It is not new anymore, but since the start of ETS Season #15 2022/23, we are giving some “special” awards to persons and drivers who have attracted attention during our races. This is a way to highlight them, and to show everybody what the ETS is all about. It is not only a highly competitive racing series, but also a family which is enjoying their events together. A lot of talents have grown up in the Euro Touring Series and have made their way up to the top level of our sport. Here are our special award winners from ETS RD5 in Hann. Münden:
“ONE TO WATCH” and “YOUNGEST RACER”
The award for the “Youngest Racer” and the “One to Watch” award went to one and the same young boy as he impressed us in many ways. Gian Pinelli from Switzerland is only 10 years old and he drove brilliant in the Hobbywing Frontwheel class withhis Xray X4F car. He was in hann. Münden with his father and they had a great time on, and off the track.
When watching Gian driving, it was really amazing to see his skills as he showed a goodline on track, he drove with overview and patience, and he made some great moves on other cars in front of him. In the end, Gian Pinelli finished in P50 out of 70 drivers and was really surprised when he received his trophies from Uwe Rheinard during the price giving ceremony. We hope to see Gian more often at the ETS and we wich him and his family a great christmas time and a good start into 2023.
“SPIRIT OF THE EVENT”
The “SPITIR OF THE EVENT” award was given away to the whole crew of the Trans World Hotel Auefeld in Hann. Münden. All ETS racers really enjoyed their stay in the complex, and this was also a merit of the staff in the hotel. The whole ETS family felt very welcome and everyting was prepared perfectly. From the rooms to the breakfast, the hall in which we raced in, and the dinner in the evening. Uwe Rheinard gave the award to the hands of Mrs. Annica Schumacher. She was caring about the whole event with her colleague, and took also great care of our media team. We really hope that we can come back to this great place in the future!
After everybody has returned home after ETS RD5, we saw a lot of social media postings with many positive words and comments – something which keeps us motivated to get the greatest RC racing series going. The three days at the Trans World Hotel Auefeld had been amazing and we saw a lot of happy faces during the trophy ceremony. Now, we are looking back onto the event and the “5 Things” we have learned from ETS RD5 in Hann. Münden.
1) Championship final in Daun to become the most thrilling final the ETS ever had
If you have read our Championship Update Report it may not be a secret for you! We will crown ALL six ETS champions at the season final in Daun. No driver was able to win a championship after 5 rounds of ETS racing so far which shows the huge competition at the Euro Touring Series. The quality of drivers and the racing itself is at its highest level, and nobody was able to dominate a class.
Here some statistics about ETS Season #15 2022/23 ahead of the last race
After 5 rounds of ETS racing, we had 30 decisions in six classes of racing.
We saw 20 different drivers taking the race wins.
Only 9 drivers won more than one race.

2) Iris ONE shows potential on track
As we mentioned in our preview article, a new touring car attended ETS RD5 in Hann. Münden. The Iris ONE platform is running under the Ruddog flag and is designed by Andreas Myrberg. The team was trackside with Alex Kunkler, Dionys Stadler, Dominik Schmid, and Andreas Myrberg driving the car in three different classes (40+ Masters, ProStock, Modified). During the whole weekend, they made a good progress and people could already see the potential of the new car.
For sure, there is still a lot of work to do for them, but they achieved some good results which can become even better in the future when they get used to the cars behaviour and the setup window even more. 3) Old but Gold – 20-year-old Rc cars are not slow
Most RC racers are always aiming to own the “latest and greatest” car on the market because they trust in the development of the RC industry. And for sure, the cars and electronics are way better and faster than 20 years ago. But in Hann. Münden, it was Yavuz Kura who was rocking his old Team Associated TC3 touring car on the track. The TC3 was “the car to have” in the early 2000`s and Juho Levanen (Finland) won two European championships (2002 & 2003) and some LRP Touring Car Masters races with this platform from the United States!
So, what can you expect form such an old car in the modern world of racing at the ETS? Not a lot you would probably think! But Yavuz was doing fine on track with the car, and he finished 33rd out of 40 drivers in the Orca 17.5 Stock class beating some drivers with the actual models from Awesomatix, Mugen, Xray etc… His fastest lap in the D-Main was a 15.2 compared to a 14.8 from the heat winner. We saw many surprised faces around the track and we have learned that it sometimes doesn`t need the newest stuff to enjoy the RC hobby! 4) Twister body got back to winning ways in ETS 17.5 stock classes
For more than a year, the Wolverine body shell from Zoo racing was winning almost every race in the Orca 17.5 Stock, and in the ToniSport 40+ Masters class. The only exception was the win from Manuel Stankowitz and Jasmin Donath at ETS RD3 in Andernach where they used the new Protoform P63 to win their races Stankowitz used the same shell again in Luxembourg to finish second behind Toni Mateo. This time in Hann. Münden, Donath and Stankowitz used the Twister body shell from Xtreme to TQ and win in the Orca 17.5 Stock and ToniSport 40+ Masters class. Both said that they had the best feeling with the Twister body in combination with the updated Matrix tires and the high grip carpet at the Trans World Hotel.
We learned from that, that every trend comes to a point where it is questionable and that it is always worth to try things again which have fallen a little out of favour. The ZooRacing Wolverine was still the most used body shell in the stock classes (also in 13.5 Pro Stock), but the drivers are now also trusting other body shells again and got rewarded with good results. The Matrix Modified class saw all (!) A-Main finalists using the Xtreme Twister or Speciale!
5) Hotel races are the best
As we mentioned before, we saw a lot of happy faces and received a lot of great feedback from the event. But what makes RC racing in Hotels so much better? Well, you can do the things you like the most at one and the same place. Sleeping, having a good breakfast, racing RC cars all day long in dry conditions, taking short brakes in the hotel room, enjoying the dinner with team mates and friends, and having a blast with some good drinks at the bar. This is what makes the difference and is one of the secrets to success of RC races in Hotel complexes. We can see that in the USA (Snowbirds Nationals, US Indoor Chamos, and IIC Las Vegas in the past), and we have the same here in europe at the ETS in Daun, and hopefully in Hann. Münden again!
These new products from T-Work`s are a great tuning option for the shocks of the Mugen Seiki MTC2 and Serpent X20-23 touring car. Due to the special DLC coating, the action of the shock shafts is smoother compared to the standard ones. They are available in a set of 2 or 4 shock shafts!
One day after the penultimate round of the current ETS season, the championship rankings are updated and you can check the actual rankings now. The season final in Daun will become a thriller for sure as no single championship is decided yet – something unique in the history of the Euro Touring Series. The Sporthotel Grafenwald in Daun will be the place to be from 26. – 29. of January 2023. If you like to sign up for the race, just do it and join us in the beautiful Eifel region. With already 320 entries, we are expecting another amazing weekend of ETS racing to bring a phantastic season to an end!
Völker climbs from four to one with five drivers still having a chance for the title in the premier class of the ETS
With his win in the modified class, Ronald Völker (Mugen Seiki) has brought his team and himself in a much better situation. He climbed from fourth place all the way to the top and is now tied on points (903) with Marc Rheinard (Awesomatix). While Völker has two TQ points in his bag, he is now ranked first ahead of Rheinard who claimed one pole position this season. Behind them, Christopher Krapp (901 points) and Yannic Prümper (900 points) still have a chance to win (and defend) the overall ETS title in Daun when Rheinard and Völker will not have a great race there. The same counts for fifth placed Lucas Urbain (899 points). He is four points behind the leaders and needs a TQ and win weekend in Daun with the others not finishing second or third. Difficult, but not impossible!
The pendulum swings towards Lauter after a dominant weekend at the Trans World Hotel
After a strong weekend, Simon Lauter walked away with the maximum amount of points from Hann. Münden. A big break for the defending champion in the Awesomatix ProStock class. Before the weekend, he was on the same level of points as his Awesomatix team manager Max Mächler. But after Mächler finished only fourth at the last race, Lauter is having a three point advantage now which he will carry over the christmas days into 2023 and the season final in Daun. However, nothing is decided yet and Mächler still has the chance to win it when something unexpected will happen to Lauter (in case of results) at ETS RD6.
Podium finish bringing Schulz back to the top while Olsen and Borschel will hunt him “from dusk till DAUN”
Stefan Schulz (Xray) was able to finish the race in Hann. Münden in front of his main championshio contender Steven Olsen (Awesomatix). They took third and fourth places behind the very strong driving Roman Borschel (Awesomatix), and Sören Sparbier (Serpent). This result brought Schulz back into the championship lead by three points from Olsen (905 to 902 points). But after a very dominant performance from Roman Borschel in Hann. Münden, we should also have an eye on him at the last race in Daun. Borschel is now sitting in third position overall, five points behind Schulz, and he has noting to loose at the season final of the Euro Touring Series.
The racing weekend in Hann. Münden brought even more tension into the championship fight of the Orca 17.5 Stock class. Jasmin Donath won her second race of the season and closed the gap to reigning champion Dominik Reile to the smallest margin of only 1 point (905 to 904 points). Jasmin Donath is in a great form and she drove totally unimpressed from all the things going on around her. Dominik Reile finished fifth in Hann. Münden and lost some ground again. He is still benefitting from his perfect start into the season with two TQs and race wins, and another TQ in Luxembourg. He will be hard to beat on the tie breaker, but another perfect weekend from Donath could earn her the overall championship title as well. Kevin Schmid, Joshua Winkler, and Daniel Pöhlmann are some points behind the leaders and only a miracle can take the championship away from Reile or Donath. It is going to be an epic weekend of racing in Daun.
Stankowitz now equal on points with Mateo after brilliant job at German ETS
Toni Mateo was not able to attend the ETS race in Germany, and Manuel Stankowitz took the maximum out of the situation by closing the gap to the Spaniard completeley. Both will arrive to the season final in Daun with 906 points, and the showdown will be all between these two drivers. They both have two TQs, two race wins, and one second place to their favour and it will be a race to the finish line until we know who will be the best 40+ driver at the ETS. Can Toni Mateo defend his title? Or can Manuel Stankowitz win it for the first time in his RC racing carreer? Daun will tell us!
New champion to be crowned in Daun with showdown between Kölbel and Stiebler
After Jan Ratheisky was not able to attend the race due to sickness, it is now clear that he will not have any chance for the championship at the final race in Daun. He was only on the line at two races this season (which he won both), and will not be able to score enough points to get back into the fight. The showdown for the overall ETS title will be between René Kölbel (Xray) and Andreas Stiebler (Schumacher). Kölbel is now ahead by one single point, but Stiebler has two TQ points to his favour (Kölbel only one). The last race of the season will bring the decision for the title and we are already excited for the big show in Daun at the end of January 2023!

Matrix Modified
Völker wins Modified and adds more tension to championship battle ahead of season final in Daun
A2 – The second A-Main of the Matrix Modified class saw Marc Rheinard spinning out in the first lap of the race, where the Awesomatix driver was a little too close on the curbing in the fast left hander in front of the drivers stand. He dropped down to the end of the pack and showed some great RC driving afterwards as he pushed Patrick Gollner around the track fighting for one of the spots at the end of the field. It was great to watch, and the crowd loved it. But for sure, this was not what Rheinard had in mind at the sound of the tone. Out front, it was Mugen Seiki`s Ronald Völker controlling the race with Lucas Urbain (Awesomatix) in second spot. They had a similar pace and Lucas was not able to come close enough to Völker. After the 5 minutes, Ronald Völker took the win in A2, earning his first ETS race win of the actual season. A very important step for him to get even closer to Rheinard and Krapp in the overall championship rankings.
Asked about his race win, Ronald Völker said:
I am more than delighted with my TQ and win here in Hann. Münden. It brings me totally back in the fight for the ETS title what I did not expect anymore at some point in the middle of the summer season. My LRP powered MTC2 was very good all weekend long, the same as it was at the EWS race last weekend in Great Britain on different tires. I like to thank all my sponsors for their support and I am already looking forward to the season final in Daun!

Marc Rheinard was a little disappointed in a quick chat with the media team:
A2 was a nightmare for me. My car spun around in lap 1 and I think I was a little too aggressive in this corner so I can only blame myself. It is a bit of a bummer as my car felt amazing to drive during the run. I then had a nice battle with Patrick Gollner and he did really well. Now I will try to win A3 to take second overall.
Marc Rheinard (DE) Awesomatix, Orca
A3 –Marc Rheinard and Lucas Urbain made the show in the last Modified A-Main. Lucas Urbain came really close in the last laps of the race, but Rheinard was able to stand his ground bringing home the win and second place overall for the weekend. Lucas Urbain finished second in A3, and third overall behind Völker and Rheinard. The Yokomo drivers Yannic Prümper and Christopher Krapp finished fourth and fifth in Hann. Münden and the championship final in Daun is expected to be a real thriller!

Lauter wins ProStock class and makes a big step to defend overall ETS title
A2 – Simon Lauter (Awesomatix) took the win in the second leg of A-Mains here in Hann. Münden. After a perfect start, Lauter was able to pull away while Tim Benson (Awesomatix) had a lot of work to do to defend his second position against reigning European champion Olivier Bultynck (Awesomatix) during the entire run. Bultynck knocked on the door two times but didn`t find his way around Bensons car. Simon Lauter took full advantage out front and brought home a well-deserved win in the Awesomatix Pro Stock class. Max Mächler (Awesomatix) and Adam Izsay (Xray) completed the top 5 in A2.
A3 – The last A-Main of the Awesomatix Pro Stock it was Tim Benson starting from first place while overall winner Simon Lauter being not on the line. Benson took full advantage and drove a perfect and dominant race in front of Olivier Bultynck and max Mächler. Benson took the last A-Main and finished second overall while Olivier Bultynck secured himself the last place on the podium making it a complete podium lockout for Awesomatix.
Race winner Simon Lauter had the following statement after A2:
My weekend was close to perfection to be honest. I am happy with my own driving, and everything came together as we also had some luck with using the new tires (second set) in the right moment. The whole team worked together very intense, which is easy to see on the number of Awesomatix cars we have in all A-Mains. We made a big step forward with the setup of our car which now suits the driving style of almost everybody. I like to thank Tim Wahl again for his great work supporting all Awesomatix drivers here at the race and I can`t wait for the new (and still top secret) RC Manager game to get released soon!

ETS welcomes a new driver in the circle of winners as Borschel takes overall victory
A2 – Roman Borschel copied his run from Saturday evening`s A1 and took another impressive win in the second A-Main of the Hobbywing Frontwheel class. Sören Sparbier and Stefan Schulz battled for second and third, while Olsen and Stankowitz had another intense fight for P4 and P5 someway behind. With his win in A2, Roman Borschel took his first ETS race win and was happy to receive many congratulations from his competitors coming down the drivers stand.
A3 – The last A-Main of the Hobbywing Frontwheel class produced a nice fight for the win between Sören Sparbier and Stefan Schulz. They drove around the track nose to tail and Sören took the win to finish second overall while Schulz finished third right in front of Steven Olsen and Manuel Stankowitz.

Donath celebrates second win of current ETS season at the Trans World Hotel
A2 – In the second A-Main, all eyes had been on young Jasmin Donath from Berlin after she took A1 on Saturday evening. The pressure was high and Roman Borschel went all-in to set her under pressure, but Jasmin was able to lay down a clean run onto the black ETS carpet in the second final to win her second race of the season. Daniel Pöhlmann and Dominik Reile finished third and fourth in the second Orca 17.5 Stock A-Main. Jasmin Donath got the maximum of applause from the crowd around the track, and she collected maximum points from this race which puts herself even closer to the overall championship.
A3 – Jasmin Donath watched A3 from the side line and saw Roman Borschel taking the win in the last A-Main of the Orca 17.5 Stock class. Daniel Pöhlmann, Dominik Reile, Tristan Bergheim, and Kevin Schmid finished behind Borschel in the top 5. The final result will see Roman Borschel (2nd) and Daniel Pöhlmann (3rd) stepping onto the podium with Jasmin Donath.
Mission accomplished as Stankowitz takes overall victory in Hann. Münden
A2 – The second A-Main of the ToniSport 40+ Masters class was in control of Manuel Stankowitz again. He had a perfect start and looked as he was driving in his own world out front. Nobody was able to challenge him during the entire run and Stankowitz brought a very dominant and perfect weekend to an and with the overall win. Behind him, Michel Zierold and Ulrich Dinger enjoyed their fight for second and third place with Sammy Pajalin and Joachim Altenhof rounding out the top 5.
A3 – In the last leg, the podium was on the line and Michel Zierold (Awesomatix) was able to win the race from first on the grid. Mirco Thalheimer (Xray) started from 7th on the grid and drove a great race up to second with Andreas Myrberg (Iris) in third place. Overall race winner Manuel Stankowitz will be joined on the podium by Michel Zierold and Ulrich Dinger.

Kölbel takes A2 and wins the Formula class at ETS RD5
A2 – René Kölbel found his way to the front again in the second A-Main after race leader Andreas Stiebler had some trouble with traction rolling. Kölbel drove without any mistakes and crossed the finish line after 5 minutes in front of Andreas Stiebler and Herbert Weber to celebrate his second ETS race win.
A3 – Andreas Stiebler sorted his traction rolling problems out before A3 and took the win from Gergö Valent and Luka Jovicic. The win in A3 secured him second place overall while Gergö Valent also stepped onto the Formula podium in Hann. Münden.
After another amazing weekend of ETS racing, we like to thank everybody for coming. The huge number of entries makes us really proud, and we are already looking forward to our next ETS race, which will take place at the end of January in Daun, GER. Ronald Völker (Mugen Seiki) was on a mission in the first Matrix Modified A-Main. He got off the line very good and took the win from Awesomatix driver Marc Rheinard and Lucas Urbain. It was amazing to watch the modified drivers on track, and the audience had nothing but applause for them after a brilliant race. Völker crossed the line 0,5 seconds ahead of Rheinard, with Lucas Urbain following two second behind them on a solid third place. The Yokomo duo of Yannic Prümper and Christopher Krapp took fourth and fifth in A1.
In the Awesomatix Pro Stock class, Simon Lauter drove to the win in the first A-Main ahead of second place starter Tim Benson who was pushing like hell to create a lot of pressure on Lauter. But Lauter made no mistakes, and Benson found no chance to ride a serious attack on the Awesomatix car in front of him. The win in A1 was a big break for Lauter who is aiming to win the overall championship at the end of the season. Olivier Bultynck, Max Mächler, and Patrick Danielsen completed the top 5 in the opening leg of Pro Stock A-Mains.
FWD TQ Roman Borschel won the first A-Main of the Hobbywing Frontwheel class in Hann. Münden. He was the fastest driver on track and was able to check out completely from the rest of the field. Sören Sparbier drove his own race in second place and behind him we saw an amazing show of respectful FWD racing between Schulz, Olsen, and Pöhlmann. That’s how it’s done gentlemen!
At the sound of the tone, young Jasmin Donath pulled the trigger and brought the field around the first corner. Daniel Pöhlmann found his way around second place starter Roman Borschel and closed the gap to Jasmin Donath lap after lap. But after 2 minutes, the gap remained the same as Jasmin`s pace was too strong for all the others. In the last minute of the race, Pöhlmann had his rear-view mirror full of Henrik Heitsch who looked fastest on track in the final stages of A1. However, in the end it was Roman Borschel who took second place on the line after Pöhlmann and Heitsch had a controversial collision for which Pöhlmann got a penalty. Jasmin Donath took a well-deserved win in A1 and can bring home the overall victory on Sunday.
Dominant Stankowitz wins the first A-Main in the Masters class
The opening leg of A-Mains in the ToniSport 40+ Masters class saw pole sitter Manuel Stankowitz taking an impressive race win. He took the win from tone to tone and has put himself into a perfect situation for the remaining two finals. Michel Zierold, Ulrich Dinger and Sammy Pajalin had a great fight for positions two, three and four and finished exactly in this order. Manuel Stankowitz is only one win away from the overall win and will try his very best to walk away with maximum points from Hann. Münden!
Kölbel wins the first final after making a clever move on Stiebler
The first A-Main of the Scorpion Formula class was amazing to watch because of Andreas Stiebler, René Kölbel, and Gergö Valent. All drivers got off the line at the sound of the tone and Kölbel was putting a lot of pressure on the rear of Stiebler immediately. Stiebler was defending like a lion, and it looked very good for him until they catched up with some backmarkers in the last 30 seconds of the race. The lapped cars raced closely as well and opened enough space for Stiebler and Kölbel to get by. But in that moment, Kölbel had the better awareness for the overall situation and passed Stiebler with a clean and clever move. Kölbel took the win in front of Stieber and a strong driving Gergö Valent and everything is more than wide open for A2 and A3 on Sunday!

After the third and fourth round of qualifying, the grid for our triple A-Mains is set to go here at ETS RD5 in Hann. Münden. Everybody is excited for the A-Mains to come with the first round taking place this evening. But before we think about the finals, we like to let you know who made it into the big show at ETS RD5 in Germany.
Matrix Modified
Rheinard wins last round of qualifying but Völker is on pole position
Q3 – Ronald Völker took the third round of Matrix Modified qualifying here in Hann. Münden. It was another super close race between him, Rheinard, and Urbain. Rheinard was leading the race but had some bad luck while lapping a car and lost the deciding tenths in that moment. Völker took the win by 0,6 seconds from Rheinard and Urbain which brought him very close to the overall TQ.
Q4- Long story short: Rheinard won the final round of qualifying from Völker and Urbain. With Völker and Rheinard now equal on TQ runs, Völker`s faster overall runtime was the deciding factor which earned him the pole position. The track here in Hann. Münden is challenging and very technical and the pole position will be a huge benefit as we expect overtaking to be very hard. Everybody is looking forward to A1 which will take place later in the evening and the stage is set for some amazing ETS racing.

Q3 – The third round of Awesomatix Pro Stock qualifying produced another TQ run from Tim Benson. The privateer Awesomatix racer outpaced championship contender Simon Lauter again, this time by 1,7 seconds. Olivier Bultynck, Max Mächler, and Adam Izsay completed the top 5.
Q4- The TQ was on the line in Q4 and Simon Lauter was able to steal the pole position from Tim Benson in the last laps of qualifying. Both drivers came out of qualifying with two TQ runs, and in the end, it was Lauter with the better overall runtime (0,220 faster) which brought him on kind of a last minute pole position. As Lauter is a great final racer, it will be very exciting to see if Benson, Bultynck, or Mächler can throw something at him in the finals or not. It is “Game On” in the Awesomatix Pro Stock class at ETS RD5 in Germany!

Borschel secures pole position at the Trans World Hotel Auefeld
Q3 – Roman Borschel won the third round of FWD qualifying with Steven Olsen and Sören Sparbier in toe. The decision for the overall TQ was shifted to Q4 where Sören Sparbier and Roman Borschel had the best chances to claim the very important pole position. But Sören Sparbiers TQ from Q1 run was slower compared to both TQ runs from Borschel, and Sparbier needed a small miracle ahead of Q4 to take the TQ away from Borschel in the last heat of qualifying. Steven Olsen and Stefan Schulz could, at this point, only hope to get back into the fight for the win from third and fourth on the grid.
Q4 –With his third consecutive TQ run, Roman Borschel sealed the sweet spot for the tripe A-Mains in the final qualifier. Sören Sparbier pushed hard as he also had the chance for the overall TQ, but had to settle for third for the round in front of Daniel Pöhlmann (4th) and Steven Olsen (5th). Manuel Stankowitz took a second place in Q4 (running in the second fastest heat) which secured him 5th position on the grid.

Donath overall TQ after blistering Q3 and Q4 performance
Q3 – Jasmin Donath took the win in the third round of Orca 17.5 Stock qualifying ahead of Daniel Pöhlmann, Roman Borschel, and Henrik Heitsch. Donath`s run was faster then the previous two TQ runs from Roman Borschel, which opened a good chance for Jasmin to snatch the TQ away from Borschel in the last round.
Q4 – It was again the young lady from Berlin (Germany) who drove a brilliant race taking another win from Henrik Heitsch and a much-improved championship leader Dominik Reile. The decision for the overall TQ felt into favour of Donath in the end as she had the faster runs on her side. Roman Borschel will line up second on the grid and Daniel Pöhlmann will attack from third position.

Stankowitz to start from pole position into triple A-Mains at ETS RD5 in Germany
Q3- Manuel Stankowitz will start from the best spot on the grid into the upcoming triple A-Mains of the ToniSport 40+ Masters class. He took the third round after winning Q1 and Q2 and is still looking very strong on track.
Q4- The ToniSport 40+ Masters TQ Manuel Stankowitz showed that he will not give anything away to his competitors as ha also won the last round of qualifying. His driving was on point again and his car looked just perfect on track. But qualifying is only half of the job and now it is about Stankowitz to keep the focus for A1 in the evening as high as possible.

Stiebler sweeps Formula qualifying at ETS in Hann. Münden
Q3 – Another win for Andreas Stiebler, making it three out of three, secured him the pole position in the Scorpion Formula class at ETS RD5. He took the win from Kölbel and Valent as in the previous two qualifiers.
Q4 – Same story in Q4. Stiebler took another win making it a clean sweep in qualifying. But René Kölbel was very close all time and it looked like he found something on his car (hot lap of the race) to pick up some pace. Andreas Stiebler will have a lot of work to do to bring home the win in the finals, and everything is set to go for a great showdown!

Dominik Schmid is running the new Iris ONE touring car for the first time ever here at ETS Rd5 in Hann. Münden, GER. The car is completeley new on the market and is a cooperation of car designer Andreas Myrberg and Sven Rudig (Ruddog). The car features a unique pushrod design with torsion springs and a single-lever rotational shock. The centre of gravity is super low, thus improving overall performance. Combined with sturdy double wishbones, the high performance suspension package ensures fast and consistent lap times run after run. Moreover, the newly developed pitch and heave shock improves handling under braking and high speed cornering. Together with an ultra-narrow bulkhead design, the efficient three-belt drive train results in perfect weight balance. With three identical belts, less belt tension is required than with a conventional two-belt set-up. Many unique details, such as an optional direct-mount aluminium fan, have been integrated into the design of Iris ONE to give you an edge over the competition. iris ONE is a very interesting and innovative car, and we are looking forward to the future of this new brand on the market of 1:10 scale touring cars.
In the second round of qualifying, drivers can always back up their good Q1 result – or recover from a bad start into qualifying. Rheinard fights back in Q2 where Urbain finished 2nd and Prümper 3rd
Awesomatix factory driver Marc Rheinard took the second round of qualifying at ETS RD5 in Germany. Ronald Völker (Mugen Seiki) made a costly mistake in lap number 7 when he traction rolled his Mugen car in the chicane before the main straight. He lost 3 seconds and dropped back to P4 in the end as it is just not possible to recover from such a time loss against all these fast guys. Meanwhile, Marc Rheinard was in the lead and Lucas Urbain tried everything he could close the gap to Rheinard. They were matching laptimes lap after lap and in the end the order was Rheinard, Urbain, Prümper, Völker, and Krapp. With this TQ run going to Awesomatix and Rheinard, the fight for the overall pole position remains wide open.
After Ronald (Völker) rolled his car before the straight he drove right behind me on track and I tried to make no mistakes while I knew that I was in the lead. It was not easy as I was not 100% happy with the car but it was very important to take Q2 as I now have a serious shot for the pole position in the next two rounds. We will work on the car now to get a little extra out of the package and then we will see what happens!
Benson wins second Pro Stock qualifier and is in the mix for the overall TQ now
Tim Benson took the second round of qualifying on Saturday morning at the Trans World Hotel in Auefeld. Simon Lauter took second place, and Olivier Bultynck third for the round. Adam Izsay and Max Mächler scored a fourth and fifth place for the round out of the second fastest group. The fight for the overall TQ is now between Benson and Lauter and will come down to the last two rounds of qualifying in the Awesomatix Pro Stock class.
FWD Q2 goes to Borschel who impresses in two classes this weekend
Roman Borschel took the win in Q2 of the Hobbywing Frontwheel class with his Awesomatix A800FX Evo. He also won the second round of Orca 17.5 Stock qualifying earlier this morning and it looks like he is a real master of the track. Stefan Schulz (Xray), Steven Olsen (Awesomatix), and Daniel Pöhlmann had a close and intense battle behind race leader Borschel and finished exactly in that order with Sören Sparbier (Serpent) taking fifth for the round. Roman Borschel is now leading the field of drivers into Q3 with the best of chances for the pole position and we will find out about our 10-car starting grid here in Hann. Münden after the next two rounds of qualifying!
The Orca 17.5 Stock class was the first category to hit the track on Saturday morning. It looked like Roman Borschel had a good night of sleep as he was totally on point with his second TQ run of the event! Henrik Heitsch (fastest lap) and Daniel Pöhlmann made it into the top 3 again and are Borschel`s hardest contenders so far. Tristan Bergheim had a good run as well and made it up to fourth position for the round with Maximilian Weißenbach posting the fifth fastest time running in the second fastest group. Roman Borschel is only one run away from securing his first ever pole position at the ETS. Can he make it happen?
The track is super fun to drive on and I enjoy it a lot. The traction is very high which is not easy to handle. I have not worked on my car a lot as I came here with a good setup from practice in Velbert. For the next run I will just drive again and have some fun. It is looking really good so far and I hope that I can continue like this.
Stankowitz again in Q2 while contenders not able to come close
We saw another dominant run from Q1 winner Manuel Stankowitz (Awesomatix) in the second round of ToniSport 40+ Masters qualifying. Stankowitz was a little on the curbing in the first corner coming out of the gate, but it didn`t cost him much and he never looked back. He crossed the finish line with a gap of 2 seconds ahead of Ulrich Dinger (Awesomatix) and Michel Zierold (Awesomatix). Andreas Myrberg (Iris) and carpet specialist Joachim Altenhof (Awesomatix) completed the top 5. Manuel Stankowitz is very close to seal the overall TQ now, and it will be a very important one in his fight for the overall ETS championship.
SO FAR IT IS GOING PRETTY WELL FOR ME HERE. WITH TWO TQ RUNS ON MY FAVOUR I THINK (AND HOPE) THAT I WILL BE ABLE TO START FROM P1 INTO THE FINALS. STILL NOT SURE WHEN I SHOULD USE MY SECOND SET OF TIRES WHICH IS NOT AN EASY DECISION.
Andreas Stiebler (Schumacher) took the second round of qualifying in the Scorpion Formula class. He had a big advantage of 4,7 seconds from his hardest followers Gergö Valent (Xray) and René Kölbel (Xray). Herbert Weber and Chris Grenz rounded out the top 5 and Andreas Stiebler is the top favourite for the overall TQ and the race win right now here at ETS RD5 in Germany.

Yesterday, we had a lot of work to do on the setup to prevent the car from traction rolling. We think the reason for that had been our older practice tires which had already soaked in too much of tire additive. With the race tires on the car, everything was find then and Andreas had two very good runs with his Schumacher Icon2. I hope he can continue like that 🙂

Völker takes intense Q1 from Urbain and Rheinard
In the first round of Matrix Modified qualifying we saw a nail-biting thriller from the first lap until the finish line. Ronald Völker (Mugen Seiki), Marc Rheinard (Awesomatix), and Lucas Urbain (Awesomatix) changed their positions (and the lead of the race) in almost every lap. In the end, it was Ronald who had the best outcome after the leading cars had to avoid another car which was lying on its roof in the infield section of the track. Völker took the win from Urbain and Rheinard as they finished in about 0,3 of a second. Christopher Krapp (Yokomo) and Michele Manzo (Awesomatix) took fourth and fifth for the round.
Pro Stock Q1 goes to Lauter in front of Benson and Bultynck
Simon Lauter confirmed his top seed result with a win in the first round of Awesomatix Pro Stock qualifying. He was able to take the win in front of Tim Benson and European Champion Olivier Bultynck. Benson and Bultynck posted the faster hot laps compared to Lauter, but the consistency of the current ETS champion was the best and he got rewarded with the round 1 TQ. Adam Izsay and Patrick Danielsen finished fourth and fifth for the round with their times coming from the second fastest group.
Local hero Sören Sparbier took the win in the first round of Hobbywing Frontwheel qualifying with his Serpent car. It was a close fight between him, Steven Olsen, and Roman Borschel during the entire run until Olsen dropped back in the last minute of the race after a small mistake. Borschel and Sparbier battled it out until the very last lap when Sparbier crossed the line 0,566 seconds ahead of Borschel. A perfect start for young Sören Sparbier into his home race. Stefan Schulz (Xray), Steven Olsen (Awesomatix), and Manuel Stankowitz (ARC) completed the top 5.
Borschel takes thrilling opening qualifyer on Friday evening
The first round of qualifying went to Roman Borschel. He drove flawless and took the win with a gap of 0,032 of a second (!) from second placed Daniel Pöhlmann. Henrik Heitsch was another 0,013 seconds behind (!) in which was a sensational race. The top three – only separated by 0,045! Borschel was very happy when he came down the driver stand while Pöhlmann was a little disappointed to miss the TQ run by such a small margin. Joshua Winkler and Henrik Heitsch completed the top 5 and we are already looking forward to the three remaining rounds of qualifying on Saturday. Can Pöhlmann and Heitsch fight back, or will Borschel take his first ever ETS pole position?
Top seed Manuel Stankowitz (Awesomatix) took the opening round of qualifying in the ToniSport 40+ Masters class. Stankowitz had a very clean race and won the heat with a very impressive gap of 3,2 seconds ahead of Ulrich Dinger (Awesomatix) and Andreas Myrberg (Iris). The fastest lap of the race was also to Stankowitz favour which must give him a lot of confidence for his racing on Saturday. Michel Zierold (Awesomatix) and Frank Fuchs (Awesomatix) rounded out the top 5 on Friday evening at the Trans World Hotel Auefeld in Hann. Münden!
Stiebler takes Friday evening qualifier from Kölbel and Valent
The first round of Scorpion Formula qualifying was a close affair between Andreas Stiebler (Schumacher) and René Kölbel (Xray). Both posted almost the same hot lap, and their medium time was close together as well. It looks like they have the best 5-minute pace right now and the next three rounds of qualifying will bring the decision for the overall TQ. Behind the leading duo, Gergö Valent (Xray), Herbert Weber (Xray), and Alex Bremer (Schumacher) made it into the top 5 of Q1 in the Formula class.
