Branson wins RD1 of the Essex Winter Series

0

It was a full capacity entry for EWS Round 1, making it the biggest ever event as the series started it’s 12th year.

In the LRP Modified Touring class, Kyle Branson picked up where he left off last year, with the Series Champion taking all four qualifying rounds.  Behind him, Alex Thurston, who won the season finale last year was consistently second, fending off Elliott Harper, making his return to indoor racing, who would start third on the grid. Harley Eldridge was best-of-the-rest and took fourth on the grid, with Stefan Chodzynski rounding out the top five.

The A Final saw a good start, and Kyle looked to maintain his advantage for Xray. The race was clearly for second place as Elliott appeared to have a faster car than Alex at a number of points in the race, but Elliott could not get his Schumacher past Alex’s Yokomo, and so the overall top three remained in their starting order for the whole five minutes. Harley and Stefan also held on to their grid positions to leave the top five as it was in qualifying.

Rush Stock Touring

Finlay with perfect start into new EWS season

In Rush Stock Touring, Zak Finaly put his Xray on pole position, taking all four rounds, with his team-mate Tony Broad second in each qualifier just behind Zak.  Martyn Ross had a great time for Awesomatix and qualified third overall, with Billy Fletcher and Ricky Copsey making up the front half of the A FInal grid.

In the final, Zak had a commanding win, with Tony having a rather lonely race in second place, not close enough to challenge Zak but comfortably ahead of the third place battle. That battle was the place to watch, with Martyn doing a great job to hold off Billy and Ricky for the whole race, again meaning the top five finished up in their starting order.

Ride/MB Models Front Wheel Drive

Masterclass from Moorey secures first win of the campaign

In the Ride/MB Models Front Wheel Drive class, Ben Moorey was in command in qualifying, securing the top spot for Schumacher, ahead of the Schumacher engineering boss, Aaron Rose.  Nathan Parker would line up third with his Awesomatix, ahead of Andrew Cooper and Andy Faulkes.

The final was a masterclass from Ben who took the win, lapping everyone up to third place by the end! Behind, Aaron and Nathan dropped back early on and then had a great fight through the field to eventually regain their starting places by the end. The close racing also gave Craig Woods the chance to move up to fourth, with Andrew ending up in fifth.  With this being the first time the “ETS Spec” of a limited gearing and 17,500 rpm limit was in place, the close racing proved this is clearly the way to go!

Next up, the EWS International race takes place in November over a full weekend, where all the usual suspects will be joined by a number of star drivers from Europe!

Mid-season update – ETS Season #16 2023/24

0

The sixteenth season of the Euro Touring Series is at half-time. The ETS circus will stop for RD4 at the Transworld Hotel Auefeld in Hann. Münden (GER) in November, until RD5 will take us to the famous Sporthotel Grafenwald in Daun (GER) in February 2024. Daun was the last race of the season in the last few ETS campaigns, and now the season finale will take place in March in new facility in Wiener-Neustadt (AUT).

Constant number of entries at well-known outdoor tracks

The ETS team is looking back on three great outdoor races in Apeldoorn, Aigen-Schlägl, and Andernach which all attracted 200+ drivers to come and race with us. In times where some other racing series had been struggling with entries, we are proud and happy to have this amazing support from all of YOU.
A secret of this success are the great locations we can visit each and every year. The AMCA Apeldoorn is a big part of the ETS since many years and everybody likes to be there. We will do everything to keep Apeldoorn on the schedule for next season.

After racing in Aigen-Schlägl for the first time in 2022 with “only” 148 entries, the ETS sticked to the location for 2023 as we only received amazing feedback after the first event there. Everything developed well, and this year we have seen 202 racers on the list of entries – a clear upwards trend which means that we will also try to come back to Aigen in the upcoming ETS Season #17.

Finally, there is not much to say about Arena33 in Andernach. This track saved the ETS in the Covid-19 pandemic where we raced there many times to keep racing alive. Also afterwards, the ETS was always meeting in the hometown of Marc, Toni, and Uwe Rheinard to race on the ground of the DJK Andernach. Right now, we are feeling a little “Andernach Overload” from the last years which means that we will try to replace Arena33 with a different location for the new season.

It is never easy to find a good track for ETS racing with a motivated club, a good infrastructure, covered pits, and everything else we need for proper ETS racing. We will switch our radar on to see what we can do to get something fresh onto the race calendar of season #17.

For this moment we like to say THANK YOU again to all the fantastic clubs and people which helped us to make the outdoor season a real blast!

Indoor season ahead – let`s roll out some carpet!

The next three races will see the ETS racing on carpet again. For RD4 in Hann. Münden we have already 240 entries and it would be nice to break the wall of 300 there. After the Germany races of RD4 in Hann. Münden and RD5 in famous Daun, our season final race will take place in the fantastic Arena Nova in Wiener-Neustadt, AUT. We are already super excited to travel to a new location which looks simply fantastic.

Rules for indoor racing

We have updated the rules for indoor racing on our website. Here are the most important facts again:

Gearing for all our stock touring car classes: max. 4,5
Tires for TC: Matrix EPC-028
Tires FWD: Ride RI-26082
Tires for F1: Contac
Body Shell List: No changes

All championships are still open and we can expect some great fights when it comes to carpet racing again. Until then, we wish everybody a lot of fun racing RC cars and preparing for the ETS indoor events. A preview report will follow soon before ETS RD4 🙂

See you soon at the track.

Uwe, Scotty, and the whole ETS team!

It is a hyper LCG shorty pack with 3700mAh at 7,6V.
The pack was created especially for stock racing and here is the official announcement from LRP:

Stock Racers asked for it – we deliver!

The GRAPHENE-4.1 3700 HV Hyper LCG Stock Spec Shorty Hardcase Battery – 7.6V LiPo – 135C/65C #432287 is out now!

We have been frequently asked for the Lowest Internal Resistance (IR), Lightest and Lowest Center of Gravity (LCG) Shorty Battery possible.

So how did we go about it?

We use the case of the very popular G4.1 4200 Modified battery (#432273) with Hyper LCG design of just 18.5mm height for the lowest possible centre of gravity and put the lowest IR cell construction possible inside and this makes the all new 3700 Stock Spec battery (#432287). The battery comes in at only 155g (+-4%).

A clear testament to LRP’s commitment to excellence!

Latest technology paired with proven High Voltage technology, 5mm gold connectors and our trademark blue seethrough hardcase.
