Olivier Bultynck is rocking the well-known A800MMX from Awesomatix here in Luxembourg. The long term Awesomatix driver is the reigning european champion in the Stock class, and he aims for a strong result at ETS RD4 in Luxembourg. His car features a single piece topdeck, horizontal body posts, a carbon bumper plate, and a brass battery mount in the rear from Awesomatix. Olivier also mounted the actual flex bumper from MXLR in his A800MMX together with a brass receiver weight made by Lucas Urbain.

The first two rounds of qualifying here in Luxembourg are completed. As everybody expected, the racing was intense, close, and thrilling through all classes. Let`s find out who scored the best results on Friday afternoon on the very demanding and spectacular Mini Circuit “Ville de Luxembourg”.
Matrix Modified
Ballistic Urbain ahead of the field in Luxembourg
Q1 – The first Matrix Modified qualifier was a close one. Lucas Urbain (Awesomatix) started first into the heat after he was fastest in seeding practice. Lucas was leading the race all the time in front of Ronald Völker (Mugen Seiki) and Marc Rheinard. Lucas looked very comfortable out there while Völker and Rheinard had to push very hard to follow him as close as possible. Lucas Urbain drove a 17.063 lap time – the fastest we have ever seen here on track at a 1:10 scale electric race. He mentioned before the run, that also nobody had ever laid down an 18-lap run during a racing event. Now, the job is done as the top 4 (!) all made it into lap 18. In the end, Urbain took the win from Völker by 0.56 seconds with Rheinard in third position. Yannic Prümper took P4 for Yokomo while Remí Callens had a great run with his Mugen Seiki car to take P5 in the opening qualifier of the Matrix Modified class.
Q2 – Lucas Urbain continued where he stopped in Q1 – leading and winning the heat! Lucas was on fire with his A800MMX and took the win with another (even faster) 18 lap run. Marc Rheinard took second place while Ronald Völker stopped his Mugen Seiki car after flipping it on a curb in the fast chicane in front of the driver stand. Until this happened, the positions between Marc and Ronald changed a lot of times and they had a close fight for second with Yannic Prümper also being in the mix. The top 5 finishing order was Lucas Urbain (Awesomatix), Marc Rheinard (Awesomatix), Yannic Prümper (Yokomo), Jan Ratheisky (Xray), and Loic Jasmin (Yokomo). Robert Pietsch had some tough luck as he also was on a top 4 run before he had to stop his car with some electronical issues. With 2 out of 2 it was a perfect day for Urbain and our media team talked to him on Friday evening:
What a day! I was fastest in free practice, controlled practice, and I won the first two rounds of qualifying. I didn`t even expect that but for sure I am very confident and happy now. My car was not perfect in Q1 and I had to drive very cautious, but in Q2 I was very confident when I noticed that I already had a small gap after the first three laps. I tried to manage the gap to the end and it worked out even as Marc had a great pace too.
Lucas Urbain (FR) Awesomatix, Orca
Asked about his day, Marc Rheinard (second on Friday evening) told us right after Q2:
I lost a bit of time in the opening laps of Q1 and had to take third for the round. The second round was a lot better and I was able to drive the fastest lap of the race as well. Lucas is very fast here, but tomorrow I will try everything to get myself into the position to fight for the win in the Finals. My Awesomatix worked fine and I am also happy with the feeling of the Orca power in my car.
Marc Rheinard (DE) Awesomatix/Orca
Third overall on Friday, Ronald Völker had the following statement for us:
I had a solid first qualifier and scored good points with P2. The second run didnt went to my plans. I had to push hard to try to catch Lucas (Urbain), but it was a little too much and I flipped in the fast chicane in the infield section. My LRP powered Mugen car was a little “too good” in the first lap and started to understeer afterwards. I will discuss that with the team and we will make some small adjustments for tomorrows remaining qualifiers.
TQ runs from Lauter and Bultynck on Friday afternoon
Q1 – The first round of Awesomatix Pro Stock qualifying went to favour of Simon Lauter and his Awesomatix A800MMX. But it was not an easy win for Simon as Louis Kretschmer and top seed Olivier Bultynck had been on a very similar pace during the entire run. In the beginning, Louis Kretschmer was leading the race (fastest lap of the heat 19.341) and it took a while until Simon`s name was popping off on top of the board. When the drivers finished the race, the top three had been separated by 0.149 of a second only. It was high class Pro Stock racing here in Luxembourg – exactly what everybody expected. Frederik Mikkelsen and Max Mächler completed the top 5 before the first non Awesomatix racer Lars Hoppe finished in 6th place.
Q2 – Olivier Bultynck (Awesomatix) was able to strike back in the second round of Awesomatix Pro Stock qualifying. He was fighting hard for this win on track against his teammates Simon Lauter and Louis Kretschmer, but in the end, he was able to bring home a very important TQ run. With Lauter`s time from Q1 being slightly faster, he is sitting in first position overnight in front of Bultynck, Kretschmer, Mikkelsen, and Libar. The decision for the Tq and all A-Main spots will come down to Q3 ad Q4 on Saturday morning!
Strong Friday from Schulz as he got two TQ runs to his favour
Q1 – Stefan Schulz took Q1 of the Hobbywing Frontwheel class on Friday afternoon. He had a perfect run with his Xray car and had an advantage of 1.7 seconds as he crossed the scoring and timing loop after 5 minutes. Behind Schulz, it was a three-horse race between Jacques Libar, Roman Borschel and Sören Sparbier as they took second, third, and fourth place. Steven Olsen posted the fifth fastest time but was some seconds behind the leading drivers. Stefan Schulz also posted the fastest lap of the heat (24.225) and was very happy with his first qualifier.
Q2 – It was again Stefan Schulz who was the fastest driver on track. Jacques Libar took another second place, but he was not able to fight for the win as the gap to Schulz was far too big with 3.5 seconds. Behind Schulz and Libar, a much-improved Steven Olsen (Awesomatix A800FX Evo) had a solid run to third place overall. Sören Sparbier and Torsten Baggendorf finished in the top 5 of the second qualifier as well. Stefan Schulz is now only one heat win away from sealing the overall pole position here at the Mini Circuit “Ville de Luxembourg” and that will be his target for tomorrow morning`s Q3 of the Hobbywing Frontwheel class.
Reile TQ`s first round of Orca 17.5 Stock qualifying as Q2 got shifted to Saturday morning
Q1 – In the first round of qualifying, Dominik Reile was able to take full advantage of a clear track in front of him. Reile was able to open a gap of 2.5 seconds over the rest of the field and was in a world of his own in Q1. Joshua Winkler and Jasmin Donath had the same overall runtime (which is extremely rare) which meant them both getting the points for second position in Q1. Kevin Schmid and Niclas Storm rounded out the top 5 in a very close first qualifier.
Q2 – Round 2 of qualifying in the Orca 17.5T Stock class will take place on Saturday morning!
Stankowitz and Mateo both scoring a TQ run on Friday in Luxembourg
Q1 – We saw a very close opening round of 40+ Masters qualifying between top seed Toni Mateo and Manuel Stankowitz. In the end, Manuel Stankowitz was able to TQ the first heat with a gap of .03 seconds from Toni Mateo. Mirco Thalheimer was also in the mix for the win in this round, posted the fastest lap of the heat, and crosser the line in third place. Michel Zierlod and Joe Streff took 4th and 5th for the round.
Q2 – After Toni Mateo had to deal with a second place in Q1 behind Manuel Stankowitz, he was able to improve by one position in Q2 to take the win for the round. Ulrich Dinger and Thomas Wegmann had a great run as well as they took second and third place ahead of Mirco Thalheimer in fourth place. Ronald Arts and Joe Streff finished fifth and sixth for the round with their times coming from the second fastest qualifying group.
Ratheisky overnight TQ at ETS Luxembourg after a perfect Friday
Q1 – Jan Ratheisky (Xray) took a very close opening round of Formula qualifying ahead of Andreas Stiebler (Schumacher) and Luka Jovicic (Libar Engineering). The trio was battling it out during the entire 5 minutes and Ratheisky was the lucky guy winning the heat 0.25 seconds ahead of Stiebler with Jovicic another second back. Michal Wojcik and Robert Kampehl took a fourth and fifth place in the first qualifier.
Q2 – The second round of qualifying was a copy of the first one – with the overall runtimes being some seconds faster compared to Q1. Jan Ratheisky took the win in front of Luka Jovicic and Andreas Stiebler and is our overnight TQ at ETS Rd4. But as a famous racer once said: “TQ overnight – no delight”. Jan needs one more perfect run to seal the pole position with his Xray car and he will aim for that tomorrow morning in Q3 of the Scorpion Formula class. Michal Wojcik and Gergö Valent completed the top 5 here on Friday evening in Luxembourg.
After a great Friday, we are more than excited for the upcoming Q3 and Q4 on Saturday. Who will be on pole position for the finals? Don`t miss anything and follow ourLIVEsection and our coverage here on our website!
The qualifying heats are set here in Luxembourg after two rounds of controlled practice. Qualifying is up next, and it will be time to find out what everybody can do over 5 minutes on track. Today we will see two complete rounds of qualifying for everybody, before the third round will take place on Saturday morning. The Orca 17.5 Stock class will run only one qualifier today, and three rounds on Saturday. The reason for that are some drivers of this class arriving here on Friday evening and the ETS family likes to offer them the best chances in qualifying as well.

Serpent driver Sparbier on top after controlled practice in Luxembourg
In the Hobbywing Frontwheel class we saw Sören Sparbier on top. He had a great fight at the last ETS race in Andernach (GER) with race winner Freddy Südhoff, and he is on a real good pace here again. Sören was laying down the fastest three consecutive laps in the second round of seeding practice and he will lead the strong field of FWD drivers into qualifying. Behind Sparbier we saw Roman Borschel, local racer Lacques Libar, reigning champion Stefan Schulz, and Torsten Baggendorf in the top 5. With the start of qualifying the tension will step up to a different level and it seems that the top 4 drivers are in a great form to fight for pole position.

The Orca 17.5 Stock class saw Dominik Reile topping the time sheets on Friday in Luxembourg. He looked slightly faster on the three-lap pace and had an advantage of 0.4 seconds above the rest of the field with his Awesomatix A800MMX. Right behind Reile, Joshua Winkler, Jasmin Donath, and Daniel Pöhlmann finished in the top four and had been only separated by 0.014 of a second. Roman Borschel rounded out the top 5 and now it is time for all drivers to play their cards as one round of qualifying is up next for the Orca 17.5 Stock class.

Mateo to start first into qualifying with Thalheimer and Stankowitz in tow
In the ToniSport 40+ Masters class, it was Toni Mateo who had the best pace in the two rounds of seeding practice on Friday. He came out fastest and was a tenth of a second in front of his hardest rivals Thalheimer and Stankowitz who are also fighting with him for the overall championship this season. Michel Zierold and Thomas Wegmann completed the top 5 and we can expect two very close rounds of qualifying coming up today.

Ratheisky found some pace and is top seed in Formula
After Luka Jovicic was fastest on Thursday, we saw Jan Ratheisky back on pace here in the controlled practice at ETS RD4 in Luxembourg. But it was a very close affair between Jan Ratheisky, Andreas Stiebler, and Luka Jovicic as their fastest three consecutive laps had been in 0.051 of a second. Gergö Valent and Michal Wojcik made it into the top 5 and the Formula drivers will lay down a great show in the Scorpion Formula class. Who will gran the TQ? We will find out very soon here in Luxembourg.

Enjoy some laps on the awesomae track of the LMCC Luxembourg. The Tamiya TT-02 of the Media Team received some fresh Matrix tires and Patrick Beck went “flat out” on track with that little rocket 🙂 The Mini Circuit “Ville de Luxembourg” is a blast, and every lap around brings pure enjoyment and love for RC racing. Sit back end enjoy the camera car on track!
Newly crowned IFMAR world champion Andreas Stiebler is here in Luxembourg with his Schumacher Icon2 Formula car. Just one week after the race in Gubbio (Italy), he received many congratulations from the ETS racers for his great achievement. We took the chance to taks some great shots from the car he used to win the title. Andreas is using his Schumacher Icon2 as it somes out of the box and we can expect him to be in contention for a podium finish here at ETS Rd4 in Luxembourg.
Jan Ratheisky is running the newest Formula car from Xray here at ETS RD4 – the so called X1-23. Jan is well-known to be the “master” of the formula class as he has won many ETS races and championships in the past. He is running his Xray car is as it comes out of the box and we expect him to be a contender for one of the top spots in Luxembourg!
Seven rounds of free practice for everybody are in the books here at ETS RD4 in Luxembourg. It was a cold and chilly morning with temperatures at around 5 degrees when the first drivers arrived at the Mini Circuit “Ville de Luxembourg”. But as soon as the pits had been set up, the sun came out and all drivers experienced a nice day of free practice on one of the best tracks around the world. The unique Laguna Seca section on the right side of the track combined with the long and banked sweeper at the end of the main straight made a lot of drivers smile bright during their first runs on the track. Everything is set to go for a perfect weekend of racing and now we also let you know about today`s free practice results!
Matrix Modified
Urbain tops free practice on Thursday ahead of Rheinard and Völker
The Matrix Modified class was in the hands of Lucas Urbain at the first day here at the Mini Circuit “Ville de Luxembourg”. The Awesomatix A800MMX driver was fastest in all rounds of practice and showed that he is a real master of the track. His Awesomatix teammate Marc Rheinard was second fastest with Mugen Seiki`s Ronald Völker finishing third overall for the day. Yannic Prümper (Yokomo) and Jan Ratheisky (Xray) rounded out the top 5 of the Matrix Modified class.
We asked Lucas Urbain about his impressive day:
My day was very good, and I tested some different setups and body shells. I was testing the Twister and the Wolverine to decide what I will use in the race. Finally, the Twister gave me the best overall feeling and I could push the most with it. Of course, I know this track very well, and my level of confidence is very high here. But also my whole package seems to be very strong and I will go all-in tomorrow as my goal is to fight for TQ and win here in Luxembourg!

In the Awesomatix Pro Stock class it was reigning European champion Olivier Bultynck who came out of day 1 as the fastest driver. Bultynck drove the fastest three consecutive laps with his Awesomatix A800MMX and was leading an all Awesomatix top 4 here at day 1 of ETS RD4. Newly crowned vice world champion Simon Lauter finished second for the day with Max Mächler and Frederik Mikkelsen right in tow. Xray`s Jan Ratheisky completed the top 5.
Olivier Bultynck had a quick chat with our race reporter on Thursday evening:
My day was very good. I was on a good pace just from the beginning and we worked together with the team very closely. I made some small tweaks to the car here and there and tried to focus on my driving. My three-lap pace was strong, but I need to work on my 5-minute consistency. That is my main focus for tomorrow, but I think I am already in a very good position for the race!
Olivier Bultynck (BE) Awesomatix/LRP
The Top 5 after Thursday practice (over 3 consecutive laps)
1. Olivier Bultynck (BE) 57.728 (Awesomatix/LRP) 2. Simon Lauter (DE) 58.039 (Awesomatix/LRP) 3. Max Mächler (DE) 58.061 (Awesomatix/Sunpadow) 4. Frederik Mikkelsen (DK) 58.452 (Awesomatix/LRP) 5. Jan Ratheisky (DE) 58.811 (Xray/Nosram)
Libar with strong pace on his home soil Luxembourg
The Hobbywing Frontwheel drive class saw local hero Jacques Libar driving very fast on track. He outpaced Sören Sparbier and Roman Borschel on the first day of the event, and it seems that his enormous knowledge of the track helps him a lot to go fast. But however, Sören Sparbier and the others will try to hunt him down in the next days to fight with him for the win in Luxembourg!
The Top 5 after Thursday practice (over 3 consecutive laps)
1. Jacques Libar (LU) 1:13.930 (Xray/Team Zombie) 2. Sören Sparbier (DE) 1:14.228 (Serpent) 3. Roman Borschel (DE) 1:14.768 4. Steven Olsen (DK) 1:14.890 (Awesomatix) 5. Stefan Schulz (DE) 1:14.137 (Xray)
Awesomatix driver Reile fastest at opening day in Luxembourg
Dominik Reile showed a strong performance here at the first day of ETS RD4 in Luxembourg. After his “not perfect weekend” at the last round in Andernach, he seems to be back in contention again this weekend. Right behind Reile, young Joshua Winkler (Awesomatix A800MMX) posted the second fastest times ahead a very convincing Tamiya driver Dominik Ruf in third position.
We talked with Dominik Reile on Thursday evening:
It is the first time for me in Luxembourg and the track is absolutely amazing. It is so much fun to drive, and very challenging at the same time. It took me some time to nail the right section of the track which they call the Laguna Seca, but now I feel good out there and just enjoy myself. I made only small changes to the car as my focus was more on finding the perfect lines. But as things will get more serious tomorrow I am looking forward to Qualifying and see how it goes!

Andernach race winner Stankowitz confirms great form
The ToniSport 40+ Masters class saw Manuel Stankowitz on top of the board. His fastest three consecutive laps had been two tenths quicker than Toni Mateo`s second fastest times while Mirco Thalheimer posted the third fastest time. Torsten Baggendorf and local hero Joe Streff rounded out the top 5 at day one of ETS RD4 in the ToniSport 40+ Masters class.
Manuel Stankowitz had the following to say after day 1 in Luxembourg:
I have never been here in the past and it is hard to understand why 😊 This track is unbelievable. I used today`s seven practice rounds to get a feeling for the track and all the elevation changes. I still struggle a bit with the perfect entry into the downslope before the Laguna Seca, but it was getting better and better each time. I tried two different body shells (Wolverine and P63) and think that I will go with the Protoform tomorrow.
Manuel Stankowitz (DE) Awesomatix
The Top 5 after Thursday practice (over 3 consecutive laps)
Another fast local driver in Luxembourg was Luka Jovicic today. He drove a prototype car from Libar Engineering and was ahead of the competition by half a second. Michal Wojcik was second fastest and Jan Ratheisky third. The formula cars are looking very cool on track, especially in the uphill, and downhill sections on the right side of the track.
Asked about his start into the weekend, Luka Jovicic said:
I know this track very well and did thousands of laps so I may have an advantage here. But also, the car which I am driving feels very good and I am happy with my pace. But I expect the others, especially Jan Ratheisky, to get closer tomorrow. I hope for a good and thrilling race here on my hometrack.

It will be a very important day for the drivers as we will have another round of free practice followed by two rounds of timed seeding practice. Last on Friday afternoon will be the first rounds of qualifying, a gritty moment when everyone must put their cards on the table for the first time.
Now, we are looking forward to Friday here at ETS RD4 in Luxembourg. Stay tuned and follow us during the whole weekend. Check out the LIVE section on our website. There you will find our livestreaming options for ETS RD4 Season #15 2022/23!
The fourth race of the current ETS season is leading us to Luxembourg and the unbelievable track of the LMCC club. Some ETS racers know the track from the past when the Euro Touring Series races there three times between 2013 and 2015. All drivers who will face the challenge of the track for the first time can look forward to race on one of the best tracks in Europe!

A unique track with amazing signature sections
Run by the Luxembourg Model Car Club, which started out on a nearby ‘Park & Ride’ car park, the track was built in 1999 after the club reached a long-term agreement to rent a plot of land from the City of Luxembourg. Funding the building of the track themselves, the club hosted its first race in May 2000. Since then the LMCC has hosted European Championships for 1:5 (2003), 1:10 Electric Touring (2009) and twice for 1:8 Onroad (2004 & 10). When we are looking at pictures of the track it is easy to see that we are talking about a pure racetrack in a natural environment. But some of the most fascinating things are hard to notice on pictures only. With a 310-meter-long lap, the track is most famed for its Laguna Seca corkscrew style corner which was added in 2007 when part of the infield was also modified. The drop of the corkscrew is in the region of 2 metres and is only truly appreciated when one physically walks back up it. At the end of the straight the track features a 10 degree banked corner which is super fun to drive through.
Track walk video “presented by RC Maker”
Luckily, the well-known ETS racer Lucas Urbain (Awesomatix) was kind enough to do a track walk with us. The LMCC is kind of his “Outdoor Home Track”, and Lucas knows every secret about going fast there. Enjoy the video with Lucas and Patrick!
Let`s go racing
Everything is set to go in Luxembourg and we are looking forward to Thursday when the free practice will kick off. Enjoy the weekend of racing at the Euro Touring Series and have a great time with your friends, teammates, and our ETS family!
Just a couple of days before ETS RD4 in Luxembourg, it is now possible for all racers to edit their technical data for the race. Many drivers asked us to open the system some days before the event, and that`s what we have done. We are always trying to make life as comfortable as possible for our ETS racers 😊.
Important for you, for us, the sponsors, and the public
Showing the Equipment Charts in our race reports is something which a lot of people have asked about. There are a lot of spectators watching our events from a distance and they like to know what the drivers are using at the ETS, which is still the most famous 1:10 scale onroad racing series in the world!
But we are not only collecting the data of the A-Main drivers – we are collecting the data of ALL drivers at the ETS to create statistics and overviews of the whole season. So, no matter in which class or final you are mostly ending – PLEASE EDIT YOUR EQUIPMENT 😊
It only takes two minutes of your time to let us know about the equipment you are using at ETS RD4 in Luxembourg. As you know, we post these Equipment Charts after Qualifying and after the A-Mains on Sunday. You can change your equipment at any time during the weekend so if you change something it is no problem to edit!
We are counting on you, and we will see us trackside in Luxembourg
We are heading to the last outdoor race of the fifteenth ETS season, and our way will lead us to Luxembourg. The last time the ETS stopped at this amazing racetrack was in 2016 which means that a lot of our current ETS racers have never been there. The track is very beautiful, features a lot of challenges (wait for the track check on Wednesday), and we are sure that everybody would like to drive on it. Now, sit back, relax, and learn about our “5 things to watch” during ETS RD4 in Luxembourg.

1) World Championship podium finishers
The dust has settled after the 2022 IFMAR touring car worlds, and we like to congratulate all champions and podium finishers for their results once again. In Luxembourg, we will see Stock vice world champion Simon Lauter (Awesomatix), and Formula World Cup winner Andreas Stiebler (Schumacher) racing with us. For sure, both will receive many congratulations and handshakes from the ETS family during free practice on Thursday!
Simon Lauter on the podium in Gubbio
2) Laguna Seca Corkscrew Corner
The corkscrew corner in Laguna Seca (USA) is one of THE most famous corners in racing all around the world. It goes dramatically uphill, turns to the left, before it ends in a downhill right turn! Always spectacular to watch, especially from onboard cameras.
In Luxembourg, all RC racers can experience the same, even if they are not sitting directly in the car. The track in Luxembourg features a similar section to Laguna Seca. After the cars have passed the drivers stand, they need to have a perfect entry into a hollow before then driving up a small hill with a left turn. On top of it, the left turn gets tight before a hard break to the right side lets the cars almost “falling down” a right turn to the entry of the main straight. It is always looking very spectacular and makes the LMCC Luxembourg racetrack to one of the most unique places for RC racing in Europe. Watch our event coverage and enjoy one of the coolest corners in RC!

3) Local Heroes
As we mentioned before, the last ETS race in Luxembourg is dated back to 2016. We think that a lot of drivers have never driven on this track, and it will be exciting to see how long it will take them to find a perfect rhythm for the challenging track. The asphalt is relatively new (resurfaced some years ago), and drivers can use the curbs to go fast – but to a certain level only! We expect a few drivers having great chances to score top results as they are in the LMCC club or at least don`t live far away from the track. Let`s find out if Lucas Urbain, Jacques Libar, Joe Streff, Luka Jovicic, Dirk Rischard, and all other drivers from Luxembourg will have any practice advantage on their home track or not. We will find it out during the weekend at ETS RD4 in Luxembourg!

4) Wetter Radar
As the weather is always a huge factor in September, the weather radar will be one to watch. Sadly, the drivers at the IFMAR worlds in Italy had to face some serious rain and thunderstorms and the whole event was affected in a bad way from the weather. The forecast for our ETS race in Luxembourg is looking pretty solid so far, with temperatures between 7 and 18 degrees and a mix between sunshine and clouds. No rain on the radar so far – fingers crossed!
5) Parking Area
Another very important topic is the parking situation. There is only limited space behind the pit area (marked yellow), and therefore it is super important to park all cars as close and clever as possible. We will be there on Thursday morning to coordinate the parking process and we ask you to PLEASE park in straight lines without wasting too much space. The huge park & ride area can get used on Saturday and Sunday as well, but we will give you an update about that in the drivers meeting on Friday!
