T-Work`s Titanium Outdrives for Xray X4-2023

0

T-Work`s has just released some new and interesting tuning parts for the Xray X4-2023 touring car. The front titanium Spool Outdrives (for BB drive shafts) and the rear gear differential outdrives are significantly lighter than the original steel parts resulting in less rotating mass and more drivetrain efficiency. When using the parts front and rear, you can save up to almost 7g of rotating mass which is a lot. No matter if you are racing stock or modified, these parts are a very good improvement for your Xray car.
-Soon available at ToniSport-

Available: New Hobbywing Combo for the ETS Formula Class

0

Dear ETS Formula racers,

after racing with Scorpion electronics for many years, we like to inform you officially about a change today!
From now on, the ETS will use a new Hobbywing combo for the Formula class. We like to thank Scorpion for their great support in the past years, being a reliable partner on our side.

Now, as we are moving forward, a new combo from Hobbywing will power the F1 cars around the racetracks. It came a long way, and the testing took quite some time under the lead of ETS Formula driver Jan Ratheisky and the Hobbywing development team. Now, everything is ready and the software of the ESC fits the 21.5T Hobbywing Motor perfectly. The combos are now available at ToniSport and the ESC must be in use from ETS RD1 in Apeldoorn.

The combo consists of the Hobbywing Handout Spec ETS Speed Controller and a Hobbywing Justock Handout Spec ETS 21.5T Motor!

We wish all Formula drivers a great experience on track with the new Hobbywing combo.

Uwe, Scotty, and the whole ETS crew!

Change of TC Motors and F1 Combos ahead of Season #16

0

Dear ETS Family,

the Euro Touring Series still is the leading racing series for electric 1:10 scale RC cars around the world. We have reached this status during the last 15 years because the ETS was always made “from racers – for racers” and with the main goal to produce fair and high class racing. The ETS has adapted it`s rules from time to time to keep up with the quickly changing industry and we always found a good way to succeed!

Now, we felt that it is time for some changes again to make our racing series even more attractive in the future. The development of motors, batteries, and speed controllers has not slowed down the cars in the last years resulting in all ETS classes being “very fast” on track. The speed of the Pro Stock class for example is comparable with the speed of modified racing 10 years ago.

After long and very constructive discussions within the ETS Orga Team, and also with the manufacturers, we have decided to adapt the Motors in our touring car stock classes. In the Formula 1 class, there will even be a completely new combo on the line for the start of ETS Season #16 2023/24.

Slowing down the Stock classes for better driveability and more racing action

From our point of view, the stock classes have become too fast and many average hobby drivers have become afraid about competing at the ETS against all the “top stock drivers”. Especially indoors the Pro Stock class has almost reached the speed of modified when we are looking closer at the laptimes. Therefore, we have decided to slow down these classes a little bit. With the current motor and software combinations the cars are reaching their top speed immediately when drivers are hitting the throttle out of the corners.

We are going to test the perfect gearing and software combinations as soon as the weather allows some proper outdoor testing. You will get informed immediately. However, the following hardware changes will come into force with the start of the new season in Apeldoorn (Netherlands) at the beginning of June:

Awesomatix Pro Stock

The Motor will change from ORCA 13.5T to the well-known ORCA 17.5T Motor.
As mentioned before, we will test several software, RPM Limiters, and gear ratios for the best possible driveability on track. Our goal is to slow down the class a bit, but to get a higher top speed compared to the 17.5T Stock racing classes which we had in the last years with 17.5 Stock and 40+ Masters.

Orca 21.5 Stock and 1up Racing 40+ Masters

These two classes will get their 17.5T stock motor replaced by a 21.5T Motor from Orca. This will also result in less motor power and a more realistic look on track with the perfect gearing and RPM limiter mode. Don`t worry, we will choose a gearing which will not slow the cars down too much.
In the same way as for Pro Stock, we will test and publish the new rules here as soon as possible. In the same moment we like to welcome 1up Racing as a new ETS sponsor on board, being the new title sponsor of the 40+ Masters class – welcome to the ETS family!

ToniSport Formula

In the newly named Formula class, we will see a Hobbywing combo (21.5T Motor) powering the F1 cars for Season #16. After many years with Scorpion, we like to thank them for all they have done for us and the Formula racers at the ETS. The new Hobbywing combo is already in it`s final testing stages and we like to thank all drivers who helped testing the ESC and Motor on their home tracks so far.
As soon as the software is programmed, we can start to sell the combos at ToniSport. Just wait some days and we will publish even more information for all Formula racers!

Matrix Modified and Hobbywing Frontwheel

These two classes will stay unchanged for the new campaign.
The Matrix Modified class is the premier class for the ultimate racing experience where every little detail counts. We see no reason to set any limits for this class as it is the most prestigious one at the ETS with manufacturers, teams, and drivers always pushing to the limits!

The Hobbywing Frontwheel class was the biggest racing class in the last 3 consecutive years at the ETS and we follow the “never change a running system” path here. The Hobbywing Motor and ESC combo of the Frontwheel class is already a perfect fit and no changes are needed!

New Season to kick off in Apeldoorn at the beginning of June

We hope that you understand the reasons for our decisions. The most important thing for us is to keep the ETS a racing class for everybody. The RULES for Season #16 will be completed very soon, including the new list of ETS body shells too. Stay tuned!

We are already looking forward to the new season which will kick off at the amazing track of the AMCA Apeldoorn in the Netherlands.

Uwe, Scotty, and the whole ETS crew!

Ratheisky & Mächler crowned German 1:12 National Champions

0

Last weekend, the German 1:12 scale nationals took place in Magdeburg, where the AMC Magdeburg welcomed 70 racers in three classes (EA, EB, and GT). The club organized a nice event with a familiar feeling, and all racers had a really good time.

The fastest class, EA Modified, was a showdown between Jan Ratheisky (Xray) and Christian Donath (Awesomatix). Jan was starting from the pole position after 5 rounds of qualifying, and got the job done after winning A1 and A2 from Donath and Markus Mobers (Schumacher). Daniel Sieber and Dirk Bräuer completed the top 5.

The EB Stock class saw the biggest competition at this 2023 german nationals with 37 drivers competing for the title. It was Awesomatix Max Mächler who came fresh from the TITC in Thailand to wheel his A12 pan car on carpet. He was TQ after qualifying and was able to win the first and second leg of A-Mains ahead of Christian Donath (Awesomatix) and Thomas Stenger in third place overall. Jan Ratheisky and Jasmin Donath completed the top 5 in the EB Stock class.

Dennis Miether is the new German national champion in the 1:12 GT class. He won the race ahead of Chris Geier and Jan Dietmar. Timo Schad and René Sagawe finished on P4 and P5 at the end of the weekend in Magedburg.

Völker, Izsay & Jung victorious at MIBO International Race

0

The MIBO International race took place last weekend in Hrotovice (Czech Republic). The race saw two tracks (On- and Offroad) directly beside each other and the event was fully booked.

Ronald Völker (Mugen Seiki) won the modified touring car class in front of Xray`s Antoine Brunet and Oliver Havranek. Eric Dankel (Mugen Seiki) finished fourt, tied on points with Havranek. Dionys Stadler (Iris) completed the top 5 at the MIBO race!

The touring car Stock class saw Adam Izsay (Xray) taking the win in front of his teammate Oliver Havranek, and Yokomo`s Enrico Jung. Jiri Vysin and Mark Valent made it to the positions 4 and 5.

Enrico Jung (Yokomo) took the win in the FWD class with Mark Valent and Daniel Pöhlmann following in second and third. Christian Schneider and Philipp Stadler completed the top 5.

EWS Season Finale

0

In Modified, new Yokomo signing Alex Thurston gave his new team something to smile about as he topped the first three qualifying rounds.  Already-crowned champion Kyle Branson took Q4 to secure second on the grid, with Kyle’s team-mate Harley Eldridge third overall and looking to secure the overall championship podium.  The top five was made up of the Schumacher duo of Andy Murray and Chris Grainger.

Alex led away the final, with the top two pulling away from the field.  Alex initially built a small gap, but Kyle then reeled him in and for the final minute, there was a great battle as it looked like Kyle had the slightly faster car in the latter stages of the race.  However, Alex kept his car on the racing line and Kyle wasn’t able to find a way past, leaving him to take the runner-up spot on the day.  The victory confirmed Alex as second in the overall points standings, whilst behind Harley was best-of-the-rest in third, with Andy and Chris maintaining their starting positions to round out the top five – which directly translated into the same results in the overall championship.

The Stock touring class was again the biggest entry, and once again Zak Finlay was in control, leading all four qualifiers.  However, it seemed the field had closed the gap to the Xray driver, as he was pushed hard in each round.  Billy Fletcher took second overall for Schumacher, with Tony Broad and Ricky Copsey lining up third and fourth for Xray, and Martyn Ross rounding out the top five with his privately entered Awesomatix.

The top two pulled away at the front of the A Final, as Tony dropped back behind Ricky and Martyn.  After about one and a half minutes, Zak made a rare mistake, rolling his car going through the fast sweeper.  This put Billy up to the lead with a healthy lead over Zak.  But Zak wasn’t giving up, and clocked off rapid lap times to get back on terms with his rival.  With just over 30 seconds to run, Zak was back on Billy’s bumper and made a move going through the slow section of the track.  The two cars touched, and Zak waited for Billy to recover, but Billy then got a body tuck, which led to him pulling off and thus promoting Ricky to second and Tony up to third.

In the overall championship, Billy had still done enough to take second overall, with Tony rounding out the top three ahead of Ricky in fourth and Martyn in fifth.

The Front Wheel Drive class saw the organisers make a change to the rules, moving in line with the world-wide standard of the 17,500 RPM limit and a fixed gearing.  This immediately proved to be a huge success, with the closest racing seen in the class all year and positive feedback from all who raced it.  Gareth Hollis took pole position on tie-break from already confirmed champion Shane Chipolina, followed by Andrew Cooper, Stuart Collard and Paul Hill.  An amazingly close final saw the top three separated by no more than a few seconds throughout.  Gareth crossed the line first, but a failure in post-race tech saw his time removed, promoting Andrew Cooper to the win, ahead of Shane and Paul.

This win meant Andrew and Paul tied for second in the championship, and despite Paul initially being announced as second, the post-race adjustment to the results wasn’t accounted for correctly, and so after the ceremony Andrew was then confirmed as the overall runner up, Paul in third, with Andy Faulkes taking fourth and Martin Southall in fifth.

Last, but by no means least, the Junior E class again saw the stars of tomorrow taking to the track.  James Snashall dominated once again, with the TQ and Win, with Harry Woron taking second on the grid, second in the final, and second in the championship after some hard battles with Chloe Snashall, who was third overall.  Frankie Fletcher took fourth in the overall points, with George Williams in fifth place and Eliza-May Fenn sixth.  Along with the awards, the drivers were also presented with prizes from the series sponsors, as a number have already expressed an interest in moving up to Front Wheel Drive or Touring Car next season.

A huge thanks to all the drivers for their support of the series this year, with the highest entry numbers ever, along with all the sponsors for believing in what we do!

Rheinard wins at AOC in Australia

0

The Asian Onroad Championships is back and the first race after a long break (caused by the world wide pandemic) took place at the beautiful “England Park Raceway” in Brisbane (Queensland), Australia. The race attracted more than 200 entries and saw a lot of international top drivers flying “down under”.

In the premier modified class, qualifying was a close affair between Marc Rheinard and Ryan Maker. With both drivers posting two TQ runs, it was Rheinard (Awesomatix) with the better ending while sealing the overall pole position in the last round of qualifing after suffering some tire issues in the round before. Behind Rheinard, it was Ryan Maker (Awesomatix) lining up second on the grid with Yokomo`s Nicholas Lee starting third. Jeff Hamon (Serpent) qualified fourth on the grid for the triple A-Mains.

Marc Rheinard was in control of the first two finals and was able to win the race at his first ever visit to Australia. His Awesomatix A800R prototype car looked dialed on track and his win was well-deserved. Behind Rheinard, the battle for second was between Ryan Maker and Nicholas Lee, whith the Singapore driver able to steal the runner-up position from the Aussie who had some tire trouble in the finals too.

It was a great AOC event at the amazing England Park Raceway!

Coelho and Wahl winning big at TITC 2023

0

The famous “Thailand International Touring Car Championship” took place at RC Addict in Bangkok, Thailand last weekend. After a 2-year Covid19 abstinence, the race was back with a full packed pit area and 400 entries in 5 racing classes. Many of the sport`s biggest names have won the TITC in the past, and it was another strong lineup of drivers fighting for success at the challenging track in Bangkok. The TITC is the biggest onroad race in Asia and always very important for all asian based companies!

Coelho wins premier Modified class ahed of Sobue and Ishioka

Bruno Coelho (Xray) was on a mission in Bangkok and claimed a hard fought pioe position after 4 rounds of qualifying. The fight for TQ was between him and Akio Sobue (Axon), with the better outcome for the portuguese driver. Coelho took the win from the sweet spot in A1 and A2 after some brilliant driving, and Sobue had to settle for a strong second place in the end with his teammate Ishioka taking third on the podium.

Wahl wins ultra competitive Open Brushless class

Awesomatix driver Tim Wahl was the man to beat in the Open Brushless class. The rules of this class allowing all 13.5T Motors including ESC boost settings made it almost as fast as modified. Tim Wahl won all four rounds of qualifying in a very impressive way with the new Awesomatix A800R touring car. Behind him, a stacked field of drivers tried everything to take the win away from Wahl but in the end Tim was celebrating a huge win together with his teammates after winning A1 and A2 in a dominant way.
