ETS A2+A3 Report RD3 Season #15 2022/23

0

ETS RD3 is in the books. We had a fantastic weekend of racing here in Andernach, and we like to thank everybody for coming and supporting the Euro Touring Series. The deciding A-Mains took place on Sunday morning, and everybody was excited to find out who will walk away from Arena33 with a victory.

Matrix Modified

Mission completed as Rheinard wins first ETS for Awesomatix at Arena33

A2 – Marc Rheinard found his way back to the road of success at the ETS as he took the second A-Main from start to finish with his Awesomatix A800MMX. Marc had a perfect start, and nobody was able to challenge him during the entire run. The Yokomo duo of Yannic Prümper and Christopher Krapp was driving in second and third position and had a lonely team race behind Rheinard for most of the time. Yannic was able to close up to Marc in the last minute of the race, but he never got close enough to force Rheinard into a mistake. Behind the leaders, Lucas Urbain improved from sixth on the grid to fourth place and Marco Kaufmann crossed the line in fifth position at the end. A great weekend for Marc Rheinard and the Awesomatix team as they finally won a race together at the Euro Touring Series.

[the_ad_group id=”144″]

A3 – The last A-Main was in the hands of the Yokomo drivers Yannic Prümper and Christopher Krapp. Race winner Marc Rheinard (Awesomatix) watched the show from the side line, as the Yokomo guys brought the field around the first corner. Yannic and Christopher had a similar pace, and nothing happened on the front until Yannic Prümper took the win to seal the second overall spot on the podium in front of his teammate Christopher Krapp.
Further back in the field, Mugen Seiki`s Ronald Völker passed Marco Kaufmann`s Xray in lap number 4 at the entry of the chicane and tried to follow the leading Yokomo cars in front of him. But Ronald was not able to come closer and focused on defending his third place against Orlowski and Kaufmann until the finish line.

In the end, Marc Rheinard took a well-deserved win here at Arena 33 in front of the strong Yokomo duo of Prümper and Krapp. Mugen Seiki`s Ronald Völker finished fourth, and Awesomatix Lucas Urbain in fifth place.

Asked about his victory, Marc Rheinard said:

Looking back, it was a perfect weekend from start to finish. My Orca powered Awesomatix was on point just from the beginning and the whole team did a great job. I am happy to be back on pace right now and the last two wins (German Nationals and ETS) are giving me a lot of confidence for the upcoming IFMAR world championships in Italy. Once again, I like to thank the whole team and especially Tim Wahl for working on my car!

Awesomatix ProStock

Awesomatix playing the perfect team game as Mächler wins German ETS

A2 – The second A-Main of the Awesomatix ProStock class saw Max Mächler and Simon Lauter playing the perfect team game as they showed a great teamwork to hold off the very fast looking Jan Ratheisky again. Max started from pole position, and Simon was running in second place while Ratheisky tried everything he could to find a way around Lauter.
The top three were running in a gap of only 0.5 seconds for most of the race, and it was great to watch for everybody. Jan tried a move on Simon`s Awesomatix A800MMX in the last minute of the race, there was a small contact, but both continued without any position change on track. This small bubble handed a little breathing room to Mächler, and he was able to win A2 and the overall race after a brilliant drive at Arena33. Another impressive win for Awesomatix in the ProStock class at the Euro Touring Series!

A3 – With overall race winner Max Mächler not lining up for A3, it was the show of Simon Lauter and Jan Ratheisky who had to battle it out for second overall in the last final of the Awesomatix ProStock class. Simon got off the line perfectly with his Awesomatix A800MMX, and Jan Ratheisky was following him very close for the entire race. Jan`s car looked very quick but Simon didn`t offer any chances for a pass to Ratheisky. Alex Kunkler, Enrico Jung, and Lukas Ellerbrock completed the top 5 in the last ProStock A-Main.

Awesomatix Pro Stock winner Max Mächler talked to our media team after the race:

After the race, I needed about 20 minutes to come down as I was very emotional. I came here and didn`t expect to have a shot for the win but in the end, it worked out. The whole team worked together so closely again, and I am so proud of everybody. It is my pleasure to work with these guys! I also want to highlight Marc Rheinard`s win in the Modified class, which was very important for our Awesomatix brand, especially with the IFMAR worlds in Gubbio coming up in September. Thanks to the ETS crew for another great event – see you soon!

Hobbywing Frontwheel

Amazing FWD racing with Südhoff taking the overall victory

A2 – The first A-Main in the Hobbywing Frontwheel class was a highlight on Saturday afternoon – and the second leg didn`t disappoint the spectators here on Sunday morning at Arena33. Freddy Südhoff took another win to seal the overall win, but it was a lot of work for him. Südhoff had his rear-view mirror full of Sören Sparbier (Serpent), Roman Borschel (Awesomatix), and Kevin Sparbier (Mugen Seiki) during the entire run – no mistake was allowed. In the end, Freddy Südhoff took a hard-fought win in the Hobbywing Frontwheel class and was really happy to race so close with the other guys on track. Behind Südhoff, Sparbier, Borschel, and Sparbier, it was Stefan Schulz (Xray) who completed the top 5 in the second FWD final.

A3 – In the third A-Main of the FWD class we saw another fascinating battle. Sören Sparbier and Roman Borschel had an excellent fight for the win, with the better ending for Sören Sparbier. His brother Kevin finished third in this last A-Main, right ahead of Nicolas Delisé and Max Weffers. The overall result then saw Sören Sparbier and Roman Borschel stepping onto the podium in second and third behind race winner Freddy Südhoff.

Here are the overall results of the Hobbywing Frontwheel class together with the equipment the drivers used at Arena33!

Winner B-Main: Ulrich Dinger (DE) Awesomatix
Winner C-Main: Martijn van der Heijden (NL)

Orca 17.5 Stock

Dreams come true as Donath wins her first ever ETS race

A2 – Yesterday’s first A-Main was just perfect for Jasmin Donath as she was able to benefit from the crash between Winkler and Fernandez right in front of her. This morning, Jasmin was able to win A2 as well as she found her way by Joshua Winkler. Pole sitter Alvaro Fernandez made a mistake in lap 8 while he was leading the race and was out of the battle for the win afterwards.
In the front, Jasmin Donath drove another perfect race and celebrated her first ever ETS victory here at Arena33 in Andernach – what an amazing result for her!

A3 – After Jasmin Donath celebrated her fantastic win at the end of A2, the podium was up for grabs in the third A-Main of the Orca 17.5 Stock class. Pole sitter Alvaro Fernandez, who had two very unlucky finals before, drove to the win in A3 but that was only good enough to claim fourth position overall in the end. Joshua Winkler and Dominik Ruf finished second and third in the last final, but the podium positions got taken by Jasmin Donath, Joshua Winkler, and Roman Borschel.

ETS reporter Patrick Beck had a quick chat with Jasmin after her great win in A2:

In the last lap I got super nervous when I realized that I really can win the overall race. After crossing the finish line, the emotions went crazy, and I was just so happy. Everybody was congratulating me on the drivers stand and I felt like on cloud number 7 😊
I like to say big thanks to Max Mächler for helping me so much with my car, and to Manuel Stankowitz for all his support. It is a dream that came true today and I still can`t believe it!

ToniSport 40+ Masters

Stankowitz seals overall victory in the Masters class in the last final

A2 – Xray driver Caspar Morgen took the win in the second ToniSport 40+ Masters A-Main here at Arena33. He was taking full advantage of some serious driving errors made by race leader Stankowitz (Awesomatix), and second placed Mirco Thalheimer (Xray). Awesomatix driver Toni Mateo also moved up from fourth to second while Patrick Beck (Mugen Seiki) dropped back to the end of the field after flying off the track in lap 1. Out front, Caspar Morgen was driving a clean race and took a well-deserved win in A2, just 0.3 seconds ahead of Toni Mateo and Mirco Thalheimer. The decision for the overall win came down to the line in the last final of the ToniSport 40+ Masters class.

A3 – In the deciding leg of A-Mains in the ToniSport Masters class, the overall win and all podium positions had been wide open before the start. Manuel Stankowitz had a clean start and was leading the field around the track, with Thalheimer, Morgen, Mateo, and Beck right in tow. The order remained the same until Thalheimer and Mateo had a collision in front of the driver stand. Beck wanted to go by and got hit very unlucky as well. Caspar Morgen earned second place after that and was running behind Stankowitz until the end of the run. Patrick Beck was able to recover from the bad luck and finished fifth behind Torsten Baggendorf in the four.
The final result saw Manuel Stankowitz on top, winning his first ever ETS race here at Arena33 – congratulations Manuel! Caspar Morgen and Mirco Thalheimer stepped on the podium beside race winner Stankowitz, while Patrick Beck took fourth place overall in front of Torsten Baggendorf in fifth.

Here are the overall results of the ToniSport 40+ Masters class together with the equipment the drivers used at Arena33!

Winner B-Main: Frank Fuchs (DE) Awesomatix
Winner C-Main: Thomas Gerber (DE)

Scorpion Formula

Ratheisky crowns perfect weekend with winning the Formula class

A2 – Jan Ratheisky(Xray) and Andreas Stiebler (Schumacher) impressed us again in the second A-Main of our Scorpion Formula class. They drove nose to tail for almost 5 minutes, and Stiebler showed that he is a real contender for the “master of formula racing” Jan Ratheisky. But Jan stayed calm and didn`t make the smallest mistake. With winning A1 and A2, Ratheisky took the overall win in the Formula class right after the second A-Main – congratulations Jan!
René Kölbel, Herbert Weber, and Gergö Valent rounded out the top five in A-Main number two.

A3 – Andreas Stiebler took the win in the third A-Main of the Scorpion Formula class. He took advantage of his starting position as overall winner Ratheisky watched the race from the side line. René Kölbel was as close to the leader as he had never been before this weekend, and finished in second just one second behind Stiebler. Gergö Valent, Herbert Weber, and Mark Valent completed the top 5 in the last Formula final.

Here are the overall results of the Scorpion Formula class together with the equipment the drivers used at Arena33!

ETS A1 Report RD3 Season #15 2022/23

0

The first A-Mains here at ETS RD3 in Andernach are in the books. We saw a great day of high class RC car racing. After the track dried out in the morning, we finished qualifying and headed directly into the finals. Two more rounds are scheduled for Sunday to find out who will be our winners at Arena33. Here is what happened on a sunny afternoon!

Matrix Modified

Modified A1 goes to Rheinard and Awesomatix

We saw an excellent opening A-Main in the Matrix Modified class. Marc Rheinard brought the field around the first lap after a perfect start from everybody. He quickly opened a small gap to second placed Yokomo driver Yannic Prümper and controlled it in the first 2 minutes of the race. Yannic was not backing off and came closer to the Awesomatix A800MMX of Rheinard in the middle of the race again.
Behind the leaders, Ronald Völker (Mugen Seiki) was trying to create pressure on the Yokomo of Christopher Krapp in front of him. Ronald had a great start into the race from his fifth starting position as he overtook fourth placed Marco Kaufmann at full speed on the straightway – what a move from the reigning ETS champion Völker. But after that, he was not able to attack Krapp enough and had to settle for fourth place in the opening final.
In the last minute of the race, Yannic Prümper closed the gap to Rheinard once again and in the penultimate lap, he touched Reinhard’s car which spun around, and both continued in the same order afterwards. Marc Rheinard took the win in front of Yannic Prümper and made one important step to overall victory here in Andernach.
A2 will be on the line before lunch time on Sunday and we are already looking forward to another great show at Arena33.

Awesomatix ProStock

Mächler with impressive drive to victory in A1

Max Mächler drove to an impressive victory in the opening A-Main of the Awesomatix Pro Stock class. Right after the start, Max showed a great pace with his Awesomatix A800MMX and pulled away from the rest of the other drivers lap after lap. In the end, he won A1 with a gap of 3.5 seconds ahead of his teammate Simon Lauter, and Xray`s Jan Ratheisky. Ratheisky tried everything to pass Lauter who was doing a masterful job to hold him off until they crossed the finish line. Alex Kunkler and Lukas Ellerbrock completed the top 5 in a high-class Pro Stock A-Main.

Hobbywing Frontwheel

Südhoff wins thrilling first A-Main

The first Hobbywing Frontwheel A-Main was an amazing show. Freddy Südhoff (Awesomatix) was leading the race for the entire five minutes, with a hard challenging Sören Sparbier (Serpent) and Roman Borschel (Awesomatix) right on his tail. It looked like a freight train as the cars drove around the track at Arena33 and everybody was waiting for something to happen. In the last laps of the race, Sören was riding some attacks on Südhoff`s car but was not able to make it stick.
Roman Borschel passed Sören Sparbier once, to just give the position away to to Sören Sparbier in the next corner again. Stefan Schulz (Xray) was also in the mix and drove in fourth place – sometimes the best place to be when the top 3 are in an intense fight. It was nice to watch this final on track as the drivers showed a lot of respect, patience, and quality out there – well done!
After 5 minutes, Freddy Südhoff took the win from Sören Sparbier and Roman Borschel.

Orca 17.5 Stock

Sensational A-Main with best ending for Donath

The first A-main of the Orca 17.5 Stock class was very entertaining. TQ Alvaro Fernandez (Awesomatix) had a good start and Joshua Winkler (Awesomatix) was following him very close in the first minute of the race. But in lap number 5, Winkler touched the rear of Fernandez Awesomatix, and he spun around. Joshua waited for Alvaro, but his car was not driving anymore, and he was out of the race. Winkler also dropped down to the end of the field. Bad luck for both drivers and Winkler apologized to Fernandez right after the run.
After the leaders dropped back, it was young Jasmin Donath who was leading the race. She drove absolutely fantastic and had a nice fight with a hard pushing Dominik Reile, and Roman Borschel.
Reile was all over Donath, but the young lady was standing her ground and defended like a champion. The crowd was spending tons of applause as Jasmin crossed the line in first place after 5 minutes. A2 is on the line tomorrow morning, and everything is set for another great show as Fernandez and Winkler want to recover from their bad start into the finals for sure. Jasmin Donath can start very relaxed into A2 after winning the first leg in the Orca 17.5 Stock class.

ToniSport 40+ Masters

Stankowitz takes advantage and wins A1 from pole position

The first A-Main in the ToniSport 40+ Masters class was the show of Awesomatix driver Manuel Stankowitz. He had a clean run from pole position and took the heat from tone to tone ahead of a hard fighting Mirco Thalheimer (Xray), and Caspar Morgen (Xray). Mugen Seiki`s Patrick Beck was s able to get by Toni Mateo, who had some trouble in the first laps. Beck crossed the line in fourth position with Torsten Baggendorf (Awesomatix) in fifth place.
After his great run to victory in A1, Manuel Stankowitz will have a great Saturday evening and will line up in good shape for A2 on Sunday morning. Can anybody challenge him in A2 – we will find out on Sunday here at ETS RD3 in Andernach.

Scorpion Formula

Amazing first final goes to Jan Ratheisky

The first Formula A-Main was an amazing fight between pole setter Jan Ratheisky, and Andreas Stiebler. They raced very close to each other for the entire run, and it looked like Stiebler had some great pace and a little higher top speed in his Schumacher car. But Ratheisky showed his quality and routine in the Formula class with his Xray car and drove a perfect race to the finish line.
René Kölbel was a little behind the leaders and waited for something to happen, but in the end, he took a strong third place in the first final. Herbert Weber and Gergö Valent completed the top 5.
After this great opening leg of triple A-Mains, we are happy to see the cars for two more times on Sunday in the Scorpion Formula class.

ETS Q3 + Q4 Report RD3 Season #15 2022/23

0

Some fantastic sessions of Qualifying are over here at ETS RD3 in Andernach. All TQ`s are decided and all A-Main spots (excluding Bump Up`s) are booked. In our combined report, you can find out what happened in Q3 and Q4 here at Arena33 in Andernach, GER during the third round of ETS Season #15 2022/23. One round of finals will be on the line today, and two more finals will take place on Sunday.

Matrix Modified

Rheinard on pole position at Arena33 in Andernach

Q3 – Marc Rheinard took his second TQ run for the event with his Awesomatix A800MMX in Q3. This result brought him into a very good position for the deciding last round of Matrix Modified qualifying. Rheinard`s Awesomatix A800MMX looked strong in the warmer conditions on track, after the temperatures went up after the early morning rain shower. That allowed him to put a gap of 1.4 seconds over the rest of the world class field. Yannic Prümper (Yokomo), Marco Kaufmann (Xray), Ronald Völker (Mugen Seiki), and Christopher Krapp (Yokomo) finished in the top 5 behind Rheinard.

Awesomatix A800MMX of Marc Rheinard

Q4 – The fourth and deciding round of qualifying was on the line and this time it was Yokomo`s Christopher Krapp who was the fastest driver in another close heat of qualifying. He took the win from Marco Kaufmann, Michal Orlowski, and Marc Rheinard and will start third on the grid behind overall TQ Marc Rheinard and Yokomo teammate Yannic Prümper.

Christopher Krapp (DE), Yokomo/Racing Performer

Qualifying was intense here with challenging and changing conditions all day long and now we are heading into the finals very soon. The first A-Main will be on the line this evening, with A2 and A3 scheduled for Sunday. Can Marc Rheinard win his first ETS race for Awesomatix, or can the Yokomo guys set him under high pressure to lead him into trouble? Let`s find out in A1 of the Matrix Modified class here at ETS RD3 in Andernach, GER.

Here is, how the drivers will line up for the Matrix Modified A-Main
(Bump up driver to be decided in the first B-Main).

Awesomatix ProStock

Mächler is the overall TQ at ETS in Andernach

Awesomatix Pro Stock TQ Max Mächler (Awesomatix/Sunpadow)

Q3 – Jan Ratheisky was running strong in the third round of Awesomatix Pro Stock qualifying. He took the heat with 0.15 seconds from second placed Simon Lauter (Awesomatix), and Frederik Mikkelsen (Awesomatix) who had a strong run to third place in the second fastest group. With three different TQ`s until the end of Q3, the decision for pole position came down to the line between Ratheisky, Lauter, and Mächler.

Q4 – Everything was set to go in the last heat of Awesomatix Pro Stock qualifying. Max Mächler showed that he can do it at Arena33 as well, a track that is not one of his favourites. He performed like hell in Q4 and made no mistakes. Jan Ratheisky and Simon Lauter started with some hot laps as into the heat too, but both drivers made some rarely seen errors in the middle of the race dropping down all the way to the back of the field. For Mächler, it is the second pole position of the season, and he will have teammate Simon Lauter starting right behind him. Jan Ratheisky will start from third with Alex Kunkler and Enrico Jung completing the top 5 on the grid.

Here is, how the drivers will line up for the Awesomatix Pro Stock A-Main
(Bump up driver to be decided in the first B-Main)

Hobbywing Frontwheel

Südhoff on pole position for triple FWD A-Mains

Hobbywing Frontwheel TQ Freddy Südhoff (Awesomatix)

Q3 – After laying down a perfect performance in qualifying, Freddy Südhoff will start from pole position in the Hobbywing Frontwheel class. Freddy won Q3 ahead of Sören and Kevin Sparbier, with Roman Borschel and Stefan Schulz also finishing in the top 5 again. Even if the TQ was decided after Q3, the fight for second on the grid was still hot and alive. Stefan Schulz, Roman Borschel, and Sören Sparbier all had the chance to line up second on the grid with a perfect last qualifying heat.

Q4 – The last round of qualifying in the Hobbywing Frontwheel class was another close fight for the win. But as Freddy Südhoff had already sealed the pole position in Q3, the fight for second was going on between Sören Sparbier, Roman Borschel, and others. Sören showed strong nerves and won the last heat in front of Südhoff. He will start right behind “fabolous” Freddy into the triple A-Mains and we can expect great FWD racing from the entire field.

Here is, how the drivers will line up for the Hobbywing Frontwheel A-Main
(Bump up driver to be decided in the first B-Main).

Orca 17.5 Stock

Donath TQ`s last round of qualifying while Fernandez will start from pole position

Orca 17.5 Stock TQ Alvaro Fernandez

Q3 – Alvaro Fernandez took another TQ run and good points away from the third round of Orca 17.5 Stock qualifying. This result was very important for Fernandez, because only Joshua Winkler would have been able to steal the pole position away from the Spaniard in the ultimate round of qualifying.
Roman Borschel. Kevin Schmid, and Niclas Storm completed the top 5 in Q3 of the Orca 17.5 Stock class.

Q4 – The decision for the overall TQ was on the line between Winkler and Fernandez in Q4. But in between the battle, Jasmin Donath was on top of the board at some point during the race. She was able to stay ahead of Joshua and Alvaro until the end of the race and took maximum points to line up third on the grid for the triple A-Mains. Due to Donath taking Q4, it is now Alvaro Rodriguez who will start from the sweet spot in front of Joshua Winkler.

Here is, how the drivers will line up for the Orca 17.5 Stock A-Main
(Bump up driver to be decided in the first B-Main).

ToniSport 40+ Masters

Stankowitz seals pole position in close Master`s qualifying

ToniSport 40+ Masters TQ Manuel Stankowitz (Awesomatix)

Q3- Manuel Stankowitz posted the fastest time in the third round of master’s qualifying ahead of Joachim Altenhof, Mirco Thalheimer, Patrick Beck, and Ronald Arts. Stankowitz now had the best cards in his hands for the overall pole position as he already won two rounds of qualifying. Toni Mateo also has one TQ, but two DNF`s are putting him under serious pressure for the deciding fourth qualifier. Behind the top 5, the fight for the A-Main spots was still alive and some drivers still need a solid result in the last round!

Q4 – The last round of 40+ Masters qualifying saw Mirco Thalheimer laying down a TQ run. Behind Mirco, there was a close fight between Caspar Morgen, Manuel Stankowitz, Patrick Beck, and Ulrich Dinger. Beck was running second at the three-minute mark, until a car flew off the track and landed on the hood of Beck`s Mugen Seiki MTC2. Bad luck and his race was done. But in the meantime, Thalheimer crossed the line in first ahead of Caspar Morgen and Manuel Stankowitz, and Ulrich Dinger. It is always worth to watch the A-Mains in the Masters class, as we have seen some miracles in the past. Especially here at Arena33 where drivers won the race from P6 on the grid last season.

Here is, how the drivers will line up for the ToniSport 40+ Masters A-Main
(Bump up driver to be decided in the first B-Main).

Scorpion Formula

Ratheisky on pole position after Stiebler had hopes for overall TQ after winning Q3

Scorpion Formula TQ Jan Ratheisky (Xray)

Q3 – Finally, Andreas Stiebler (Schumacher) was able to take one round of qualifying away from Jan Ratheisky (Xray). Ratheisky still had the faster TQ run to his favour, but Stiebler was holding a theoretical chance for pole position alive with his win in Q3. Herbert Weber, René Kölbel, and Gergö Valent finished in the top 5 as well.

Q4 – As mentioned, the decision for pole position was on the line in Q4 between Ratheisky and Stiebler. Stiebler took the final round of qualifying from Ratheisky, but as both had been tied on points it came down to the fastest overall runtime which was on favour in Ratheisky. But as we saw Andreas Stiebler improving all weekend, the finals will be not an easy task for pole sitter Jan Ratheisky. Let`s see what will happen in the A-Main of the Scorpion Formula class.

Here is, how the drivers will line up for the Scorpion Formula A-Main
(Bump up driver to be decided in the first B-Main).

Find out who won the second round in all of our six ETS classes and see who is only one run away from the overall TQ.

Matrix Modified

Rheinard on top in the second round of Modified qualifying

Marc Rheinard (DE), Awesomatix/Orca

Awesomatix factory driver Marc Rheinard took the win in the second round of qualifying in the Matrix Modified class. It was a close heat and the top 5 raced in a couple of tenths for most of the run. It was a close fight down to the line between Rheinard, Prümper, Völker, and Urbain and the result showed them all together in about 0.754 seconds. Nothing new in top class RC racing at the Euro Touring Series 😊.

For Marc Rheinard, the result was very important as ha can fight for the overall TQ with Yokomo`s Yannic Prümper now in the next two qualifiers. Mugen Seiki`s Ronald Völker took a third place for the round – a step into the right direction for him after only finishing sixth in the opening round on Friday evening. Lucas Urbain (Awesomatix) and Jan Ratheisky (Xray) completed the top 5 here at Arena33 on Saturday morning.

Marc Rheinard told us right after his TQ run:

I am happy with the result as this was the fastest run for the day due to the colder conditions this morning. But I am not happy with my driving because I messed up lap one coming onto the straight and had another small bubble in lap 3 before entering the chicane in the infield section of the track. But the balance of the car, and the changes we made overnight, worked out and now I hope to be back in the fight for the overall TQ. Thanks to Tim Wahl who is working on my car this weekend.

Simon Lauter (DE), Awesomatix

In the second round of Awesomatix Pro Stock qualifying, Simon Lauter was back in the game after sitting out Q1 on Friday evening. Simon had a brilliant run with his Awesomatix A800MMX and won the heat with a gap of half a second to Max Mächler. Simon Lauter drove the fastest lap of the heat as well, showing that he is set to go for today.
Louis Kretschmer finished third fastest for the round and completed an all Awesomatix 1-2-3 ahead of Yokomo`s Enrico Jung and Lukas Ellerbrock (Xray).

Hobbywing Frontwheel

Sühdoff takes another TQ with Borschel and Sparbier in tow

Freddy Südhoff (DE), Awesomatix

The second round of Hobbywing Frontwheel qualifying saw the same winner – Freddy Südhoff. He was able to lay down a perfect run on the tarmac of Arena33 and booked his second TQ run for the event. Freddy (Awesomatix A800 FX Evo) is very close to seal the pole position now, which will be his target for the next round for sure.
Stefan Schulz had a bad run this time and stopped his car in lap 6. Meanwhile, Roman Borschel and (Awesomatix) and Kevin Sparbier (Mugen Seiki) took second and third for the round while Jill Bartsch (Awesomatix) and Caspar Morgen (Xray) took 4th and 5th.

Orca 17.5 Stock

Winkler takes early morning Q2 ahead of Fernandez and Borschel

Joshua Winkler (DE), Awesomatix

Joshua Winkler posted his first ever TQ run at his second ETS race – great result for the young and talented driver. He was followed by round one TQ Alvaro Fernandez, both drivers only separated by 0.218 seconds. Roman Borschel finished third for the round with his time coming from the second fastest group. Daniel Pöhlmann took fourth for place and Dominik Reile finished fifth in the second round of Orca 17.5 Stock qualifying.

We talked to a very happy Joshua Winkler after Q2:

Wow, that result felt MEGA. I got nervous when Scotty announced that I was leading the race. It was a feeling which I never had before and it was not easy to stay focused but somehow I brought it home 🙂
With a third and first place I am in a really good overall position now. My Awesomatix A800MMX is feeling superb on track and I will do some small tweaks and checks for the next run. Right now, I am just happy about my result.

ToniSport 40+ Masters

Friday evening Q2 goes Stankowitz

The second round of qualifying in the ToniSport 40+ Masters class happened on Friday evening, and it was Manuel Stankowitz who took maximum advantage out of his second set of race tires. After finishing 4th in Q1, Manuel was the fastest driver in Q2 and won the race in front of Torsten Baggendorf who was also able to improve his result from the first qualifier in which he finished seventh. Caspar Morgen also had a good run, and finished third in front of Ronald Arts and Ulrich Dinger. Joachim Altenhof took a solid sixth place for the round and Patrick Beck, who was third fastest in the opening round, had to settle for seventh in Q2 after loosing some time after a small mistake.
After two rounds of 40+ Masters qualifying, nothing is decided yet. Toni Mateo and Manuel Stankowitz areb now in the best position to grab the overall TQ and we are looking forward to see what will happen in the remaining two rounds at Arena33 in Andernach.

Scorpion Formula

Ratheisky close to overall TQ as he takes Q2 from Stiebler again

It was once again Xray`s Jan Ratheisky who came out fastest from Q2 of the Scorpion Formula class. But this time, Schumacher racer Andreas Stiebler was able to fight even more with Ratheisky for the heat win and in the end the two drivers had been only separated by one or two tenths of a second.
With two wins in a row, Ratheisky has all aces on his side and it will need kind of a miracle to see him not on pole position for the triple A-Mains. But first things first, as nothing is decided yet.
Behind Ratheisky and Stiebler, the Xray trio of Renè Kölbel, Herbert Weber, and Mark Valent completed the top 5 in the second round of qualifying here at ETS RD3 in Andernach.

Let`s watch out for Enrico and the Yokomo team here during the weekend as their BD11 cars are looking dialed and sharp on track.

ETS Q1 Report RD3 Season #15 2022/23

0

The first round of qualifying here in Germany is in the books. It was a sunny Friday at Arena33 and the forecasted rain luckily didn`t show up – a huge thank you goes out to the weather god😊. It was just the first out of four qualifiers, but it is always very important for racers to have a good start into an event. In qualifying, it gets more serious and intense after a lot of practice sessions where only three laps are counting. Here is what happened in the first round at ETS RD3 Season #15 2022/23 at Arena33 in Andernach!

Matrix Modified

Team Yokomo takes close Q1 with Prümper winning the heat ahead of teammate Krapp

Yokomo of Yannic Prümper

In the first round of Matrix Modified qualifying, we saw Team Yokomo on top for the first time this weekend. The race was very close between the top 4 cars on track, and in the end, it was Yannic Prümper who took the win ahead of Yokomo teammate Christopher Krapp, Lucas Urbain (Awesomatix), and Marc Rheinard (Awesomatix), all separated by only 0.573 of a second – what a thriller! Behind the top 4, it was Schumacher`s Michal Orlowski posting the fifth fastest time with Ronald Völker finishing sixth in the first round of Matrix Modified qualifying.

Asked about his TQ run, Yannic Prümper told us:

It was a great start into qualifying for me, and for Christopher (Krapp). Our cars are working good here on track, even if we are not the fastest in the opening laps of the heat. It seems that our setup is dealing well with the tires and because of that we have a good pace at the end of the run where some others seem to “drop” a little bit more then we do. Let`s see what happens tomorrow, we are ready to fight for another win!

Yannic Prümper (DE), Yokomo/Dash

Awesomatix ProStock

Mächler back on top as he takes Q1 from Kunkler and Ratheisky

Awesomatix of Max Mächler

The first qualifier in the Awesomatix Pro Stock class was taken by Awesomatix driver Max Mächler, who drove the fastest lap of the race with his Awesomatix A800MMX too. But the race was wide open until the very last laps as Alex Kunkler (Awesomatix) and Jan Ratheisky (Xray) had been in striking distance to Mächler for the win. In the end, Mächler had a gap of 0.584 seconds as he crossed the line. Behind Mächler, Kunkler, and Ratheisky, Olivier Bultynck and Sören Sparbier completed the top 5. Can somebody challenge Mächler on Saturday? We will know when Simon Lauter will be back in the game. The reigning champion saved a set of tires and was not on the line in Q1.

Hobbywing Frontwheel

Fabolous Südhoff TQ`s the first round in FWD

Freddy Südhoff (DE), Awesomatix

The Hobbywing Frontwheel class saw Freddy Südhoff (Awesomatix) taking the win in heat number one of qualifying. Südhoff had a close fight with Stefan Schulz (Xray) and Sören Sparbier (Serpent) and took the overnight TQ by three tenths of a second from his contenders. Nicolas Delisé and Roman Borschel completed the top 5 on Friday evening. Three more qualifiers will follow on Saturday and we are excited who will be our TQ for the triple A-Mains at Arena33 in Andernach.

Orca 17.5 Stock

Fernandez resisted the pressure from Donath and takes very close first round of qualifying

Awesomatix of Alvaro Fernandez

Travelled to the ETS in Andernach all the way from Gran Canaria (Spain), Alvaro Fernandez showed that he is a strong driver as he took the first round of qualifying ahead of the (again) very strong driving Jasmin Donath. Jasmin Donath was on fire and finished only 0.012 seconds behind Alvaro Rodriguez – good points for Jasmin in Q1.
Behind Fernandez and Donath, Joshua Winkler, Roman Borschel, and Dominik Reile completed the top 5 in the opening round of qualifying at Arena33.

ToniSport 40+ Masters

Mateo takes Master`s Q1 from Thalheimer and Beck

Toni Mateo (ES), Awesomatix

The reigning ToniSport 40+ Masters champion Toni Mateo (Awesomatix) was right there in the opening round of Master`s qualifying. He had a strong run and took the win right in front of Mirco Thalheimer (Xray) and Patrick Beck (Mugen Seiki). Manuel Stankowitz and Werner Schmitzer completed the top 5, and we can look forward to some close fights for the top positions in this hard-fought class at the ETS. The tire game will start now, as the drivers only have 2 sets of race tires available for 4 rounds of qualifying and three A-Mains (same as in Orca 17.5 Stock).
The second round of qualifying will also take part later this evening, but at RD2 is split, we will let you know what happened in our Q2 report on Saturday.

Scorpion Formula

Ratheisky takes opening round of qualifying ahead of Stiebler and Weber

Jan Ratheisky (DE), Xray

The first round of Scorpion Formula qualifying saw Jan Ratheisky (Xray) on top of the board. He took the first round from Andreas Stiebler (Schumacher) by 0,5 seconds, with Herbert Weber crossing the line in third position some 3,8 seconds behind. René Kölbel and Gergö Valent completed the top 5 in the first round of Scorpion Formula qualifying at ETS RD3 in Andernach. Ratheisky is the top favourite for pole position now, but Andreas Stiebler showed that he can win ETS races at the last race in Aigen-Schlägl and maybe he can find something to put some additional pressure on Ratheisky!

We talked to Lucas after the controlled practice:

My pace over three laps was good in all practice sessions. As we drove five-minute runs for the first time in seeding practice, my focus was more on the pace over the whole runtime. With this in mind, I was a little surprised to also post the fastest three consecutive laps now, but it feels great and I am very optimistic for qualifying. I will keep my head down and try to stay ahead of the field on track!

Hobbywing Frontwheel

Sparbier brothers on top of the FWD class

Serpent of Sören Sparbier

Sören Sparbier (Serpent) is leading the competition in the Hobbywing Frontwheel class ahead of his older brother Kevin Sparbier (Mugen Seiki). Only separated by 0.036 seconds, they will start first and second off the line for the upcoming first round of qualifying. It will be interesting to see how the brothers will deal with each other during the heat 😊. Right behind “the Sparbiers”, Roman Borschel (Awesomatix) had a great last seeding round putting himself into third place ahead of “fabulous” Fredy Südhoff (Awesomatix) and reigning ETS FWD champion Stefan Schulz (Xray). The FWD cars are looking nice as always on the track and the fight for the A-Main positions is expected to be intense and very close.

Orca 17.5 Stock

Fernandez is top seed in Andernach

Alvaro Rodriguez (ES); Awesomatix

After laying down some impressive runs in yesterday`s sessions of free practice, Alvaro Fernandez didn`t stop to dominate the Orca 17.5 Stock class. He was the fastest in the two rounds of controlled practice ahead of Daniel Pöhlmann who seems to be his hardest contender right now. Dominik Ruf was also doing well after missing out yesterday`s practice and is sitting in third place, right in front of reigning champion Dominik Reile and Joshua Winkler. It is hard to point out and kind of forecast for qualifying as we never know what will happen. But at the moment, Alvaro Fernandez seems to be very hard to beat for the rest of the top drivers in the Orca 17.5 Stock class.

The Top 5 after controlled practice (3 consecutive laps)

1. Alvaro Fernandez (ES) 1:01.579 (Awesomatix)
2. Daniel Pöhlmann (DE) 1:01.724 (Awesomatix)

Flavio Paladin (Xray) improved his pace from yesterday`s free practice and posted the third fastest time in the first seeding practice run. Toni Mateo (Awesomatix) and Patrick Beck (Mugen Seiki), who finished first and second in hotter temperatures in the last round of seeding, are rounding up the top 5 in the ToniSport Masters class. With four rounds of qualifying ahead of us, we expect some very close battles for the A-Main spots as a lot of drivers are running on a very similar pace.

The Top 5 after controlled practice (3 consecutive laps)

1. Mirco Thalheimer (DE) 1:02.267 (Xray)
2. Manuel Stankowitz (DE) 1:02.465 (Awesomatix)
