Urbain tops free practice in Luxembourg

0

The ETS is racing at the Mini Circuit “Ville de Luxembourg” this weekend. The fantastic racetrack got a new surface in 2023 and is looking perfectly with the track curbs painted in the national colours of Luxembourg. Luckily, the weather was dry, and the racers had the chance to use the full Thursday to set up their cars for Friday where we have a serious chance of rain in the morning.

Orlowski, Rheinard, and Völker chasing down Luxembourg specialist Urbain

The FlySky Modified class saw top favourite Lucas Urbain on a mission. The Awesomatix driver was topping all rounds of free practice and found himself ahead of Michal Orlowski, Marc Rheinard, Ronald Völker, and Michele Manzo at the end of the day. However, Urbain`s gap to the contenders was melting down during the five rounds of practice when Orlowski and Rheinard closed it to “only” three tenths of a second over three consecutive laps. We are very excited to what will happen on Friday when we will head into qualifying on this amazing track of the LMCC Luxembourg – game on!

The Top 5 after Thursday practice (over 3 consecutive laps)

1. Lucas Urbain (FR) 50.532 Awesomatix|ORCA
2. Michal Orlowski (PL) 50.803 Schumacher|Hobbywing

Awesomatix on top with Kretschmer ahead of Mugen Seiki`s Sparbier

In Awesomatix ProStock, Louis Kretschmer was showing a great form on the opening day of practice. The German Awesomatix driver was a tenth quicker than second placed Sören Sparbier who was looking very good on track with his Mugen Seiki ride. Behind them, the two Awesomatix cars of our current vice-champion Lukas Ellerbrock and Pro Stock champion Ollie Bultynck took P3 and 4 and had been followed by Jacques Libar who made it into the top 5 with his Xray.

The Pro Stock drivers are vey close to each other and Friday will fire things up when seeding practice and qualifying is on the schedule!

1up Racing 40+ Masters

Xray`s Ehrbar ahead of Awesomatix duo Mateo and Zierold

David Ehrbar was the fastest driver in the 1up Racing 40+ Masters class at the “Mini Circuit Ville de Luxembourg”. Ehrbar outpaced second placed Toni Mateo (Luxembourg race winner 2022) by a huge margin of one second over three laps. A very big gap in the hard-fought masters class where the rest of the top five had been in 0.8 of a second behind Ehrbar. Can David Ehrbar keep up this blistering pace, or will the pack close it in qualifying.

The Top 5 after Thursday practice (over 3 consecutive laps)

1. David Ehrbar (DE) 1:05:074 Xray

A very positive day for David Ehrbar (Xray) as he also topped free practice of the Matrix Formula class (beside being fastest in 40+ Masters). The Schumacher duo of Thomas Stenger and Andreas Stiebler will need to find something magic overnight as Ehrbar was already 1.4 seconds faster on three laps. Local hero and podium contender Luka Jovicic was fourth quickest and Michal Wojcik rounded out the top 5 on day one of ETS RD3 in Luxembourg.

ETS Sponsor Spotlight – RC MAKER SP1 & SP1-F

0

RC Maker – main sponsor of our ETS live stream – has sent us two display cars of their brand new and very first touring and FWD cars called SP1 and SP1-F. The cars were built by Ryan Maker, the owner of the RC Maker brand, who is also the designer of the cars. The cars will be on display at the ETS in Luxembourg from Friday to Sunday and everybody is invited to take a first look onto these beauties.

Low centre of gravity and reduced moment of inertia – two key aspects of the new SP1

Both RC Maker cars are coming along with a very unique design as they are featuring normal shocks which are completeley laid down in the car using a push-rod system. The centre of gravity is super low which was one of the key approaches of Ryan Maker when drawing the initial designs in his Australia based company. All components and parts are designed to make the car feeiling as “flat and planted” to the track as possible. The very centered suspension components are reducing the moment of inertia which is another positive aspect of the SP1.

It was my dream to design and develop my own car under the RC MAKER brand since many years. We have put a lot of work and dedication into the SP1 project, and now we are only a couple of weeks away from shipping the car kits to all our dealers around the world. It is a great feeling and we are waiting for customers feedback with a lot of excitement. We will try to help everybody out there to get the cars up to speed quickly.

Ryan Maker (AUS), RC MAKER

Car kits expected to reach hobby shops by the end of September

The display cars which we have here at the ETS this weekend are exactly how customers will receive their car kits by the end of September. The carbon parts – all made in house at RC Maker – are having this special touches here and there which is kind of a signature look of the RC Maker brand since many years. The car kits include many extras such as chassis stiffener weights and carbon bumper mounts and battery hooks to finish off a perfect look!

THE CARS WILL BE ON DISPLAY AT ETS RD3 IN LUXEMBOURG FROM FRIDAY TO SUNDAY AT THE TENT OF THE ETS MEDIA TEAM

Can Orlowski bounce back in Luxembourg after disappointing EFRA Euros result?

0

ETS Preview Report, RD3 Season #17 2024/25 Luxembourg, LUX

The ETS is entering the third round of the 2024/25 championship season in Luxembourg. With almost 280 entries, the number of entries is very high and guarantees top-class RC racing on one of the best tracks in the world. Last weekend was all about the EFRA euros in Roeselare (Belgium) where many of our frequent ETS racers had been in the fight for the EFRA titles. The event was a tricky one due to rain and ever-changing track conditions. Let`s see who is in good shape for ETS RD3.

Rheinard surfs the wave of success, Urbain is top favourite after mega practice performances, what can champion Orlowski do at the “Mini Circuit Ville de Luxembourg”

At the EFRA Euros in Roeselare, Michal Orlowski’s incredible run of 385 unbeaten days in touring car racing came to an unexpected end. The Schumacher star had a solid qualifying session and was on pole position for the finals. He was followed by his good friend and hard on- track rival Marc Rheinard (Awesomatix), and Xray`s Bruno Coelho who had won the last three EFRA euros in a row. After three very interesting and eventful A-Mains, Michal found himself off the podium in 4th place only – not the result he was aiming for.

The conditions had been very difficult on final Sunday, and we also saw some driving errors which we have not seen from Orlowski in a very long time. Schumacher car designer Andy Murray will race in the Modified class with the Mi9 as well at ETS RD3 to collect data while Mattia Collina had to skip the race. Can Schumacher`s star driver Orlowski shake off this heavy defeat and win again in Luxembourg?

Awesomatix lead driver Marc Rheinard is the newly crowned EFRA European Champion in Modified touring car racing. Rheinard was putting together some great A-Main runs and was able to get by Orlowski, holding off a hard pushing Bruno Coelho in A3 with a masterclass of driving. It was almost surreal to realise that the last EFRA TC title was won by Rheinard in 2011!

The victory in Roeselare was an important one for Rheinard as it was the first Modified EFRA title for Awesomatix, and the first one for Marc`s new electronic sponsor Cayote. This title should give him a real boost of motivation and we are excited to see Marc hitting the track with his A800R in Luxembourg.

Rheinard will have most of his teammates around him with Lucas Urbain, Simon Lauter, Eric Dankel, Atsushi Hara, Kemp Anderson, and Michele Manzo having all signed up for the race. One of the top favourites for the race win in Luxembourg is for sure Lucas Urbain. The French driver won his first ETS race at this venue 2 years ago and is calling Luxembourg “kind of his home track” even if he is living 40km away in Rettel (France). During the testing sessions where many top drivers had been in Luxembourg before the Euros, Urbain was the fastest and he will set the early benchmark in practice for sure.

Simon Lauter, who is the actually overall third placed river in Modified, is another driver to watch as he travels to Luxembourg with the success of winning the 13.5 Spec Euros last weekend after achieving a third-place podium finish in Modified at ETS RD2 in Austria – he is on a career high now. Lauter has finally arrived in the top league of Modified drivers at the Euro Touring Series after he had won three Pro Stock titles in the past four seasons. Great to see a world class stock driver stepping up to Modified in this way!

Mugen Seiki`s ETS record champion Ronald Völker is still in a “never ending” summer, searching for the top result he is normally used to achieve. Ronald finished 5th at the season opener in Apeldoorn, 11th at RD2 in Aigen, and 7th at last weekends EFRA Euros. Ronald and the Mugen team were facing some problems with the balance of the car and had some bad luck with electronic issues (in Apeldoorn) which has somewhat distorted the true performance of Völker`s Mugen and LRP package.

As we all know the work ethic of Völker, we can be sure that he will do everything to return to winning ways. Will we see his return to the podium in Luxembourg? His teammate and friend Remi Callens will be the second “hot iron” for Mugen Seiki in the fight for a position in the A-Main.

The Yokomo team will have to do without Christopher Krapp in Luxembourg. Krappi was the best Yokomo driver at the European Championship with 5th place, closely followed by his team-mate Antoine Brunet (6th) and Yannic Prümper in 9th place. Three Yokomo cars in the A final was a very good result for the team – Yokomo has not yet been able to score a top 5 result since the start of the new ETS season. Antoine and Yannic will do all they can to dial in their MS1.0 car for the challenging track in Luxembourg.

Dominic Greiner, who finished on a fantastic fourth place in Aigen, will be a one man show again at the “Mini Circuit Ville de Luxembourg”. But the Serpent driver does to extract some extra motivation with not having a big team around him and made the A-Main at both of this season`s asphalt races. He is ranked 5th overall in the FlySky Modified class – a result that deserves great respect.

After the two Xray stars Bruno Coelho and Alexander Hagberg joined the ETS at the last race in Austria, they will sadly miss out our event in Luxembourg. Hagberg is on a long-planned family vacation while Bruno will race in a different category for Xray at the same weekend. Xray will trust their drivers Oliver Havranek, Harley Eldridge, and Benjamin Elbisser to score some good results. They are all super-fast and have shown in the past that they can make the A-Main when everything comes together perfectly.

Ellerbrock and Blutynck leading overall standings on equal points – can anyone catch up with them?

The Awesomatix Pro Stock class will have a great turnout in Luxembourg with 75 drivers on the list of entries. With many very fast drivers having signed up for the event, the battle for the A-Main spots will be close and intense as always.

The two championship leaders Ollie Bultynck and Lukas Ellerbrock from Team Awesomatix will try to open an even bigger gap to their competitors (points wise) to battle it out for the title when the ETS will enter the two remaining races of the season on carpet. However, as both drivers only scored “shmedium” results at the EFRA euros, they will also use the event in Luxembourg to recover a bit from that. Ellerbrock and Bultynck will have their team around them with strong drivers likefor example Louis Kretschmer, and Jesper Rasmussen.

Mugen Seiki`s Sören Sparbier is actually “best of the rest” sitting third overall in the championship. He missed out the podium in Aigen by a small margin and will be a driver to watch for in Luxembourg for sure. Sören has a lot of natural speed and is the top Pro Stock driver of the Mugen Seiki team right now. Can he improve his fourth place from Aigen in Luxembourg?

Xray has a strong line-up of drivers with Martin Hudy, Nico Catelani, Nicolas Delise, Benjamin Elbisser, local hero Jacques Libar, and MANY more and it would be a big surprise to not see some of them in the big show on Sunday. Adam Izsay, who was Xray`s best Pro Stock driver in the last season, will not make the trip to Luxembourg. Can anybody else fight for the ProStock win for the Slovakian manufacturer?

When we look on the Schumacher drivers, we also notice a lot of quality with former ETS and TITC Stock race winner Dominic Vogl, current European Vice champion Ollie Payne, third place finisher Niels Degryze from Belgium, and Andreas Stiebler who was very quick during ETS RD2 in Aigen. Schumacher is the team with the biggest upwards trend in Pro Stock racing since 2024 and we are sure that we will see one of their drivers on the podium soon!

However, we can not analyse all the racers in this highly competitive class before the race and as there are even more fast names (Tim Benson, Helge Johannessen, Henrik Heitsch, the Valent brothers……) we just have to wait to find out who will be on fire on the “Mini Circuit Ville de Luxembourg” next weekend. The Awesomatix Pro Stock class is looking to get really dicey…

Hovgaard with first ever FWD championship lead for Yokomo

Danish Yokomo racer Frederik Hovgaard will arrive as the championship leader in Luxembourg. Hovgaard started into the season with a fifth place in Apeldoorn and was able to win the second race of the campaign in Aigen which was his first ETS race win ever. Hovgaard backed up his great form and won the EFRA Euros from fourth on the grid after many things happened with to the cars in front of him.

Xray`s newest FWD signing Max Weffers is ranked second overall followed by his teammate Jacques Libar, Awesomatix driver Phil Langner, and Iris racer Mauel Stankowitz (who will not attend the race in Luxembourg). Beside the top 4 drivers, others like ETS RD1 winner Nicolas Delisé (Xray), RD2 top qualifier Dominik Reile (Iris), Roman Borschel (Awesomatix), Caspar Morgen (Xray), Benjamin Elbisser (Xray), Torsten Baggendorf (ARC), Henrik Heitsch (ARC), Gergö and Mark Valent (Xray and Schumacher) will all try to win the third race of ETS Season #17 in Luxembourg.

Ehrbar on top after two races in hard fought 40+ Masters class

Xray driver David Ehrbar leads the overall standings ahead of US racer Eric Anderson (Awesomatix) and Dutchman Elibert Sievers (Awesomatix). Ehrbar won the last race in Aigen after finishing third behind Anderson and Sievers at the season opener in Apeldoorn. On the other hand, Eric Anderson had a perfect and very dominant race in Apeldoorn and ‘only’ had to settle for seventh place at the RD2 in Austria. Anderson is 4 points behind Ehrbar, which he can still turn around during the rest of the season.

René Kölbel (Xray), Werner Schmitzer (Xray), and our reigning ETS champion of the class Michel Zierold (Awesomatix) are still in the mix hoping for a great result on the nice and difficult track in Luxembourg. Toni Mateo was the 2022 race winner in Luxembourg and is one of many other fast guys for the weekend together with Mirco Thalheimer, Caspar Morgen, Torsten Baggendorf, and Dai Sakaguchi who is making his 40+ Masters class debut with his Tamiya ride. Let`s see who will “master” the weekend in the best possible way to take the victory at ETS RD3.

Championship leader Siebert to face hard competition in Luxembourg

In the Orca 21.5 Stock class we have seen superb racing during the last race in Aigen. Jaroslav Jun. Kriz took his first ETS race win with his Xray car and will be one of the top contenders for another great result in Luxembourg. Mugen Seiki`s championship leader Timo Siebert will have a lot of work to do if he likes to defend his position at the sunny side of life. His lead is at 4 points over Nadine Zühlke.

Xray driver Kristian Jensen is third overall now and will be on the line in Luxembourg as well as Jan Gehrig (Xray), Kai Gerhardt (Mugen Seiki), Elena Fuchs (Xray), Jan Vogler, Michael Koos, and the rest a the strong field of 21.5 Stock drivers.

Can Jovicic win on home soil?

After two races, the battle in the Matrix Formula class is between the current leader Andreas Stiebler (Schumacher), David Ehrbar (Xray), Luka Jovicic (Xray) and René Kölbel (Xray). Stiebler is 3 points ahead of Ehrbar, with Lovicic a further 2 points behind. Stiebler finished third in Apeldoorn and won a real thriller in Aigen after a gripping battle with David Ehrbar. Ehrbar himself is still looking for his first win of the season.

Luka Jovicic, who joined the club of ETS race winners in Apeldoorn, will be looking to put in another great performance, because Luxembourg is his home track, his home club, his living room… Can Jovicic win another ETS race, or will Stiebler and Ehrbar have what it takes to beat the local hero on home soil? It is game on in the Matrix Formula class!

Rheinard, Lauter, and Hovgaard crowned EFRA European Champions

0

Lest weekend, the 1:10 scale TC and FWD EFRA Euros took place in Roeselare, Belgium. The event was highly anticipated and attracted 120 racers to fight for the title in in the FWD class, 13.5 Spec, and the premier Modified class. The weather was up and down all weekend long as rain, wind, and ever changing conditions made it a tricky weekend for everybody.

Modified – Rheinard wins first EFRA TC title since 2011

The Modified class was a great show and in the hands of Michal Orlowski (Schumacher) who was TQ after qualifying. Also Marc Rheinard (Awesomatix) and Bruno Coelho (Xray) had been able to TQ a round, but it was the dominant Schumacher driver Michal Orlowski who started from pole into the triple A-Mains. The finals did not went to Orlowski`s favour as he made some small and costly mistakes. He lost A1 to Rheinard, while Coelho was able to take a slightly rain affected A2. It was all down to the line in A3 and Rheinard was able to pass Orlowski after the Schumacher driver struggled a bit in one single corner. Rheinard had to hold off a hard charging Coelho for the rest of the run. Bruno had a strong pace but Rheinard showed all his experience to bring home the win and the first EFRA TC title since he won it the last time in 2011. In the same moment, it was also the first EFRA TC Modified title for Awesomatix, and Rheinards new electronic sponsor Cayote.

13.5 Spec – Lauter takes the title from Payne and Degryze

The hard fought Spec class saw Awesomatix driver Simon Lauter taking the win from P1 on the grid. Schumacher driver Ollie Payne finished second overall and was joined by his sensational driving teammate Niels Degryze on the podium. Adam Izsay (Xray) and Olivier Bultynck (Awesomatix) completed the top 5.

FWD – Hovgaard wins from fourth on the grid

Frederik Hovgaard (Yokomo) from Denmark is the newly crowned FWD champion. He was able to win from fourt on the grid which is something we do not see very often in RC racing. In the end he was tied on points with Adam Izsay (Xray) and Hovgaards winning time from A1 was 0.156 seconds faster that Izsay`s time from A3. Stefan Schulz (Xray) won A2 with a much faster time but he was behind Hovgaard and Izsay on points to take third overall behind Izsay and Hovgaard. Daniel Pöhlmann (Awesomatix) and Jacques Libar (Xray) completed the top 5.

MR33 Horizontal Body Mounting Tool

0

MR33, in collaboration with BOOM RC, is launching the brilliant “Horizontal Body Mounting Tool” to make customizing your 1:10 scale touring car body a safe and easy task. Many racers are struggling while marking the holes for the horizontal body posts and the new MR33 tool will bring this struggle to an end now.

The “MR33 Horizontal Body Mounting Tool” consists of high-quality 3D-printed components and is assembled according to a modular system. This means you can use it with the most important 1:10 touring car bodies and always mark and drill your horizontal holes perfectly.

The base part is printed in such a way that it can be placed perfectly on the rear wing brackets of the corresponding body. This means that everything is perfectly centered right from the start. Use the enclosed full-surface plastic washers to set the desired distance between the body holes (measured downwards from the spoiler mount). Most teams already have specifications here that you can use as a guide.

The marking plate screwed to the base part indicates the perfect hole positions that you need to mark by means of the exact hole spacing. Then all you have to do is drill the holes and that’s it. Sounds simple – and it is.

With the “MR33 Horizontal Body Mounting Tool”, shaking or marking the holes at an angle is practically no longer possible. Different versions (with different inserts) are available, and MR33 has also prepared the marking plates for different touring car models.

Features:

  • 3D printed from high-quality materials
  • Extremely accurate fit for precise marking of the holes
  • Cool MR33 look made by BOOM RC
  • Easy height adjustment thanks to full-surface washers (included)
  • Marking plates available for different vehicle types (hole spacing)
  • Inserts for different bodies (e.g. Wolverine, Twister, Speciale) can be purchased separately

After our ETS reporter has now finished his summer vacations, we are happy to present you 5 things we have learned during ETS RD2 in Austria. And to everybody who is still enjoying the summer break – have a great time and relax from the stress of racing 🙂
The whole weekend was a blast and we saw amazing action and racing on track. Thanks to all the hard working people behind the scenes and all you racers for making it happen – see you soon for RD3 in Luxembourg.

1) Schumacher setting the bar higher and higher in modified while also getting stronger in ProStock!

The victory in Aigen was Michal Orlowskis seventh (!!!) consecutive ETS race win, which is just very impressive. But as we all have get used to the picture with Orlowski lifting the big trophy on the podium during the last one and a half years, we also noticed that Schumacher has improved a lot as a team. More and more drivers are running the Mi9, and the team is now also taking a serious approach to the Pro Stock class.

While Mattia Collina was their only competitive Stock driver during last season, the British team brought their 1:12 scale ace and BRCA stock touging champion Ollie Payne to ETS RD2. Payne was really fast in practice and showed that he can fight for a top spot in the Pro Stock class. With some bad luck, he “only” finished lat in the A-Main (11th place), but we can be sure that Payne had a little more to show. Austrian touring car frontrunner Dominic Vogl was back at the ETS in Aigen and was also running the current Mi9 from Schumacher to finish in eight place. We are excited what the team will show at the next race in Luxembourg. Schumacher is definateley stepping up their game right now!

2) Return of Xray top drivers highly appreciated by everybody

The second round of ETS Season #17 saw Xray`s top guns Bruno Coehlo and Alexander Hagberg returning to the ETS. After Hagberg was racing at the Season finale of season #16 in Wiener Neustadt, he was joined by double touring car IFMAR world champion and 4-time ETS champion Bruno Coelho. Xray`s very own Martin Hudy, who took care about their cars dunring the event, was also there and brought his little son Filip who was racing in 21.5 Stock and FWD during his “ETS debut”.

All racers had been very happy to see Bruno and Alex back on track at an ETS event, and for many of the new ETS racers it was the first time to see them racing live on track. Bruno was the closest competitor of race winner Michal Orlowski and both were putting on a great show for the spectators. Alex had a weekend to forget as there was always something happening on track that caused him to fall behind. However, it was amazing to have these guys back at the ETS and we hope to see them more often again in the future.

3) The FWD class is THE CLASS for super-close racing

The FWD class is a major part, and one of the most popular classes at the ETS since many years. In Aigen – Schlägl, most of the drivers showed why this is the case. We could watch super close racing – nt only in the A-Main. The cars are handling very well, and they are looking really nice on track too. The A-Mains had been very close, and beside some controversial situations (which probably costed Dominik Reile and Iris the race win), we saw super close racing on track.

The cars circulated around the Aigen track like a freight train and it was a pure joy to watch. We are very happy to have such a nice class in our portfolio and we can`t wait to see the cars going through the cork screw corner Luxembourg.

4) Driver of the weekend – David Ehrbar

It is always hard to pick only one “Driver of the Weekend” after an ETS race as there are so many guys achieving great results on track. This time we have choosen Xray driver David Ehrbar as our driver of the weekend.

Why? Well, David sealed two pole positions in qualifying with his Xray cars and started ahead of the competition in the 1up Racing 40+ Masters class and in Matrix Formula. David drove some very dominant touring car finals and was able to withstand the pressure of his team mate René Kölbel who was all over him in A1 and A2. Ehrbar showed all his experience and brought home a well-deserved race win.

He finished second in the Formula class after loosing to Schumacher`s Andreas Stiebler, BUT he was driving one of the best Formula A-Mains we have ever seen and had a great fight with Andreas in the last laps of the race – that was a real blast.

5) New drivers entering circle of ETS race winners

It is always nice to crown new race winners at the ETS. The story continued in Aigen where Team Yokomo`s Frederik Hovgaard (Hobbywing FWD) and Xray racer Jaroslav jun. Kriz (Orca 21.5) joined the circle of ETS race winners – a very elitist club. Congratulations to you bith, you did amazingly well and it was nice to see you celebrating with your friends, your parents, your teams afterwards.

ETS Constructors Championship update after RD2!

0

After the usual corrections for a game like this, the data for round 2 from Aigen-Schlägl has been analysed.

Have the rankings changed

Awesomatix is still in first place, with a slightly increased lead over XRAY in second place. Schumacher was able to close the gap on Mugen Seiki. ARC has been able to extend its lead over Yokomo.

But that doesn’t say much. We can assume that the respective team managers initially focussed on the top points scorers.

Strategy changes from round 3

Things get exciting from round 3 onwards, when the rule that a driver can be named a maximum of three times starts to take effect. In RD3, will the top points scorer still be chosen by the manufacturer or will there be tactics to see who might have a home advantage in Luxembourg? Which teams are still travelling to Luxembourg for training?

The use of the jokers

Every team manager has realised that nobody will know who used which joker and when. We know that this confidence will lead to the strategic use of these jokers.

A lot depends on who is a reliable supplier of points as a driver.

Updating the data

From Luxembourg, the data for the ETS Constructors Championship will be analysed and updated during the race weekend.
