Schumacher in fourth position and Awesomatix driver Louis Kretschmer crossed the line being fifth fastest.
The overall TQ is still wide open with a small advantage for Duchet (by points) and we will see the decision in the last round of qualifying of the Xray ProStock class.

TQ wide open as Schulz takes Q3

Stefan Schulz finally found his rhythm back and was able to snatch away the win in Q3 from Steven Olsen by 0.164 seconds. Manuel Stankowitz finished third this time in front of Mischa Kroos and Henrik Heitsch.
With having a different TQ in all of the three rounds so far, the overall TQ is still wide open and Q4 will show who will be the lucky guy lining up first for the triple A-Mains on Sunday here in Apeldoorn at ETS RD3.

For Unterschütz it was the best run of the weekend as he was really close to the leaders on the track. Roman Borschel and Thomas Bemmerl completed the top 5.
The decision for the overall TQ is now between Q1 and Q2 winner Dominik Reile and round 3 TQ David Kuschnarew and we will see the result after the last round of qualifying here in Apeldoorn!

ToniSport 40+ Masters

Sievers on Pole in Apeldoorn

Elibert Sievers took another impressive win in round 3 of qualifying in the ToniSport 40+ Masters class. He was able to win three out of three heats to secure himself a very hard fought pole position for Sundays triple A-Mains.

We talked to Elibert after his deciding TQ run:

I am more than happy with the runs I did here at my second ever ETS race. For sure it is an advantage that this is my home track but two years ago I was running in the B-Main and now I am the overall TQ which is amazing for me. For the finals I hope to stay calm as I expect a lot of pressure from the guys behind me but all I want to have is the maximum amount of fun in the end!

Behind Sievers, a much-improved Flavio Paladin finished second for the round in front of Thomas Oehler, Andy Kühne and Werner Schmitzer.

ETS Q2 Report RD3 Season #14 2021/22

0

The second round of qualifying here in Apeldoorn was delayed by two hours as the track and the whole area around the AMCA Apeldoorn was covered with intense fog and moisture in the morning. It took a while for the sun to break through the haze but once the moisture was gone it was time for Q2 for all the six racing classes here at ETS RD3 Season #14 2021/22. As yesterday evening`s first round of qualifying saw some very intense battles, all drivers pushed even harder this morning in the second round to score another good result!

Matrix Modified

Another win for Coelho

In the Matrix Modified class we saw Bruno Coelho (Xray) taking the win after he scored maximum points in Q1 on Friday evening as well. Bruno was leading the race during the entire time and Ronald Völker (Mugen Seiki) followed him with a gap between 0.4 and 0.7 seconds until the end of the run to score another second place.
Yokomo`s Yannic Prümper was right on Völker`s tail and crossed the line in third position another 0.5 seconds back. Marc Rheinard (Awesomatix) and Christopher Krapp (Yokomo) roundet up the top 5 in Q2 of the Matrix Modified class.
We head into round three with a lot of excitement as Coelho will have the chance to save the overall TQ for the finals. But with Völker, Prümper and Rheinard there are still hard contenders on track and they all will try to find that extra percent on their cars to steal the TQ away from Coelho in the last 2 rounds of qualifying.

Xray ProStock

Duchet from Kunkler and Mikkelsen in Q2

Alexandre Duchet was taking maximum advantage in Q2 as he was able to lay down a perfect run here in Apeldoorn. His fastest lap (15.786) was the fastest of the race as well and shows that Duchet is back in the game after not having perfect run on Friday evening.
Behind Duchet, the fight between the others was close again and Alex Kunkler was able to cross the line in second after a great run. Frederik Mikkelsen posted the third fastest time out of the second fastest group and Jan Ratheisky (4) and Max Mächler(5) completed the top 5 here in the second round of qualifying in the Xray ProStock class.

Hobbywing Frontwheel

Kroos takes Q2 from Stankowitz and Delisè

The second round of qualifying in the Hobbywing Frontwheel class saw Mischa Kroos taking the win at the end of the run in the fastest group. In the first minutes of the race, Steven Olsen and Stefan Schulz were leading the race and after Schulz had to retire his car in lap number 4 it looked like an easy win for Olsen. But when Steven had some trouble as well in lap 13 it was Mischa Kroos who took advantage of that, winning the heat in front of Manuel Stankowitz and Nicolas Delisè. Henrik Heitsch (4) and Jacques Libar (5) completed the top 5.
Mischa Kroos is on top of the Hobbywing Frontwheel class after two rounds of qualifying and we are looking forward to Q3 and Q4 when the fight for the TQ will still be alive between Kroos, Schulz and round 1 TQ Olsen.

Stock 17.5

Another TQ run from Reile

The second round of qualifying in the Orca 17.5 Stock class saw Dominik Reile laying down another strong TQ run. Daniel Pöhlmann and Thomas Bemmerl were chasing the leader during the whole run, but Reile took the win 2 seconds ahead of them. With Reile now having the best shot for the overall TQ after he won round one and two, the pressure now is on Pöhlmann and Bemmerl who are looking to be Reile`s strongest contenders.
Behind Reile, Pöhlmann and Bemmerl it was David Kuschnarew and Maximilian Unterschütz who completed the top 5 in Q2 here on Saturday morning. The next round will be an important one for Dominik Reile as he can secure the overall TQ with another good run.

ToniSport 40+ Masters
Sievers again in Q2

In the ToniSport 40+ Masters class it was once again Elibert Sievers on top of the board. He won the heat 0.8 seconds in front of Torsten Baggendorf in second and Manuel Stankowitz in third position. Toni Mateo and Andy Kühne completed the top five in the second round of qualifying!
With the top 5 being together very close in terms of their fastest laps it shows that they all have the potential to be on top when they get together a perfect run. Right now, it is Elibert Sievers with the best chances for the overall TQ as he just needs some good points in Q3 to seal the deal!

Scorpion Formula

Ehrbar fights back in Q2

After finishing second in the opening round on Friday evening, David Ehrbar took the win in round 2 of qualifying in front of Jitse Miedema and Q1 winner Jan Ratheisky. Robin van Gog had a fast run to take fourth for the round in front of Chris Grenz who crossed the line in fifth position.
With Ratheisky and Ehrbar each having a win on their score card they have the best chances for the overall TQ. But as Jitse Miedema is on the same level of pace with a second and third place out of the first two rounds he will try his very best to steal the TQ away from Ratheisky and Ehrbar in Q3 and Q4.

Coelho takes Q1 at ETS return

Xray`s Bruno Coelho took the first round of qualifying here in Apeldoorn on Friday evening under the floodlights at the AMCA racetrack. Coelho took the round by a gap of 0.6 seconds from Mugen Seiki`s Ronald Völker and Yokomo`s Yannic Prümper who finished third for the round some further four tenths behind Völker.

Our media team talked to round one TQ Bruno shortly after the race and he said:

It was the first round of qualifying for me at the ETS after a long time and it was a tough challenge. The track conditions had been complicated as it was relatively dark and the upcoming moisture produced some different traction on the asphalt. In the end it went good for me, and I could score a TQ run in the opening round here with our new X4 Touring Car platform which we are still about to learn. The pressure was high, and I am very happy with the result.

Bruno Coelho Xray/Hobbywing

Ronald Völker, who finished second for the round also had a quick chat with us after Q1 and told us:

I had a solid run and scored a good second place for the round. In the last few days here in Apeldoorn my pace was really good during the daytime in warmer conditions and the Xray guys have been strong during the morning and evening runs. As we expect Q2 tomorrow morning to be in similar conditions as Q1 was right now, we will make a setup change and try to improve our position. So far it is a very enjoyable competition here in Apeldoorn and I am looking forward for tomorrow!

Ronald Völker, Mugen Seiki/LRP

Yokomo`s Yannic Prümper posted the third fastest run and was in striking distance to the leaders during the whole five minutes – let’s see what he can do in the other rounds to keep the pressure on Völker and Coelho as high as possible. Marc Rheinard posted the fastest lap of the heat (14.100) but had to take P4 for the round 1.1 seconds behind TQ Coelho.
Antoine Brunet (Xray) completed the top 5 in front of Christopher Krapp (Yokomo), Alexander Hagberg (Xray), Michele Manzo (Awesomatix), Tim Benson (Mugen Seiki) and Robert Pietsch (Mugen Seiki) who rounded up the top 10 on Friday evening!

Simon Lauter Awesomatix/LRP
