Q3 + Q4 Report, ETS RD4 Season #16 2023/24

Qualifying is over here at ETS RD4 Season #16 2023/24 at the Transworld Hotel Auefeld in Hann. Münden. The first leg of A-Mains will take place now, and after some very close qualifyings, we are expecting some thrilling races in the city of Hann. Münden at ETS RD4.

Clean sweep for Urbain who will start ahead of Völker and Rheinard

Q3 – It was another TQ run for Lucas Urbain (Awesomatix) going on in Q3 of the Matrix Modified class. All drivers were fully sending their cars around the track, and it was spectacular to watch as always.
In the first minute, Yokomo`s Christopher Krapp was on top of the board before Lucas Urbain moved back to the top – followea2qd by Ronald Völker who had not the best first minute on track. But Ronald was picking up pace again and tried everything to catch Lucas. He took another second place overall after the intense five-minute run. Marc Rheinard was also touching a curb here and there and third place was the best he could get out of an imperfect run. It is the first “Indoor TQ” for Lucas Urbain at the ETS and we are already excited to see him starting from the sweet spot in A1 which will take place later today!

Q4 – In the ultimate round of Modified qualifying, Lucas Urbain took another win making it a so called “clean sweep”. But what looked like a walk in the park on paper, was a lot of work to do for Urbain and his Awesomatix A800R. Marc Rheinard and Christopher Krapp were leading the race in the beginning, before Yannic Prümper appeared on top of the timing screen. It was a super close fight and P2 on the grid was the price to win.
But before anybody could snatch P2 away from Mugen Seiki`s Ronald Völker, it was again Urbain who took the win ending all the hopes of Prümper to climb up the ladder. Marc Rheinard flew off the track in the last 30 seconds of the race and was out of contention as well. The first A-Main will be on the line this evening and everybody is locked and loaded.
Starting order: Urbain, Völker, Rheinard, Prümper, Krapp, Wahl, Ratheisky, manzo, Gollner, Stadler

Ellerbrock and Bultynck to hunt TQ Izsay in triple A-Mains

Q3 – Olivier Bultynck was the winner of Q3 with his Awesomatix A800R and was keeping his chances for the pole position alive. However, it was a super close heat of Pro Stock qualifying in which Adam Izsay was leading before he flipped his X4-2024 once and lost important time. Jan Ratheisky, Olivier Bultynck, and Lukas Ellerbrock battled it out until the last lap where Bultynck had the advantage of 0.1 seconds over Ratheisky. With the decision for TQ shifted to Q4, it was Olivier Bultynck who needed to set a faster overall time as the current fastest time of Adam Izsay if he wanted to steal the pole position away from the Xray driver.

Q4 – The last round of Pro Stock qualifying saw a much-improved Lukas Ellerbrock taking the win ahead of Bultynck and Ratheisky. This result handed the TQ over to Izsay who will see Bultynck and Ellerbrock in his rear-view mirror on the starting grid later this evening. Jan Ratheisky and Enrico Jung (missed Thursday practice!) will line up in fourth and fifth place.

Showdown for pole position in Q4 – Izsay grabbed it!

Q3 – Xray`s Adam Izsay was the fastest driver in the top heat of the Hobbywing Frontwheel class. Manuel Stankowitz (Iris) posted the second fastest time out of the second fastest heat again. Phil Langner (Awesomatix), Andreas Myrberg (Iris), and Henrik Heitsch (AR) rounded out the top 5. The showdown for pole position was going to happen between Stankowitz and Izsay in Q4 with a clear advantage for Izsay who already had two TQ runs to his favour (including the fastest overall time)

Q4 – After Manuel Stankowitz was not able to beat Adam Izsay`s best runtime in the second fastest group, the decision for the overall TQ was already made before Adam Izsay started into his last heat of FWD qualifying at the Transworld Hotel. However, Adam did not slow down and posted another win to show that he is the man to beat in the finals. Manuel Stankowitz will line up second on the grid with the new Iris car and Phil Langner also made it into the top 3. Henrik Heitsch and Adam Southgate rounded out overall the top 5 in qualifying and we are already looking forward to the finals where we expect some nice battles throughout the field.

1up Racing 40+ Masters

Baggendorf to start on pole position after Mateo binned Q4 while leading

Q3 – After Toni Mateo had taken Q2, Torsten Baggendorf was back on top of the game in the third 40+ Masters qualifier. Torsten Baggendorf and Manuel Stankowitz had an amazing battle for the win in this heat driving in a couple of tenths all the time. In the end, the ARC driver Baggendorf had the better ending with 0.15 of a second. The decision for the overall TQ came down to the line in Q4.

Q4 – Torsten “Totti” Baggendorf is your overall top qualifier at ETS RD4 in Germany. He took the first two qualifiers which had been enough for him to claim the best spot on the grid. Toni Mateo from Gran Canaria was the only driver with a chance to steal the TQ away from Baggendorf in Q4, but after Mateo made a huge mistake in the infield section after overtaking Baggendorf (who let him enough space), it was clear that the pole position was save for Baggendorf. Bad luck for Mateo, but is was an unlucky race incident. Congratulations for your first ETS TQ “Bagge”! The top 5 on the starting grid of the 1up Racing 40+ Masters class are: Baggendorf (TQ), Stankowitz, Mateo, Zierold, and Schindler!

Langner seals first ETS pole position of his very young career

Q3 – Cool like an ice cube – that is probably the best way to describe the performance of young Phil Langner. With his third TQ run in a row, he sealed the pole position for the finals. What a great success for the young and very talented racer. Tristan Bergheim, his hardest competitor this weekend, dropped down in the middle of the run after a small mistake. Nadine Zühlke took second place for the run (how cool is that), and Tobias Baumbach finished in third place. The whole ETS crew likes to congratulate Phil Langner for his first ETS TQ – well done Phil!

Q4 – Nothing new at the top as Phil Langner continued to win. Tristan Bergheim finished second again and will start directly behind Langner into the triple A-Mains. Nadine Zühlke secured herself a great third place on the grid with Jan Petersen and Tobias Baumbach right behind.

ToniSport Formula

Pole position for Xray`s very strong Ratheisky

Q3 – Jan Ratheisky has finally claimed a pole position again in the ToniSport Formula class. After winning all the first three qualifiers, his Xray car will roll into the first box on the grid for the triple A-Mains. Behind TQ Ratheisky, the fight for the positions is still alive and David Ehrbar (Xray) has the best chances to grab second place on the grid so far. Michal Wojcik and Andreas Stiebler were sitting in P3 and P4 before the last round of qualifying started!

Q4 – In the last round of Formula qualifying, Jan Ratheisky was not driving to “save his car for the finals”. David Ehrbar took full advantage and won the round. He will start second on the grid behind Ratheisky. Andreas Stiebler, Michal Wojcik, and Robert Kampehl booked themselves positions three to five on the grid for the triple A-Mains!

The second round of qualifying is now completed after the schedule had split it into two sections from Friday evening to Saturday morning. Two more rounds will follow to find out who will make into the big show here at the Transworld Hotel Auefeld in Hann. Münden.

Two in a row as Urbain wins Q2 on Saturday morning

Lucas Urbain seems to be on a mission here at ETS RD4 in Germany. With a gap of 1,7 seconds (!) ahead of second placed Marc Rheinard, he scored maximum points again. Rheinard` s second place was a close one as he had Christopher Krapp and Jan Ratheisky in a couple of tenths behind him after five minutes. Krapp lost some time as a slightly slower car was not opening for him as quicky as it should have – that costed Krapp a possible P2 for the round.
Lucas Urbain is very close to seal his first TQ on carpet at the ETS while Ronald Völker and Marc Rheinard are sitting in second and third place after two rounds of matrix Modified qualifying.

Izsay on top of the board in Q2 again – great performance of new Xray car with a 1-2

After Adam Izsay took the opening round of qualifying yesterday, it was another TQ run for the “all new” Xray X4-2024 by the quick Hungarian racer. He had a perfect run and took the round from his teammate Jan Ratheisky, with the Awesomatix of Lukas Ellerbrock in third place. Izsay is now very close to seal the overall TQ – can he do it in the next round?

Izsay fights back and takes early morning Q2

Adam Izsay has taken the second round of FWD qualifying on Saturday morning. Manuel Stankowitz posted a fast overall time in the second fastest group again, and it was only Adam Izsay who was able to beat the time in the top heat. Henrik Heitsch took third place for the round and Adam Southgate and Daniel Pöhlmann completed the top 5. The fight for TQ is wide open with the best chances for Izsay and Stankowitz who are both having a one and two on their score card now!

1up Racing 40+ Masters (Friday evening)

Mateo wins second Masters qualifier and joins battle for pole position

In the 1up Racing 40+ Masters class, Toni Mateo from Gran Canaria had the better ending in a real thriller. The top 4 drivers Mateo, Stankowitz, Zierold, and Baggendorf crossed the finish line within 0.450 of a second – that was Masters class racing at it`s best! The overnight rankings in the Masters class had seen Mateo, Baggendorf, Stankowitz, Zierold, and Thalheimer in the top 5.

Orca 21.5 Stock (Friday evening)

Langner again in Q2 after Bergheim got hit by a backmarker

In the second round of Orca 21.5 Stock qualifying, it was again Phil Langner who came down the driver stand with a win in his pocket. It was another close fight with Tristan Bergheim, but after Bergheim got taken out by a backmarker, Langner took an easy win. Nadine Zühlke finished on a great second place in Q2, followed by Tobias Baumbach in third place.

ToniSport Formula (Friday evening)

Ratheisky absolutely on point in Q2 – Ehrbar took second again

Jan Ratheisky was on point one more time in the second round of ToniSport Formula qualifying. David Ehrbar was pushing hard over the whole runtime, but had to settle for second place another time. Jan Ratheisky is only one TQ run away from sealing the overall pole position. Can anybody stop one of the best Formula racers in RC?

Ratheisky was the early leader before Völker and Rheinard tried to catch overnight TQ Urbain

Top seed Lucas Urbain (Awesomatix) took the first round of Matrix Modified qualifying here in Hann. Münden. Lucas had a clean run and his advantage over second placed Ronald Völker (Mugen Seiki) was half a second. Awesomatix driver Marc Rheinard took third place for the round, another six tenths behind Völker.

As the race started, it was Jan Ratheisky (Xray) who was in the lead for the first 2-3 laps before Urbain found his rhythm and took over the lead again. Urbain posted the fastest lap of the heat (12.186) and is looking very confident on track. The second round of qualifying is scheduled for Saturday morning, and it will be game on again.

Pro Stock Q1 goes to Xray`s Izsay, Schulz took second place, Bultynck third!

The first Awesomatix Pro Stock qualifier saw multiple changes at the top during the 5 minute run. Tim Benson was the early leader, until Izsay took it over and maintained it till the end. Tim Benson and Lukas Ellerbrock both had some small bubbles in their races and dropped down into the middle of the field.

Adam Izsay`s Xray teammate Stefan Schulz took over the second place and brought it home to score some good points in Q1. Olivier Bultynck, Patrick Danielsen, and Jan Ratheisky rounded out the top 5 in the first of our four rounds of qualifying.

In my first two laps I was a little nervous as I made many changes to the car before the run and I was not sure what to expect. But then it started to turn out very well and I had a clean run. I am happy with this result and I will not make any changes for tomorrow morning`s second qualifier!

Stankowitz and the new Iris car surprised with superb TQ run

In the Hobbywing Frontwheel class, the top heat saw a close and intense fight between Adam Izsay, and Phil Langner. Adam Iszay had the better ending and took the win, but beside the track it was the Iris team around Manuel Stankowitz, Andreas Myrberg, and Sven Rudig celebrating. Manuel Stankowitz had a ballistic run in the second fastest group earning himself and the team a very first ETS TQ run for the new Iris ONE.05 FWD car. Henrik Heitsch (ARC) and Adam Southgate completed the top 5 behind Stankowitz, Izsay, and Langner.

Wow, that was amazing. I had a good run on track but I never thought that it was enough for a TQ run. The car was really good and this result is giving us even more motivation for the rest of the event. I am also happy for our car designer Andreas Myrberg and also for Sven Rudig because they trusted in me all the time. Let`s see what happens in Q2, but for now I take the TQ points in my bag 🙂

ARC driver Baggendorf TQ`s opening round of Masters qualifying

In the 1up Racing 40+ Masters class it was Torsten Baggendorf celebrating on the driver stand after a ballistic and clean run taking TQ honours. The heat was intense and the lead changed several times between Torsten Baggendorf and Manuel Stankowitz (Iris). After five minutes, Michel Zierold (Awesomatix) was splitting the leaders and took second place with a tenth of a second from Stankowitz.

That was a great run! My ARC is so easy to drive it was simply fantastic. In the end it was a close fight with Stanko and Zierold, but I was able to take it. I will leave my car untouched for Q2 and hope for another good result.

Torsten Baggendorf (DE) ARC

Toni Mateo posted the fastest lap of the run (14.010) and finished in fourth place behind Baggendorf, Zierold, and Stankowitz. One more round of Masters qualifying will follow this evening and Torsten Baggendorf will get the chance to lay down another TQ run – can he get the job done?

Langner takes Friday afternoon Q1 from Bergheim and Petersen

In the first round of Orca 21.5 Stock qualifying, second place starter Phil Langner took the win ahead of top seed Tristan Bergheim. In the first laps of the race their pace looked very similar, but in the second half of the run it was Langner who lit the afterburner to open a gap of 2 seconds over Bergheim. Jan Petersen finished third for the round, followed by Tobias Baumbach (Xray) and Nadine Zühlke (Awesomatix).

I am happy with my run as my car was feeling very good. After Tristan let me by, I could maintain my speed and open a little gap to him until the end. For the next run we will keep the car as it is and I will try to do it again 😊

Formula Q1 goes to Xray`s Ratheisky

The first round of Formula qualifying was in the hands of Jan Ratheisky. The former ETS champion of this class took the win in front of fellow Xray racer David Ehrbar, and Michal Wojcik. Robert Kampehl and René Kölbel made it into the top 5 and scored some solid points too. Jan Ratheisky had a comfortable gap of 1.6 seconds and drove the fastest lap of the race which moves him into a top favourite roll for the next rounds of qualifying now.

The first half of qualifying round 2 will take place this evening, followed by the rest on Saturday morning. We will post our Q2 report on Saturday to give you another update!
